Book Treat Your Customers Like Animals

Download or read book Treat Your Customers Like Animals written by John S McKinstry and published by Global Publishing Group. This book was released on 2019-05-01 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Treat Your Customers Like Animals outlines a counter intuitive approach to selling that leads to rapid sales growth through VALUE Encounters. The cornerstone to an effective VALUE Encounter, whether the engagement is with prospective customers, networking to obtain new customers, or servicing the requirements of existing customers, is the relationship that you have with the party with whom you are communicating. Not all relationships are the same; and not all customers are the same. Often when people operate in business they gravitate towards those individuals or organisations that they believe can help them the most, particularly when looking for new business opportunities or selling additional products and services to existing customers. This is a fundamentally flawed approach that can damage relationships and results in a significant waste of time and effort. If you look at your customers and prospects according to their actual or perceived monetary value to you or your organisation, or look at your network and grade the usefulness of those that you know to your commercial objectives, you probably adopt some form of traditional A,B,C and D grading criteria. If this is the case, you will benefit significantly from learning how to treat your customers like animals, from classifying them as Elephants, Tigers, Cats and Kittens and interacting with them according to their relationship not according to their actual or perceived monetary value. There is no disagreement from any seasoned business development professional, learning and development specialist, or successful entrepreneur that relationships are the key to successful outcomes. None of these people, however, can explain why this is the case in a way that provides less experienced staff with a framework that allows them to operate as efficiently and effectively as they do. The VALUE Encounter approach is counter-intuitive. It is revolutionary in terms of conventional business development techniques, is replicable and will rapidly increase your commercial effectiveness.

Book Thanking the Monkey

Download or read book Thanking the Monkey written by Karen Dawn and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2014-05-20 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The animal rights movement has reached a tipping point. No longer a fringe extremist cause, it has become a social concern that leading members of society endorse and young people embrace. From Michael Vick's dog fighting scandal to CNN’s airing of the eye-opening film Blackfish, animal rights issues have hit the headlines—and are being championed by students and senators, pop stars and producers, and actors and activists. Don't you want to be part of the conversation? In Thanking the Monkey, Karen Dawn covers pets, fur, fashion, food, animal testing, activism, and more. But as the title playfully suggests, this isn't like any previous animal rights book. Thanking the Monkey is light on lectures meant to make you feel guilty if you're not yet a leather-eschewing vegan. It lets you have fun as you learn why so many of your favorite actors and musicians won't eat or wear animals. And you'll laugh over scores of cartoons by Dan Piraro'sBizzaro and other animal-friendly comics. This fun primer for a smart and socially committed generation delivers some serious surprises in the form of facts and figures about the treatment of animals. Yes, it will shock you with tales of primates still used in animal testing on nicotine or killed for oven cleaner. But it will also let you lighten up and laugh a little as we work out how to do a better job of thanking the monkey.

Book Why Veganism Matters

  • Author : Gary L. Francione
  • Publisher : Columbia University Press

Download or read book Why Veganism Matters written by Gary L. Francione and published by Columbia University Press. This book was released on 2021-04-13 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most people care about animals, but only a tiny fraction are vegan. The rest often think of veganism as an extreme position. They certainly do not believe that they have a moral obligation to become vegan. Gary L. Francione—the leading and most provocative scholar of animal rights theory and law—demonstrates that veganism is a moral imperative and a matter of justice. He shows that there is a contradiction in thinking that animals matter morally if one is also not vegan, and he explains why this belief should logically lead all who hold it to veganism. Francione dismantles the conventional wisdom that it is acceptable to use and kill animals as long as we do so “humanely.” He argues that if animals matter morally, they must have the right not to be used as property. That means that we cannot eat them, wear them, use them, or otherwise treat them as resources or commodities. Why Veganism Matters presents the case for the personhood of nonhuman animals and for veganism in a clear and accessible way that does not require any philosophical or legal background. This book offers a persuasive and powerful argument for all readers who care about animals but are not sure whether they have a moral obligation to be vegan.

Download or read book Animals Matter written by Marc Bekoff and published by Shambhala Publications. This book was released on 2007-11-13 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonhuman animals have many of the same feelings we do. They get hurt, they suffer, they are happy, and they take care of each other. Marc Bekoff, a renowned biologist specializing in animal minds and emotions, guides readers from high school age up—including older adults who want a basic introduction to the topic—in looking at scientific research, philosophical ideas, and humane values that argue for the ethical and compassionate treatment of animals. Citing the latest scientific studies and tackling controversies with conviction, he zeroes in on the important questions, inviting reader participation with "thought experiments" and ideas for action. Among the questions considered: • Are some species more valuable or more important than others? • Do some animals feel pain and suffering and not others? • Do animals feel emotions? • Should endangered animals be reintroduced to places where they originally lived? • Should animals be kept in captivity? • Are there alternatives to using animals for food, clothing, cosmetic testing, and dissection in the science classroom? • What can we learn by imagining what it feels like to be a dog or a cat or a mouse or an ant? • What can we do to make a difference in animals’ quality of life? Bekoff urges us not only to understand and protect animals—especially those whose help we want for our research and other human needs—but to love and respect them as our fellow beings on this planet that we all want to share in peace.

Book The Assessment and Treatment of Children Who Abuse Animals

Download or read book The Assessment and Treatment of Children Who Abuse Animals written by Kenneth Shapiro and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-09-07 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Empirical research has clearly demonstrated that animal abuse in childhood is associated with family violence and violent behavior towards humans in general. Such abuse is accordingly of increasing interest within human services and the criminal justice system. This handbook will serve as an ideal resource for therapists in social work, psychology, psychiatry, and allied fields who work with children who have abused animals. It provides step-by-step guidance on how to assess, develop appropriate treatment plans for, and treat children who commit animal abuse, based on the AniCare model developed by the Animals and Society Institute. Exercises cover the identification and expression of feelings, the development of empathy, self-management skills, and working with parents. Careful consideration is also paid to the effects of witnessing animal abuse. The theoretical framework is eclectic, encompassing cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, and attachment theories. A number of illustrative case studies are included, along with excerpts from treatment sessions. Accompanying electronic supplementary material demonstrates role-played assessment and treatment and includes workshop presentations of pedagogic material.

This book was released on 2009-04-14 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While observing trainers of exotic animals, journalist Amy Sutherland had an epiphany: What if she used their techniques with the human animals in her own life–specifically her dear husband, Scott? As Sutherland put training principles into action, she noticed that not only did her twelve-year-old marriage improve, but she herself became more optimistic and less judgmental. What started as a goofy experiment had such good results that Sutherland began using the training techniques with all the people in her life, including her mother, her friends, her students, even the clerk at the post office. Full of fun facts, fascinating insights, hilarious anecdotes, and practical tips, What Shamu Taught Me About Life, Love, and Marriage reveals the biggest lesson Sutherland learned: The only animal you can truly change is yourself.

This book was released on 2024-02-02 with total page 517 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Character is doing what is right when no one else is looking. Keep your fears to yourself, but share your courage with others. Never put the key to your happiness in someone else's pocket. Quantity is what you count; quality is what you count on. Very few burdens are heavy if everyone lifts. These are just a few of the quotations that I have included in this book. It is a culmination of over four decades of gathering quotes and sayings, noticing church and marquee signs and bumper stickers and, most recently, researching on the Internet. In the preface for this book, I went through and listed quotes that meant a lot to me, but as I look back, I realize that they all mean something to me. I hope that you can use them for motivation, reflection, and inspiration.
