Book The Five Wounds of Jesus

Download or read book The Five Wounds of Jesus written by David Williams and published by Gracewing Publishing. This book was released on 2004 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Devotion to the Five Wounds of Jesus has long been one of the most popular forms of Catholic spirituality. David Williams traces the roots of this devotion in Holy Scripture: the words of the prophets foretell the suffering Christ, while the New Testament witnesses to the victorious scars borne by the risen Lord. The Sacred Wounds of Jesus remained a persistent theme in the writings of the Desert Fathers and Doctors of the Church, a theme that was to be more fully developed in the devotional practice of the mediaeval period and on into modern times. Detailing the several forms devotion to the Five Wounds has taken (both mediaeval and modern) - in art, liturgy and poetry - David Williams recalls those holy people favoured by visons of the suffering Lord, as well as those who themselves came to bear the stigmata of Christ. He outlines the history of devotion to the specific wound in the Side - later seen as the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and describes the 'gift of tears' given to some from their reflection upon the Passion of their Master. David Williams is the author of The Cistercians on the Early Middle Ages and The Welsh Cistercians, both published by Gracewing.

Book The Five Wounds of Saint Francis

Download or read book The Five Wounds of Saint Francis written by Rev. Fr. Solanus M. Benfatti and published by TAN Books. This book was released on 2011 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many saints have borne the stigmata - wounds resembling those of Christ's crucifixion. While some of those saints have written about their experience, little is known of the personal experience of the first of all saints to brandish this extraordinary sign, Francis of Assisi. They were and have remained his carefully guarded secret. In The Five Wounds of Saint Francis, author Fr. Solanus Benfatti, CFR, explores the significance of this miraculous event in the Saint's life through careful analysis of pertinent medieval literature and recent scholarly studies. He establishes the historicity of the event, which has been called into question, and draws surprising and inspiring conclusions, leaving the reader with a afresh understanding of Saint Francis's spiritual experience.

Book Healing the Five Wounds of the Heart

Download or read book Healing the Five Wounds of the Heart written by Marie Mbouni and published by Hierophant Publishing. This book was released on 2023-11-07 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this groundbreaking book, medical doctor and energy healer Dr. Marie Mbouni shows us how to identify the five wounds of the heart, recover from the trauma they create, and live a full, wholehearted life. Marie Mbouni grew up in Cameroon, Africa, and always felt a calling to be a healer. “My journey,” writes Marie, “began with Western medicine, and I built a career many would be proud of—but inside, I felt dead. My quest for self-discovery saved me. I embraced a new calling as a shaman and energy healer.” After working with hundreds of clients, Mbouni noticed a strong pattern emerging. Nearly everyone had been wounded by experiencing one or more of five emotional traumas: abandonment, betrayal, separation, denial, and judgment. “Although we receive these wounds as children,” writes Mbouni, “they continue to play out in our adult lives, causing us to unconsciously seek out endless variations on the original painful experience.” While we cannot time travel to the past and change things, we can heal the past by responding to our present situation in new ways. In Healing the Five Wounds of the Heart, the author gives you the tools to do precisely that. By bringing our awareness, imagination, creativity, and courage to these practices, we can heal our heart wounds and achieve wholeness, ease, and good health.

"Masterly…Quade has created a world bristling with compassion and humanity. The characters and the challenges they face are wholly realized and moving; their journeys span a wide spectrum of emotion and it is impossible not to root for [them]." —Alexandra Chang, New York Times Book Review It’s Holy Week in the small town of Las Penas, New Mexico, and thirty-three-year-old unemployed Amadeo Padilla has been given the part of Jesus in the Good Friday procession. He is preparing feverishly for this role when his fifteen-year-old daughter Angel shows up pregnant on his doorstep and disrupts his plans for personal redemption. With weeks to go until her due date, tough, ebullient Angel has fled her mother’s house, setting her life on a startling new path. Vivid, tender, funny, and beautifully rendered, The Five Wounds spans the baby’s first year as five generations of the Padilla family converge: Amadeo’s mother, Yolanda, reeling from a recent discovery; Angel’s mother, Marissa, whom Angel isn’t speaking to; and disapproving Tíve, Yolanda’s uncle and keeper of the family’s history. Each brings expectations that Amadeo, who often solves his problems with a beer in his hand, doesn’t think he can live up to. The Five Wounds is a miraculous debut novel from a writer whose stories have been hailed as “legitimate masterpieces” (New York Times). Kirstin Valdez Quade conjures characters that will linger long after the final page, bringing to life their struggles to parent children they may not be equipped to save.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are going through a period of liturgical exile, explains Bishop Athanasius Schneider in this enlightening book, and the vast proliferation of modern abuses are crying out for liturgical reform. The primary source of most modern abuses, he declares, is man's narcissistic tendency to idolize himself instead of paying homage to God. In what is sure to be seen as one of the most impressive and authoritative books ever written on the Catholic Mass, Bishop Schneider reestablishes what Catholics have known for centuries but have largely forgotten today: that the Mass is the highest form of Christian prayer, which enables us to express with exterior worship our interior belief. He describes how saints such as Padre Pio and John Vianney helped the faithful enter into a profound spiritual experience during Mass, and he explains why the Mass should serve as a means to lift our hearts to God so we can surrender to His will. You'll come to understand why the rubrics are vital to p
