Book The Yesterdays of Grand Rapids Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Yesterdays of Grand Rapids Classic Reprint written by Charles E. Belknap and published by . This book was released on 2015-08-05 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Yesterdays of Grand Rapids This little book of retrospection is not in any way intended to be a complete history of Grand Rapids, although many historical events are recorded with strict adherance to the facts. These "yesterday" stories are rather the personal memories of a man who has followed the trails of the Grand River Valley, by land and water, from the days when its splendid forest was the home of the Indian, to the present pagentry of our growing city with its commercial activities. Through the days in which it has been my privilege to serve and share in this community's progress, my mind has received a class of impressions which the passing years have failed to efface, and in this book these memories are given without assumption or embellishment. I may not have done full justice to the noble men and women I have known, people who have left me with a love of my kind that even trial and misfortune has not dissipated. I may also be somewhat of a sinner in a literary way, yet if the stories are interesting and give pleasure, let them stand for all the apology that should be made and the author will be satisfied. Book The Anarchist Cookbook

Download or read book The Anarchist Cookbook written by William Powell and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2018-02-05 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Anarchist Cookbook will shock, it will disturb, it will provoke. It places in historical perspective an era when "Turn on, Burn down, Blow up" are revolutionary slogans of the day. Says the author" "This book... is not written for the members of fringe political groups, such as the Weatherman, or The Minutemen. Those radical groups don't need this book. They already know everything that's in here. If the real people of America, the silent majority, are going to survive, they must educate themselves. That is the purpose of this book." In what the author considers a survival guide, there is explicit information on the uses and effects of drugs, ranging from pot to heroin to peanuts. There i detailed advice concerning electronics, sabotage, and surveillance, with data on everything from bugs to scramblers. There is a comprehensive chapter on natural, non-lethal, and lethal weapons, running the gamut from cattle prods to sub-machine guns to bows and arrows.

Book The Suicide of Christian Theology

Download or read book The Suicide of Christian Theology written by John Warwick Montgomery and published by New Reformation Publications. This book was released on 2018-01-26 with total page 601 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A forceful, scholarly call to return to the solid ground of the ancient creeds of Christianity. Dr. Montgomery's incisive observations on Barth, Bultmann, Tillich, de Chardin, Pike and others may rankle some readers on occasion. But there can never be any question about the mental acumen he brings to bear upon his subject or the skill with which he pens his views. Montgomery is so obviously at home in the area of the theological, and so conversant with the convictions of his fellow theologians that he certainly must be reckoned with. Not content with only analyzing the suicide of theology, the author also gives a proposal for its resurrection.

Book The Glossolalia Phenomenon

Download or read book The Glossolalia Phenomenon written by Charles W. Conn and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "It is abundantly evident that there is widespread and sincere interest in the baptism of the Holy Ghost, with the accompanying manifestation of tongues, in the world today. It is equally evident that there is an urgent need for clarification so that those interested in the subject may know the viewpoint of a people that have embraced this teaching and experience for many years. The Glossolalia Phenomenon is a book with multiple purposes. The purposes are apparent in light of (1) the confusion surrounding the subject in this day; (2) the evidence of increasing interest being shown in glossolalia; and (3) the need for undistorted scriptural guidance to those who are new in the Pentecostal way. This book contributes to a better understanding of this apostolic doctrine by establishing a reservoir of sound, scriptural, historical, and empirical information on the subject of speaking in tongues."--Publisher description.

Book excerpt: Three young Michigan brothers disappeared in 2010. Their father says they will "hibernate until they graduate" but police believe it's a triple homicide. Eight years later, this remains one of the biggest unsolved mysteries in the United States, stretching from Michigan to Montana, and national coverage from John Walsh to Nancy Grace have yet to turn up a clue.If police are right, Andrew, Alexander and Tanner Skelton were the victims of a personal war between John Russel Skelton and his ex-wife. If they are wrong, the boys live among strangers cut off from the world and everything they had ever known.John Skelton is the only one who knows what happened and he still controls the fate of his sons.Silence is his victory.Reporter Lynn Thompson has covered this story since the day the boys disappeared. Based on what he has learned, and drawing from his newspaper and U.S. Army experience, Lynn exposes the elements of control to narrow the search, speed the recovery and bring the boys back home. Now retired, Don Allison served as author Lynn Thompson's editor at The Bryan Times as the story unfolded. "Lynn Thompson has doggedly followed the disappearance of Andrew, Alexander and Tanner Skelton since day one," Don says "It is more than just another story to Lynn - two of the missing boys are the same age as his own sons, and he has made the quest to find them a personal one. With the eye if an experienced crime reporter and the compassion of a parent, Lynn weaves a compelling insightful narrative."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stevens invokes a powerful synthesis of recent Pauline studies by insisting the category of Israel is the hermeneutical key to all of Romans. Through Jesus the Messiah and the power of the Spirit, Paul saw fulfilled Isaiah’s vision of Israel’s destiny to the nations to bring the good news of salvation. Recapturing Isaiah’s vision broke the spell for Paul of the Great Assembly’s postexilic take on Israel. Paul’s apostleship first and foremost was to Israel, not gentiles exclusively. Paul used his exposé of the gospel of God in Romans to challenge believers in Rome to embrace their place in the messianic Israel of God.

Download or read book Essays on Revelation written by Gerald L. Stevens and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book of Revelation perennially provokes outlandish futurist predictions proven patently false over time. Such prophecy failures leave the inquiring mind with a strong sense that the book of Revelation is nothing but a hoax, safely ignored and without contemporary relevance. The inevitable practical result, not only for church members, but for their ministers as well, is a canonical book stripped bare of canonical authority. In this volume, six contributors collectively attempt to provide a path toward recanonizing Revelation, reclaiming its authority and relevance through christological foundations. The result is a book not only useful in the collegiate and seminary classroom, but also for serious small-group Bible studies wanting to glean from Revelation something deeper than a fear of being "left behind."
