There are thirty lectures in the collection, all on rhetoric and the different kinds or characteristics of style. Book Philosophy of Economic Behavior

Download or read book Philosophy of Economic Behavior written by Nara Rela and published by Editora Dialética. This book was released on 2021-11-03 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why do economic models often fail in their predictions? Why do economists and financial market professionals make foolish decisions even though they know they may be harmful in the future? Why do many competent people in their financial professional life make wrong decisions in their personal finances? Why does economics today seem to us to have the characteristics of an exact science? These are some of the questions that Philosophy of Economic Behavior aims to answer. This is a new field that encompasses both behavioral and psychological studies of economics in the light of philosophical thought. Economics is primarily a human and applied social science, and its study is based on human behavior within the economy. The main purpose of the book is to present its fundaments, focusing on the individual and not the market nor the government. The conclusions drawn here indicate the starting point as a basis for the outcome of many possible approaches: psychology of economics, behavioral economics, philosophy of emotions, philosophy of economics, nudges and other techniques that influence the decision making, ethics of economic behavior, ethics of decision making, ethics of the financial system (banks, startups, digital banks, investments, cryptocurrencies, etc.), education/health/socio-cultural condition/employment/ income vs. economic behavior, influence of algorithms in decision making, economic behavior and globalization, and many other relevant topics.

Book Adam Smith s System

Download or read book Adam Smith s System written by Andreas Ortmann and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-09-19 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inspired by his lectures on rhetoric and by game theory, this book provides a new interpretation of Adam Smith’s system of thought. It highlights its coherence through the identification of three reasoning routines and a meta-reasoning routine throughout his work on languages, rhetoric, moral sentiments, self-command, and the nature and causes of the wealth of nations. The identification of these reasoning routines allows the authors to uncover a hitherto poorly understood deep structure of Smith’s work and to explain its main characteristics. How these routines emerged in Smith’s early research on the principles of the human mind is also traced. This book sheds new light on Adam Smith and his work, highlighting his sophisticated understanding of strategic interaction in all things rhetorical, moral, and economic. It will be relevant to students and researchers interested in the history of ideas, the history of economic thought, game theory, Enlightenment studies, and rhetoric.

Download or read book The Glasgow Edition of the Works and Correspondence of Adam Smith written by Adam Smith and published by . This book was released on 1982-01-01 with total page 652 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Smith's "Lectures on Jurisprudence", originally delivered at Glasgow University in 1762-1763, presents his "theory of the rules by which civil government ought to be directed". Building on his "Theory of Moral Sentiments", Smith argues that the state must act as an impartial spectator, judging when an individual has been injured, Thus, regulations concerning trade, commerce, and production must be crafted so as to encourage rather than interfere with other productive capacities.
