Book The Effects of Hydraulic Variation on Fixed Film Reactor Performance

Download or read book The Effects of Hydraulic Variation on Fixed Film Reactor Performance written by Roy O. Ball and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 33 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rather than describe the performance of fixed film reactors in general; the objective of this paper is to describe the response of two attached growth system, viz. Rotating biological contactor (RBC) and trickling filter (TF) to hydraulic variation. For each system, a mathematical model was selected based on a review of available models and theoretical analysis of the unit processes involved. The model parameters were then bounced, i.e., the range of probable values that a parameter could take were defined. The models were then arranged with effluent quality (in these cases, soluble BOD concentration) as the dependent variable and influent flow rate as the principal independent variable. The models were then exercised over the range of probable parameter values and the output, i.e., the variation in effluent quality, was graphically displayed as a function of flow rate and any other independent variables used in the model.

This book was released on 1994-07-12 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Oxygen Responses, Reactivities, and Measurements in Biosystems meets the pressing needs of the twentieth-century biotechnological and bioengineering sciences in covering oxic reactions and oxygen transport phenomena in a single book. This book is intended for teaching senior or graduate level courses and as a self-study text for practicing biochemical and chemical engineers, biotechnologists, applied and industrial microbiologists, cell biologists, scientists involved in oxygen-free radical research, and others in related fields. The text includes thought-provoking numerical problems and short questions, conventional biochemical engineering approaches and related concepts with mathematical formulations and analysis, concepts of cell biology, basic microbiology and applied biochemistry in oxy radical research, practical approaches for the development of laboratory experiments and industrial design, and an introduction of oxygen-free radical chemistry to biotechnology and bioengineering.

Book Industrial Waste Treatment Process Engineering

Download or read book Industrial Waste Treatment Process Engineering written by Gaetano Celenza and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-08-28 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Industrial Waste Treatment Process Engineering is a step-by-step implementation manual in three volumes, detailing the selection and design of industrial liquid and solid waste treatment systems. It consolidates all the process engineering principles required to evaluate a wide range of industrial facilities, starting with pollution prevention and source control and ending with end-of-pipe treatment technologies. Industrial Waste Treatment Process Engineering guides experienced engineers through the various steps of industrial liquid and solid waste treatment. The structure of the text allows a wider application to various levels of experience. By beginning each chapter with a simplified explanation of applicable theory, expanding to practical design discussions, and finishing with system Flowsheets and Case Study detail calculations, readers can "enter or leave" a section according to their specific needs. As a result, this set serves as a primer for students engaged in environmental engineering studies AND a comprehensive single-source reference for experienced engineers. Industrial Waste Treatment Process Engineering includes design principles applicable to municipal systems with significant industrial influents. The information presented in these volumes is basic to conventional treatment procedures, while allowing evaluation and implementation of specialized and emerging treatment technologies. What makes Industrial Waste Treatment Process Engineering unique is the level of process engineering detail. The facility evaluation section includes a step-by-step review of each major and support manufacturing operation, identifying probable contaminant discharges, practical prevention measures, and point source control procedures. This theoretical plant review is followed by procedures to conduct a site specific pollution control program. The unit operation chapters contain all the details needed to complete a treatment process design.
