Book The Crow s Dinner

Download or read book The Crow s Dinner written by Jonathan Carroll and published by Jabberwocky Literary Agency, Inc.. This book was released on 2024-08-27 with total page 565 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Crow’s Dinner weaves a tapestry of tales, spotlighting striking, poignant moments of raw human emotion and fleeting connections, keenly and compassionately observed by Carroll. This collection is a nocturnal journey through intimate encounters in cafes, episodes of beautiful youth without shelter, and the subtle unraveling of personal facades. As one critic wrote “It captures a magic akin to the invisible, compassionate observers in Wim Wenders’ Wings of Desire, who peer into the soul of Berlin, absorbing the silent stories and hidden pains of its inhabitants. With narratives that are concise yet profound, often spanning just a page or two, each piece centers around a pivotal experience or theme, unraveling layers of meaning and insight. Carroll’s work is reminiscent of a Zen koan, each story a path to deeper understanding, inviting readers into a reflective journey.”

Book The Crows of Bosville Usa

Download or read book The Crows of Bosville Usa written by Beverlyn D. Trimble and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2013-12-30 with total page 59 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hi, my name is RJ. Im the baby in my family. All four of us siblings were born the same day. But I was the last to come out, so I guess that makes me the baby. My dad always wanted six kids but after me, Mama Lana said, Enough. I was a handful from the day we all were hatched and because I was the only boy to be born, Papa Rocco named me Rocco Jr. But everyone calls me RJ. My sisters are Minnie, Tina, and Annie. We live on a street called Fruits of the Spirit in Tree #9, Bosville, USA. There are nine trees on our street and each tree represents a level youve obtained as a family spiritually. The higher your tree number, the greater you are growing in Fruits of the Spirit. Not just any family can live on this street; you have to meet only one criterion as husband and wife to live on this street. The criterion is a willingness to live your life according to the spiritual principles represented by the nine fruits. My parents worked hard and it took quite a while because these nine principles take a lot of patience, endurance, and faith to develop in a person. But they didnt give up even in the midst of challenges; as a result, they were able to build their nest home in Tree #9 and start to raise their family. Our community is a close community, and we have beautiful trees that change colors according to the season. A lot happens on this street, and I cant wait to share with you some of the adventures we have endured as a family and as a community. So this is the first of a series of stories about me and my family and the town where we live, Bosville, USA. Oh, yes, I forgot to mention, there are a lot of us in this town. I have hundreds of aunts, uncles, and cousins. So lets see, where should I begin? . . . Did I also mention that when you live in a house with all females, its hard to get a word in edgewise? So I listen a lot and, boy, do I hear a lot of crazy girlie stuff! So I decided to write first about my sister Minnie and the night she narrowly escaped from old, mean Mr. Homer the Owl.

Book Two Tales of Crow and Sparrow

Download or read book Two Tales of Crow and Sparrow written by Alan Dundes and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 1997 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This provocative book by a leading folklorist offers a new analysis of caste in India, focusing on the rationale underlying the customs surrounding untouchability. Drawing on clues contained in two fascinating folktales, Alan Dundes goes beyond Dumont's classic Homo Hierarchicus in deconstructing the pervasive pollution complex that prevents millions of individuals from entering temples or drawing water from community wells. His graceful and erudite explanation of caste also illuminates the mysterious worship of the sacred cow as well as sati/suttee, or widow burning. The author concludes by relating caste to the theory of marginal survival, drawing on Gypsy concepts of pollution. This controversial book offers a fresh perspective for anyone interested in India, folklore, and psychoanlytic anthropology_a detailed case study documenting how folklore, as a source of native categories and symbols, can yield unique insights into the unconscious functioning of a culture through time. In this comprehensive textbook, renowned philosopher J. N. Mohanty examines the range of Indian philosophy from the Sutra period through the 17th century Navya Nyaya. Classical Indian Philosophy is divided into three parts that cover epistemology, metaphysics, and the attempt to transcend the distinction between subject and object. Mohanty focuses on the major concepts and problems dealt with in Indian philosophy, including ethics, social philosophy, law, and aesthetics. Students of Indian philosophy at every level will find this a rich and rewarding text.
