But it turns out that not everyone in Atlanta is as ready to leave the trial in the past as Charles and Philip, and a surprise attack leaves Charles in the hospital and Philip's arm in a sling. With thoughts of their own mortality fresh in their minds, Charles and Philip make a decision that will change their lives forever. Future plans and home renovations take their minds off the attacks, but the danger isn't over yet: the people behind the attacks are still at large, and they weren't acting alone.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Roller coasters are the pulse of any great amusement park. While waiting in line, you have a front-row seat to the heart-pounding adventure you are about to experience. The thunderous rumble of the coaster as it navigates the steel highway of twisting turns, loops, and drop-offs that are borderline illegal has your undivided attention. In minutes you will be one of those passengers who is offering screams of joy or pure terror, debating whether you're brave enough to raise the roof as the ride approaches a cliff to weightlessness. The adrenaline bolting through your body causes held breath as you plummet at an impossible angle while approaching speeds of 150 m.p.h. At least one time the thought of There's no way this thing is staying on the tracks taunts your mind as you're rocketed skyward. Then it's over. While the emotions of relief and excitement are ping-ponging around inside, you have a decision to make-go again or find the funnel cake stand. That's how our mornings feel with the Boy, our four-year-old son. Except when the clock strikes noon, we don't have the option of finding a food stand. We must get right back in line and prepare for the perpetual roller coaster that defines our days. He is the keeper of our hearts, the provider of nonstop entertainment, and the raiser of our blood pressures. His big brown eyes, thick locks of hair, and adorable yet devilish smile are befitting of a Gerber jar and will have you concluding "This child is an absolute angel." Suckers. Underneath his angelic exterior is a TNT canister waiting to detonate the moment anyone or anything interferes with what he deems fun or as "MINE " When the day is over and the ride has stopped, we say prayers, kiss him good night, and thank the heavens for such a beautiful gift. And then pour a drink.

Book The Limits of Kindness

Download or read book The Limits of Kindness written by Caspar Hare and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2013-08-29 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Caspar Hare presents a novel approach to questions of what we ought to do, and why we ought to do it. The traditional way to approach this subject is to begin by supposing a foundational principle, and then work out its implications. Consequentialists say that we ought to make the world impersonally better, for instance, while Kantian deontologists say that we ought to act on universalizable maxims. And contractualists say that we ought to act in accordance with the terms of certain hypothetical contracts. These principles are all grand and controversial. The motivating idea behind The Limits of Kindness is that we can tackle some of the most difficult problems in normative ethics by starting with a principle that is humble and uncontroversial. Being moral involves wanting particular other people to be better off. From these innocuous beginnings, Hare leads us to surprising conclusions about how we ought to resolve conflicts of interest, whether we ought to create some people rather than others, what we ought to want in an infinite world, when we ought to make sacrifices for the sake of needy strangers, and why we cannot, on pain of irrationality, attribute great importance to the boundaries between people.

Book Great Tribulation a Fiery Trial Can You Escape It

Download or read book Great Tribulation a Fiery Trial Can You Escape It written by Gladys Scaife and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2008-10 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about the physical war that's coming upon the earth between Jehovah God of heaven with His Christ, against Satan the antichrist, the god of this world. Satan will enact a war upon the inhabitants of the earth for their destruction. In the beginning, the angel Lucifer aka Satan, rebelled in the Kingdom of God causing destructions upon the earth and Man. Satan warred with God in heaven, lost the war and was cast out to the earth. Satan took Adam's seat of authority and posterity by deception, in the garden of Eden, transferring the creation of Man unto himself to rule. This war will cause a catastrophic global upheaval before Satan's eviction into the bottomless pit for a thousand years. Gladys Scaife has the talent of a teacher. She writes Christian books in a non-traditional fashion to reiterate the prophecies and visions sent to mankind by the God of heaven. Through a book ministry, she helps believers and the world to better understand their beginning and their end in the Kingdom of God upon the earth. Her books bring attention once again to latter day revelation knowledge for mankind to know their end. She has been given the charge by God to prepare the people on the earth with what He has purposed for the latter days. Her books give understanding for reformation of the current endtime knowledge of God's word.
