Book excerpt: Fourteen Growing up is the thing Im thinking about right now. Not how fast I can grow up, because the truth is Im not going to grow up as fast as I can at this age, Im 14 and its pretty fun just the way it is so Id like to keep it this pace for a little longer because I know the older I get the more responsibilities Ill have and Ill have less people to rely on to do them for me. At my age, I most other kids, when they think about growing u we think wonderful jobs and big houses and the best things possible but at some point an epiphany will hit us all that growing up is going to be tough. Things will be so different and I imagine that as I go throughout my high school career Ill realize that more and more Im growing up. Whether I realize it when Im getting taller or when family members pass and i realize that the years for all of us are getter closer an closer each day, or that simple question weve been asked since kindergarten: What do you want to be when you grow up? I have wanted to be a million things since kindergarten and they changes every time my passion change, Or my mind gets more mature and I think about being more realistic with my career choice. Growing up is different for everyone and all of the parts in growing up has its pros and cons. Sometimes I catch myself growing up to fast and I think back on my younger childhood. It seems like so long ago but Im only 14. I have a whole lifetime ahead and for now Im going to enjoy every moment of being exactly what I am right now, 14. Heres a quote I read that really got me thinking about growing up, its simple but to me, it says dont grow up to fast, youll one day come back to remember your childhood and easier times: Some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again. Download or read book After the Classics written by Vicent Andrés Estellés and published by John Benjamins Publishing. This book was released on 2013-06-12 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This selection of the verse of Valencian poet Vicent Andres Estelles (1924-1993) is accompanied by a translation into English from the original Catalan. The format of an innovative dialogue with classical authors — a cornerstone of Estellesian expression — constitutes an ingenious invocation and parodic commentary on the output and ethos of the Latin poets Horace, Ovid, Virgil and Catullus, the medieval patriarch of Valencian letters Ausiàs March and the Renaissance Castilian poet, Garcilaso de la Vega. For Estellés, Octavian Rome provides a parallel to the Franco dictatorship and the historical framework surrounding these writers affords the neophyte an opportunity for ideological denunciation, creative wit and lyrical grace as well as righteous anger at the oppressive pettiness of life under autocracy. The translators have attempted to bring to an Anglophone readership the wealth of achievement of this writer who, despite the severity of fascist repression, sang and celebrated the experience of his own community through its own oppressed language.

Because after Ethan Riske came into my life faster than a sexy dark blond bullet nine years ago, I realized that hate was all there could ever be between us. The troubled small town prince loved me. He lusted for me. And then he left…stranding me in the dust of the Southern spit of land where we’d met. I never expected to see him again. I never expected that he (and all his trouble) would find me. And I absolutely never, never expected that one day he’d try so hard to become the man I call “Boss.” This is our story. I warned you that love wasn’t a part of it… If only I remembered to heed that warning, too. AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is a full-length, stand alone, second chance/enemies to lovers romance in the suspense-filled Hating Him series. This book contains surprising twists, humor and heat.
