Book See you soon Caroline

Download or read book See you soon Caroline written by Bernard S Wilson and published by eBook Partnership. This book was released on 2014-05-19 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "e;See you soon Caroline!"e;A young English girl, exploring her family history as part of a homework assignment, stumbles across an episode in the life of her family which takes her to the remains of internment camps in the south of France. She learns about the evil and suffering, but also about the courage and heroism which saved her grandfather's life. The story follows Caroline's attempts to discover the truth behind her grandfather's mysterious origins. We follow her to the Shoah Museum in Paris, and to the site of the Drancy camp where thousands of Jews were held before being sent to their deaths in Poland. When she arrives in the south of France she discovers that behind the sunny beaches and relaxed holiday atmosphere there is a dark and unhappy past of suffering, hunger, sickness and death of which most people are unaware. She learns that not only the Jews but Spanish people also suffered here. But all is not gloom. She meets and commences a happy relationship with a local lad who opens her eyes to the hidden history of the region. Together they solve the mystery of her grandfather's family, and the story ends with a dramatic revelation which no-one could have foreseen! This is a book for teenagers and young adults. Although a work of fiction, it is based on the true story of an Irish woman, Mary Elmes, working for the American Quakers in France throughout the Second World War. In 2014 she was honoured by Yad Vashem in the State of Israel as "e;Righteous among the Nations"e;, the first Irish person to receive this honour.Lisa G, an American award-winner film producer says of "e;See you soon, Caroline!"e;I loved "e;See you soon, Caroline!"e; I planned to start with the first chapter and ended up reading the entire novel in two sittings. I found the narrative to be very compelling and cared deeply about all of the characters. Caroline's enthusiasm for and commitment to her family history project, and how she encouraged her entire family to open up to the experience, is so inspiring. I hope "e;See you soon, Caroline"e; encourages young people to talk to their parents and their grandparents, and to get to know their personal histories. And, also, to not make assumptions and fast judgements about other people. This story unfolds like a mystery. The writing was so good that I was able to visualize all of the places Caroline visited with her family. I think it will have great appeal to middle school and high school students because they will find their contemporaries in Caroline, John and Pierre.Another review:The writer has found a great way to tell the story of how Quakers and others helped persecuted Jews in France in World War 2. A schoolgirl is given a project on family history which leads to discoveries about her own background which take her on a fascinating journey to Europe. Teenagers (and older readers) will be gripped by what she uncovers on her trip and who she meets (and grows very fond of!) It would be great if this book was widely read by young people for not only is it a great story but it also has an important message.

As Rick’s best-laid plans for his grandmother’s party fall apart, Whitney steps in to help him. But as things heat up between them and the press catches wind of their relationship, their photo is splashed all over social media. Whitney wants nothing of the limelight nor does she believe Rick will ever be happy with a small-town businesswoman who wants nothing more than to live out her life in Indigo Bay. She doesn’t need to add one more name to the list of people she’s cared about who have left her. With Rick’s career plans at stake, they are both forced to decide what they really want out of life… and if their personal choices will prevent them from ever being together. keywords: sweet romance, clean and wholesome, small town romance series, women’s fiction, drama, saga, best friends, women friends, southern romance, beach read, friendship, heartwarming, sweet, clean, inspirational, family life, older characters, older heroine, contemporary romance, happily ever after, HEA, seasoned romance, older romance, Later in life, Kay Correll, Indigo Bay, Similar to, Debbie Macomber, Robyn Carr, Sherryl Woods, Inglath Cooper, Olivia Miles, Susan Wiggs, Karen Kingsbury, Kay Cordell, Kay Cornell, Kay Correl, Similar authors, Jenny Hale, Sheila Roberts, Pamela Kelley, Christine Nolfi, Joanne DeMaio, Jan Karon, Jan Moran, Meredith Summers, Cindy Caldwell, Rachel Hanna, holiday, Christmas, boxed set, box set, boxset

I am eighty-four years old, and more than likely with my health, I'll only live another year or two, so why worry about it? The risk is not that great. Plus, you know we live in the wild, wild, Midwest, and slightly South. We have a reputation to uphold that we can make it no matter what! And honestly, who can live on social security? And you know those Wall Street thieves stole my savings! So I sell a little fruity tea and weed to keep dinner on the table. What's the big deal?" Star said with a crooked smile and hearty laugh. Betty looked over at Caroline, who rolled her eyes. Star pulled up in front of the fruity tea shack and they all got out to go in. Betty whistled. "Wow, this is a big shack. I had no idea it was an actual barn back here," she said. Star nodded. "Girls, you are welcome to look inside, but I do appreciate discretion with what you will see inside. Not a word!" she said with big eyes and a soft voice. "Also, the back wall caved in a little from the tornado, so don't go to close to it," Star said. Caroline and Betty nodded and felt nervous. They knew anything could be inside.
