Book 1000 Solved Problems in Modern Physics

Download or read book 1000 Solved Problems in Modern Physics written by Ahmad A. Kamal and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-06-23 with total page 643 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is targeted mainly to the undergraduate students of USA, UK and other European countries, and the M. Sc of Asian countries, but will be found useful for the graduate students, Graduate Record Examination (GRE), Teachers and Tutors. This is a by-product of lectures given at the Osmania University, University of Ottawa and University of Tebrez over several years, and is intended to assist the students in their assignments and examinations. The book covers a wide spectrum of disciplines in Modern Physics, and is mainly based on the actual examination papers of UK and the Indian Universities. The selected problems display a large variety and conform to syllabi which are currently being used in various countries. The book is divided into ten chapters. Each chapter begins with basic concepts containing a set of formulae and explanatory notes for quick reference, followed by a number of problems and their detailed solutions. The problems are judiciously selected and are arranged section-wise. The so- tions are neither pedantic nor terse. The approach is straight forward and step-- step solutions are elaborately provided. More importantly the relevant formulas used for solving the problems can be located in the beginning of each chapter. There are approximately 150 line diagrams for illustration. Basic quantum mechanics, elementary calculus, vector calculus and Algebra are the pre-requisites.

Book Fundamental Problems in Quantum Physics

Download or read book Fundamental Problems in Quantum Physics written by M. Ferrero and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For many physicists quantum theory contains strong conceptual difficulties, while for others the apparent conclusions about the reality of our physical world and the ways in which we discover that reality remain philosophically unacceptable. This book focuses on recent theoretical and experimental developments in the foundations of quantum physics, including topics such as the puzzles and paradoxes which appear when general relativity and quantum mechanics are combined; the emergence of classical properties from quantum mechanics; stochastic electrodynamics; EPR experiments and Bell's Theorem; the consistent histories approach and the problem of datum uniqueness in quantum mechanics; non-local measurements and teleportation of quantum states; quantum non-demolition measurements in optics and matter wave properties observed by neutron, electron and atomic interferometry. Audience: This volume is intended for graduate students of physics and those interested in the foundations of quantum theory.

Book Quantum Physics

    Book Details:
  • Author : John S. Townsend
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2010
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 440 pages

Download or read book Quantum Physics written by John S. Townsend and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This brilliantly innovative textbook is intended as a first introduction to quantum mechanics and its applications. Townsend's new text shuns the historical ordering that characterizes so-called Modern Physics textbooks and applies a truly modern approach to this subject, starting instead with contemporary single-photon and single-atom interference experiments. The text progresses naturally from a thorough introduction to wave mechanics through applications of quantum mechanics to solid-state, nuclear, and particle physics, thereby including most of the topics normally presented in a Modern Physics course. Examples of topics include blackbody radiation, Bose-Einstein condensation, the band-structure of solids and the silicon revolution, the curve of binding energy and nuclear fission and fusion, and the Standard Model of particle physics. Students can see in quantum mechanics a common thread that ties these topics into a coherent picture of how the world works, a picture that gives students confidence that quantum mechanics really works, too. The book also includes a chapter-length appendix on special relativity for the benefit of students who have not had a previous exposure to this subject.Translation into Chinese.

Book Classical Mechanics Illustrated By Modern Physics 42 Problems With Solutions

Download or read book Classical Mechanics Illustrated By Modern Physics 42 Problems With Solutions written by Guery-odelin David and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2010-08-26 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In many fields of modern physics, classical mechanics plays a key role. However, the teaching of mechanics at the undergraduate level often confines the applications to old-fashioned devices such as combinations of springs and masses, pendulums, or rolling cylinders. This book provides an illustration of classical mechanics in the form of problems (at undergraduate level) inspired — for the most part — by contemporary research in physics, and resulting from the teaching and research experience of the authors. A noticeable feature of this book is that it emphasizes the experimental aspects of a large majority of problems. All problems are accompanied by detailed solutions: the calculations are clarified and their physical significance commented on in-depth. Within the solutions, the basic concepts from undergraduate lectures in classical mechanics, necessary to solve the problems, are recalled when needed. The authors systematically mention recent bibliographical references (most of them freely accessible via the Internet) allowing the reader to deepen their understanding of the subject, and thus contributing to the building of a general culture in physics./a

Book Challenging Modern Physics

Download or read book Challenging Modern Physics written by Al Kelly and published by Universal-Publishers. This book was released on 2005 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Newton's Laws held for 300 years until Einstein developed the 'special theory of relativity' in 1905. Experiments done since then show anomalies in that theory. This book starts with a description of the special theory of relativity. It is shown that Einstein was not the first to derive the famous equation E = mc2, which has become synonymous with his name. Next, experimental evidence that cannot be explained by special relativity is given. In the light of this evidence, the two basic postulates of the special theory of relativity on the behaviour of light are shown to be untenable. A new theory (universal relativity) is developed, which conforms to the experimental evidence. The movement of a conductor near a pole of a magnet and the movement of that pole near the conductor does not always give the same result. It has been claimed that this contradicts relativity theory. Experiments described in this book show that it is not special relativity but another basic law of physics that is contradicted - Faraday's Law. The Big Bang theory of the beginning of the universe is questioned and an alternative proposed. The source of much of the mysterious missing 'dark matter' that has been sought for decades by astronomers is located. An explanation of the shapes of some galaxies is proffered. This book presents an alternative to Einstein's special theory of relativity, solves many problems left unanswered by special relativity, gives a better fit to many phenomena and experimental data and is more philosophically appealing. It is recommended to all people interested in fundamental issues of physics and cosmology. Professor Andre Assis, Brazil The book treats its subject properly, not just as an impersonal set of equations, but rather as a developing saga full of human triumph and failure. One learns from both experimental results and simple logical argument that all is not well with modern physics. Dr. Neal Graneau, Oxford University, U.K. Irish engineer solves the dark secrets of space. Sunday Times, U.K. Einstein got relativity theory wrong. Bangkok Post, Thailand

Book excerpt: There are some unanswered questions in modern physics that modern physics does not have answers for, that it is due to the inability of theories. Some physicists believe that by combining general relativity and quantum mechanics, these problems may be resolved and the unanswered questions will be answered. In all of these efforts, the classical physic has been ignored, while nature is unique and all physical phenomena, from the microscopic or the macroscopic ones are obeying the same law. Therefore to solve the contemporary physics problems, in this book from a new approach, the basic concepts and relations of modern physics are reviewed and analyzed. Then, three contemporary theories which combine constructs from several different theoretical perspectives are described to show how classical mechanics, relativity and quantum mechanics can be combined coherently.
