Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nuclear Spectroscopy, Part A deals with the experimental and theoretical techniques involved in nuclear spectroscopy. This book discusses the interactions of charged particles with matter, gaseous ionization detectors, and particular mass attenuation coefficients. The magnetic gamma-ray spectrometers for photo or internal-conversion electrons, general characteristics of cross-section variation with energy, and measurement of fast neutron spectra are also elaborated. This text likewise covers the elastic scattering of photons by nuclei and measurement of widths of gamma-radiating levels. This publication is recommended for graduate students preparing for experimental research in nuclear spectroscopy, students who have completed graduate-level courses in quantum mechanics and nuclear physics, and specialists who wish to acquire a broader understanding of nuclear spectroscopy.

Book Exotic Nuclear Spectroscopy

    Book Details:
  • Author : William C. McHarris
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2012-12-06
  • ISBN : 1461536847
  • Pages : 661 pages

Download or read book Exotic Nuclear Spectroscopy written by William C. McHarris and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 661 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Several hundred nuclear scientists from more than a dozen countries met in Miami Beach, Florida, in September 1989 for a Symposium on Exotic Nuclear Spectroscopy, sponsored by the Division of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology of the Amencan Chemical Society. Braving five days of beckoning beaches, they presented, listened to, and discussed a series spectroscopy-both experimental and of invited papers covering the renaissance of nuclear theoretical-that has occurred during the past decade and which promises to continue well into the decade to come. This book contains the Proceedings of that Symposium on Exotic Nuclear Spectroscopy. But it is much more: During the ensuing six months, most of the pa{>ers were rewritten, polished, and/or expanded; so the resulting book is a much more fimshed, comprehensive, and up-to-date product than a general proceedings. Chapter se~uences follow the original symposium program, which, with a few exceptions, juxtaposes like topics. Each chapter can stand more or less on its own-although, as in any complex, interrelated scientific field, there are many cross-references among chapters. The manuscripts were edited and then uniformly typed in the Department of Chemistry at Michigan State University. I tried to keep the editing to a minimum so as to preserve the flavor of individual styles. A great debt of gratitude goes to those who helped make this volume possible, especially to Vada O'Donnell, who bore the largest burden of typing (and clarifying) the manuscripts.

Book Nuclear Spectroscopy and Reactions 40 C

Download or read book Nuclear Spectroscopy and Reactions 40 C written by Joseph Cerny and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 609 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nuclear Spectroscopy and Reactions, Part C covers information regarding the development of nuclear spectroscopy and its reactions, while emphasizing in-beam spectroscopy. This part covers gamma-ray spectroscopy and other relevant topics that are not discussed in the previous parts. Comprised of only two sections, this book first covers topics relevant to gamma-ray spectroscopy, such as the excitation and reorientation of coulombs; magnetic moments of excited fields; gamma rays from capture reactions; spectroscopy from fission; angular correlation methods; and lifetime measurements. The second section covers other topics that are relevant to nuclear spectroscopy, such as photonuclear reactions; nuclear spectroscopy from delayed particle emission; in-beam atomic spectroscopy; effects of extranuclear fields on nuclear radiations; and a guide to nuclear compilations. This book is written to primarily benefit graduate students who are engaged in research that concerns nuclear spectroscopy.

Book Nuclear Spectroscopy and Reactions 40 A

Download or read book Nuclear Spectroscopy and Reactions 40 A written by Joseph Cerny and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 539 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nuclear Spectroscopy and Reactions, Part A covers information regarding the development of nuclear spectroscopy and its reactions, while emphasizing in-beam spectroscopy. This part specifically covers concerns regarding accelerators, specialized auxiliary equipment, and measurement techniques for charged particles and gamma rays. Organized into three major sections, this book first discusses accelerators in low- and intermediate-energy nuclear physics, and then covers electrostatic accelerators, cyclotron, and specialized accelerators. The second section covers polarized beam and targets, as well as on-line mass separations. The last section discusses the measurement of charged particle and gamma ray spectra including the detection of semiconductor radiation, large Nal, and charged particles. This book is written to primarily benefit graduate students who are engaged in research that concerns nuclear spectroscopy.

Book Handbook of Nuclear Spectrometry

Download or read book Handbook of Nuclear Spectrometry written by Juhani Kantele and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 1995-08-15 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Handbook of Nuclear Spectrometry distills material from many disparate sources and brings widely applicable nuclear spectrometry information into an easily accessible form. The Handbook is divided into two parts. Part I consists of the text which covers such fundamental topics as atomic phenomena, interaction of radiation with matter, and beta-ray, conversion-electron, and gamma-ray spectrometry. To complement the text, Part II is a seriesof practical computer programs provided on an accompanying diskette. Part II is written in Microsoft BASICA and provides the user with a way to modify programs to meet their own specific needs. The Handbook includes formulae, tables, graphs, and extensive references which make it an invaluable resource for post-graduate nuclear science students, as well as nuclear physicists and chemists. Key Features * This text includes, Examples, to give an order-of-magnitude picture of phenomena * Graphs, for obtaining a quick approximation of a quantity * References, to Part II (the accompanying computer program) to aid in the use of the codes found in the text * Comments, to clarify important points * Simple rules of thumb * References, to works containing more-detailed information on a given subject
