Download or read book NPS PASCAL A Microcomputer based Implementation of the PASCAL Programming Language written by Konrad Stephen Tinius and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NPS-PASCAL is a student research project at the Naval Postgraduate School, the goal of which is the implementation of the PASCAL programming language on a microcomputer system. NPS-PASCAL will consist of two programs, a compiler which produces intermediate code, and an interpreter, which will interpret the intermediate code, or a translator, which will produce target machine code. NPS-PASCAL is designed to conform to the requirements of the PASCAL Standard, as defined by the British Standards Institute/International Standards Organization Working Draft/3. The compiler program, the subject of this thesis, performs the lexical, syntactic and semantic analysis of a PASCAL program. NPS-PASCAL is written in INTEL's PL/M-80 programming language and executes on the CP/M operating system. (Author).

Book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences

Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by W. H. Shafer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and dis seminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) * at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the ac tivity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all concerned if the printing and distribution of the volume were handled by an international publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Corporation of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 24 (thesis year 1979) a total of 10,033 theses titles from 26 Canadian and 215 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for theses titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. While Volume 24 reports these submitted in 1979, on occasion, certain universities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.

Book PASCAL User Manual and Report

Download or read book PASCAL User Manual and Report written by K. Jensen and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-12-14 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This manual is directed to those who have previously acquired some programming skill. The intention is to provide a means of learning Pascal without outside guidance. It is based on !he Prpgramming ~angyage e~ (Bev1sed B~) [1]--the basic definition of Pascal and concise reference manual for the experienced Pascal programmer. The linear structure of a book is by no means ideal for introducing a language, whether it be a formal or natural one, Nevertheless, it is recommended to follow the given organiZation, paying particular attention to the example programs, and then to reread those sections causing difficultes. One may wish, however, to reference chapter 12 if troubles arise concerning the input and output conventions of the programs. The manual was prepared as a file on a computer, that is , as a sequence of characters of a single type font. This is very convenient for the purposes of updating: unfortunately, it is sometimes a bit awkward to read. The reader is asked to be indulgent with the absence of sub- and superscripts (e.g. m raised to the power n is denoted by m**n).

Book Pascal User Manual and Report

Download or read book Pascal User Manual and Report written by Kathleen Jensen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: puter system. In 1971 one computer system had a Pascal compiler. By 1974 the number had grown to 10 and in 1979 there were more than 80. Pascal is always available on those ubiquitous breeds of computer systems: personal computers andl professional workstations. Questions arising out of the Southampton Symposium on Pascal in 1977 [Reference 10] began the first organized effort to write an officially sanctioned, international Pascal Standard. Participants sought to consolidate the list of questions that naturally arose when people tried to implement Pascal compilers using definitions found in the Pascal User Manual and Report. That effort culminated in the ISO 7185 Pascal Standard [Reference 11] which officially defines Pascal and necessitated the revision of this book. We have chosen to modify the User Manual and the Report with respect to the Standard - not to make this book a substitute for the Standard. As a result this book retains much of its readability and elegance which, we believe, set it apart from the Standard. We updated the syntactic notation to Niklaus Wirth's EBNF and improved the style of programs in the User Manual. For the convenience of readers familiar with previous editions of this book, we have included Appendix E which summarizes the changes necessitated by the Standard.

  • Pages : 305 pages

Download or read book Pascal SC written by Gerd Bohlender and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-10 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Perspectives in Computing, Vol. 17: Pascal-SC: A Computer Language for Scientific Computation focuses on the application of Pascal-SC, a programming language developed as an extension of standard Pascal, in scientific computation. The publication first elaborates on the introduction to Pascal-SC, a review of standard Pascal, and real floating-point arithmetic. Discussions focus on optimal scalar product, standard functions, real expressions, program structure, simple extensions, real floating-point arithmetic, vector and matrix arithmetic, and dynamic arrays. The text then examines functions and operators with arbitrary result types and solving problems with Pascal-SC. The book ponders on strings and text processing, dynamic arrays, and modules. Topics include declaration and use of modules, compatibility of static and dynamic arrays, dynamic result types of functions and operators, strings in procedures, functions, and operators, and declaration of string variables. The publication is a dependable reference for computer science experts and researchers interested in the application of Pascal-SC in scientific computation.

Book A Practical Introduction to Pascal

Download or read book A Practical Introduction to Pascal written by WILSON/ADDYMAN and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The popularity of Pascal as a teaching language has rapidly increased, as demonstrated by Addyman's survey conducted over a11 European and American institutions (Comput. Bull., Se ries 2,8, June 1976,31). This is due both to the desirable features of the language and to the ease of producing an efficient com piler. As an instance of the latter, the authors have investigated the full CDC CYBER compiler and found it to throughput at 1.8 times the rate of the manu facturer's Fortran compiler. These features of the language and compilers have also been favourably regarded by system programmers and users of rnicroprocessors. In the latter field, it is the belief of the authors that Pascal will supersede the programming language BASIC. Specifically, undergraduates in the Department of Computer Science at Manchester University program largely in Pascal. An introductory le~ture course on basic programming techniques, given at Manchester, has been taken as a basis for this book. In addition to lectures, the course consists of two kinds of practical session. The first is based on the solution of short pencil-and-paper exercises. The second requires the student to write complete programs and run them in an 'edit and go' mode on interactive computer terminals. Each chapter of the book conc1udes with exercises and problems suitable for these purposes. Although solutions to a11 of these are not presented in the book, teaching staff may obtain them by application to the authors.
