Book Noise Abatement Economic Policy Analysis Model NAEPAM Volume I

Download or read book Noise Abatement Economic Policy Analysis Model NAEPAM Volume I written by and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report examines the role of economic disincentive as an inducement to noise abatement. The particular disincentive analyzed is a system of noise emission charges (NEC) which is imposed at airports on commercial aircraft operations which are above maximum noise emission allowances. The methodology developed is in the form of a mathematical programming (MP) model which seeks to minimize the total cost of a disincentive-based policy. Preliminary analyses conducted with the model indicate (qualitatively) that the method of noise emission charges, administered at the airport level on operations exceeding the current noise emission standards, is an economically feasible method for inducing noise abatement. The single most critical assumption underlying this conclusion is that if the NEC administration is voluntary, then a sufficient number of airports must impose the charges. The modeling concept presented is suitable for the analysis of a broad spectrum of aviation economic policy related issues. (Author).

Book Turnock s Public Health What It Is and How It Works

Download or read book Turnock s Public Health What It Is and How It Works written by Guthrie S. Birkhead and published by Jones & Bartlett Learning. This book was released on 2020-09-28 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using a straightforward systems approach, Turnock’s Public Health: What It Is and How It Works explores the inner workings of the complex, modern U.S. public health system—what it is, what it does, how it works, and why it is important. Divided into two parts, Part I of the text focuses on the key elements of public health practice in 21st Century America, while Part II offers case studies designed to emphasize what public health is and how it works in practice. Collectively, this text gives students an understanding of the key concepts underlying public health as a system and social enterprise while enabling them to practice their knowledge with real-life public health problems, programs, and initiatives. The Seventh Edition introduces the concept of “Public Health 3.0”, with its new set of recommendations for updated public health practice in the 21st century and forms a unifying thread through the first six chapters of the book. A new appendix addresses COVID-19.

After defining Public Health and looking at the current U.S. public health system and practice, the book looks at population health measurement, policy development, and collaboration between the public health and the health system. Final chapters explore career opportunities in public health administration, epidemiology, public health nursing, and health education as well as emerging ones such as health information technologists, emergency managers, and more. Helpful learning tools such as chapter exercises and discussion questions, making it an ideal text to prepare your students for the profession of public health.

Book Handbook of Adolescent Development

Download or read book Handbook of Adolescent Development written by Sandy Jackson and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2020-01-29 with total page 551 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Handbook of Adolescent Development fills a gap in the literature on adolescent development and behaviour: all of the authors of the various chapters were invited to include as many findings on European adolescents as possible. Through this specific emphasis, the handbook provides a complement to other reviews of the literature that are mostly based on North American samples. The contributors are all eminent researchers in the field and the individual chapters cover their specific areas of expertise. Theories of adolescence, along with emotional, physical and cognitive issues, are explored. Topics covered include families, peer relations, school and leisure time, as well as problem areas such as depression, drug consumption and delinquency. Handbook of Adolescent Development also incorporates a comprehensive review of the literature in the area and considers avenues for future research. This multidisciplinary text will be of interest to those studying and researching in the fields of developmental psychology, sociology, demography, epidemiology and criminology.
