This book was released on 2012 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A practical, fast-paced approach to teaching the concepts and problems common in petroleum engineering that will appeal to a wide range of disciplines Petrophysics is the study of rock properties and their interactions with fluids, including gases, liquid hydrocarbons, and aqueous solutions. This three-volume series from distinguished University of Texas professor Dr. Ekwere J. Peters provides a basic understanding of the physical properties of permeable geologic rocks and the interactions of the various fluids with their interstitial surfaces, with special focus on the transport properties of rocks for single-phase and multiphase flow. Based on Dr. Peters's graduate course that has been taught internationally in corporations and classrooms, the series covers core topics and includes full-color CT and NMR images, graphs, and figures to illustrate practical application of the material. Topics addressed in volume 2 (chapters 5-8) include - Dispersion in porous media - Interfacial phenomena and wettability - Capillary pressure - Relative permeability Advanced Petrophysics features over 140 exercises designed to strengthen learning and extend concepts into practice. Additional information in the appendices covers dimensional analysis and a series of real-world projects that enable the student to apply the principles presented in the text to build a petrophysical model using well logs and core data from a major petroleum-producing province.

This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main aim of this paper is to present some new and general results, ap plicable to the the equations of two phase flow, as formulated in geothermal reservoir engineering. Two phase regions are important in many geothermal reservoirs, especially at depths of order several hundred metres, where ris ing, essentially isothermal single phase liquid first begins to boil. The fluid then continues to rise, with its temperature and pressure closely following the saturation (boiling) curve appropriate to the fluid composition. Perhaps the two most interesting theoretical aspects of the (idealised) two phase flow equations in geothermal reservoir engineering are that firstly, only one component (water) is involved; and secondly, that the densities of the two phases are so different. This has led to the approximation of ignoring capillary pressure. The main aim of this paper is to analyse some of the consequences of this assumption, especially in relation to saturation changes within a uniform porous medium. A general analytic treatment of three dimensional flow is considered. Pre viously, three dimensional modelling in geothermal reservoirs have relied on numerical simulators. In contrast, most of the past analytic work has been restricted to one dimensional examples.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book represents the first comprehensive reference volume available on subsurface transport and fate processes. The volume is organized into four sections covering the basics of contaminant properties and how they affect transport and fate, the fundamental processes affecting subsurface transport and fate of contaminants, applications of transport and fate information to various contaminant types, and utilization of transport and fate information for predicting contaminant behavior. Specific topics such as traditional hydrodynamic processes of advection and dispersion, facilitated transport and contaminant flushing, and individual ground water contaminants are also explored in detail. Subsurface Transport and Fate Processes is ideal for environmental and ground water consultants, regulatory agency personnel, and educators in geology, hydrogeology, civil engineering, and environmental engineering.
