Book Modern Surgical Neuropathology with CD ROM

Download or read book Modern Surgical Neuropathology with CD ROM written by Douglas C. Miller and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2009-07-27 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The nervous system constitutes arguably the most complex organ system in the human body, which contributes to the over-susceptibility of disease in this area. Although brain tumors were once an automatic death sentence, the outlook for recovery has brightened significantly in the past decade. The pathologist plays an indispensable role in surgical diagnosis; he or she must accurately diagnose a potentially wide array of disease entities, determine the spread of disease within millimeters, and assess patient prognosis. This new and modern reference in neuropathology comprehensively covers all the methods used by pathologists to accurately diagnose a wide array of neurologic illnesses. Brain and spinal cord tumors are the predominant focus, but a full spectrum of infectious, inflammatory, and congenital disorders are also covered in detail, in both pediatric and adult populations, with a full range of diagnostic modalities. The book is illustrated with more than 1,200 full-color photomicrographs and accompanied by a CD-ROM of all images in a downloadable format.

Book Practical Surgical Neuropathology

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Practical Surgical Neuropathy-a volume in the new Pattern Recognition series- offers you a practical guide to solving the problems you encounter in the surgical reporting room. Drs. Arie Perry and Daniel J. Brat present diagnoses according to a pattern-based organization that guides you from a histological pattern, through the appropriate work-up, around the pitfalls, and to the best diagnosis. Lavish illustrations capture key neuropathological patterns for a full range of common and rare conditions, and a "visual index" at the beginning of the book directs you to the exact location of in-depth diagnostic guidance. No other single source delivers the practical, hands-on information you need to solve even the toughest diagnostic challenges in neuropathology. Includes fully searchable access to the text online at expertconsult.com, along with an image bank of over 1430 downloadable images and tables. Provides all the information essential for completing a sign-out report: clinical findings, pathologic findings, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis. Illustrates key pathologic and clinical aspects of disease entities through over 1430 superb, high-quality full-color images that help you evaluate and interpret biopsy samples. Presents a team of internationally recognized experts for authoritative and up-to-date information from leading diagnosticians in neuropathology. Features a user-friendly design with patterns color-coded to specific entities in the table of context and text and key points summarized in tables, charts, and graphs so you can quickly and easily find what you are looking for. Directs you to the chapter and specific page number of the in-depth diagnostic guidance you need through a unique, pattern-based visual index at the beginning of the book. Book Surgical neuropathology of focal epilepsies

Download or read book Surgical neuropathology of focal epilepsies written by Ingmar Blümcke and published by John Libbey Eurotext. This book was released on 2015-10-29 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The need for neuropathology reviews in epilepsy surgery tissues steadily increases. However, textbooks and case presentations highlighting and focusing on this specific topic are rare. The authors of this book reviewed their professional experience in surgical and post-mortem neuropathology studies to compile a coherent summary of: clinico-pathological findings, current classification schemes, useful protocols research data for major histopathological entities of brain lesions encountered in modern epilepsy surgery programs, which is hippocampal sclerosis, brain tumours associated with early epilepsy onset, malformations of cortical development, brain inflammation and malformative vascular lesions. They did not intend to be exhaustive but rather representative of the main lesions and pathologies encountered. Thirty-two illustrated cases constitute the core of this book and will be very helpful in current practice.

John Leigh Professor, Neuroscience Otolaryngology and Biomedical Engineering Case Western Reserve University University Hospitals and Veterans Affairs Medical Center Cleveland Ohio and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 1999-08-26 with total page 658 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Neurology of Eye Movements provides clinicians with a synthesis of current scientific information that can be applied to the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of ocular motility. Basic scientists will also benefit from descriptions of how data from anatomical, electrophysiological, pharmacological, and imaging studies can be directly applied to the study of disease. By critically reviewing such basic studies, the authors build a conceptual framework that can be applied to the interpretation of abnormal ocular motor behavior at the bedside. These syntheses are summarized in displays, new figures, schematics and tables. Early chapters discuss the visual need and neural basis for each functional class of eye movements. Two large chapters deal with the evaluation of double vision and systematically evaluate how many disorders of the central nervous system affect eye movements. This edition has been extensively rewritten, and contains many new figures and an up-to-date section on the treatment of abnormal eye movements such as nystagmus. A major innovation has been the development of an option to read the book from a compact disc, make use of hypertext links (which bridge basic science to clinical issues), and view the major disorders of eye movements in over 60 video clips. This volume will provide pertinent, up-to-date information to neurologists, neuroscientists, ophthalmologists, visual scientists, otalaryngologists, optometrists, biomedical engineers, and psychologists.

In surveying the reviews seemed to be primarily guided by whether expanse of currently available neuropathology illustrations were in color (good) or black and white textbooks, however, we came to feel that there was (bad). However, upon further reflection we accepted a place for a book that could combine our career this mandate as a blessing in disguise, allowing the experiences of trying to discern what is known (and reader to focus on differences in morphology, rather knowable) with the perennially proposed question, than tincture, as a guide to correct diagnosis. In fact, "What do we need to know?" Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook takes as a premise that, in order to make intelligent diagnosis and provide a rational treatment in disorders of the nervous system, it is necessary to develop the capacity to answer the basic questions of clinical neurology: (1) Where is the disease process located? (2) What is the nature of the disease process? The purpose of this textbook is to enable the medical student to acquire the basic information of the neurosciences and neurology and most importantly the ability to apply that information to the solution of clinical problems. The authors also suggest that hospital trips be a part of any Clinical Neurosciences Course so that the student can put into actual practice what he has learned in the classroom. We believe that this textbook will be of value to the student throughout the four years of the medical school curriculum. Medical, psychiatry and neurology residents may also find this text of value as an introduction or review.
