Book Characterization of Deep Marine Clastic Systems

Download or read book Characterization of Deep Marine Clastic Systems written by Adrian J. Hartley and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sandstone deposited in deep marine environments form important hydrocarbon reservoirs in many basins throghout the world. However, very few applied studies at a reservoir scale have been published. This publication has arisen from the perceived needs of the academic and industrial communities to understand the controls on the architecture and geometry of deep marine clastic reservoirs. It highlights some of the current avenues and potential ways forward in the study of deep marine clastic systems, particularly with application to hydrocarbon reservoirs.

Book Clastic Hydrocarbon Reservoir Sedimentology

Download or read book Clastic Hydrocarbon Reservoir Sedimentology written by Xinghe Yu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-04-03 with total page 720 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a comprehensive assessment of clastic sedimentology and its application to reservoir geology. It covers the theoretical foundations of the topic and its use for scientists as well as professionals in the field. Further, it addresses all aspects of reservoir sedimentology, clastic sequence stratigraphy, sedimentation, reservoir diagenesis and heterogeneity, as well as depositional systems (alluvial, fluvial, lacustrine, delta, sandy coast, neritic, deep-water) in detail. The research team responsible for this book has been investigating clastic sedimentology for more than three decades and consists of highly published and cited authors. The Chinese edition of this book has been a great success, and is popular among sedimentologists and petroleum geologists alike.

Book Reservoir Quality of Clastic and Carbonate Rocks

Download or read book Reservoir Quality of Clastic and Carbonate Rocks written by P.J. Armitage and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 2018-06-18 with total page 453 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reservoir quality is studied using a wide range of similar techniques in both sandstones and carbonates. Sandstone and carbonate reservoir quality both benefit from the study of modern analogues and experiments, but modelling approaches are currently quite different for these two types of reservoirs. There are many common controls on sandstone and carbonate reservoir quality, but also distinct differences due primarily to mineralogy. Numerous controversies remain including the question of oil inhibition, the key control on pressure solution and geochemical flux of material to or from reservoirs. This collection of papers contains case-study-based examples of sandstone and carbonate reservoir quality prediction as well as modern analogue, outcrop analogue, modelling and advanced analytical approaches.

Book Sedimentology of Paralic Reservoirs

Download or read book Sedimentology of Paralic Reservoirs written by G.J. Hampson and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 2017-07-20 with total page 431 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paralic reservoirs reflect a range of depositional environments including deltas, shoreline–shelf systems and estuaries. They provide the backbone of production in many mature basins, and contribute significantly to global conventional hydrocarbon production. However, the range of environments, together with relative sea-level and sediment supply changes, result in significant variability in their stratigraphic architecture and sedimentological heterogeneity, which translates into complex patterns of reservoir distribution and production that are challenging to predict, optimize and manage. This volume presents new research and developments in established approaches to the exploration and production of paralic reservoirs. The 13 papers in the volume are grouped into three thematic sections, which address: the sedimentological characterization of paralic reservoirs using subsurface data; lithological heterogeneity in paralic depositional systems arising from the influence of tidal currents; and paralic reservoir analogue studies of modern sediments and ancient outcrops. The volume demonstrates that heterogeneity in paralic reservoirs is increasingly well understood at all scales, but highlights gaps in our knowledge and areas of current research.

Book Carbonate Reservoirs

    Book Details:
  • Author : Clyde H. Moore
  • Publisher : Newnes
  • Release : 2013-08-12
  • ISBN : 0444538321
  • Pages : 389 pages

Download or read book Carbonate Reservoirs written by Clyde H. Moore and published by Newnes. This book was released on 2013-08-12 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 2nd Edition of Carbonate Reservoirs aims to educate graduate students and industry professionals on the complexities of porosity evolution in carbonate reservoirs. In the intervening 12 years since the first edition, there have been numerous studies of value published that need to be recognized and incorporated in the topics discussed. A chapter on the impact of global tectonics and biological evolution on the carbonate system has been added to emphasize the effects of global earth processes and the changing nature of life on earth through Phanerozoic time on all aspects of the carbonate system. The centerpiece of this chapter—and easily the most important synthesis of carbonate concepts developed since the 2001 edition—is the discussion of the CATT hypothesis, an integrated global database bringing together stratigraphy, tectonics, global climate, oceanic geochemistry, carbonate platform characteristics, and biologic evolution in a common time framework. Another new chapter concerns naturally fractured carbonates, a subject of increasing importance, given recent technological developments in 3D seismic, reservoir modeling, and reservoir production techniques. Detailed porosity classifications schemes for easy comparison Overview of the carbonate sedimentologic system Case studies to blend theory and practice
