Book Program Management

Download or read book Program Management written by Ginger Levin and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2012-08-29 with total page 585 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Program management is a rapidly emerging offshoot of project management. So much so that AT&T, IBM, and other organizations, both large and small in all sectors, have initiated a push to certify program managers. And, although universities offer courses in program management, there are few books available to guide program managers through this field that requires a broad level of knowledge and experience. The definitive reference on program management, Program Management: A Life Cycle Approach provides this much needed guidance. Edited by Dr. Ginger Levin, the second person to become a PMI® certified program manager (PgMP®), this handbook presents a cohesive compilation of program management knowledge from more than 20 certified PgMPs. It considers the entire program life cycle and its phases—from initiation to sustainability. Each chapter is written by an experienced PgMP from a wide range of industries and countries. Combining the rigor of an academic reference with easy-to-read language, the book covers the themes in the PMI Standard for Program Management and ties them to program managers' work. The chapters reference PMI’s standards, complement the concepts in the standards, and expand on the concepts and issues that the standard mentions in passing. The book also addresses a few issues that the standard does not touch on at all. The book can be read in its entirety, or specific chapters of interest can be read separately. Overall, the book provides practitioners with a reliable source of information on the key themes and issues in program management. It is useful for individuals desiring to attain the PgMP credential and suitable for colleges and universities offering courses in program management.

Book Undergraduate Curricular Peer Mentoring Programs

Download or read book Undergraduate Curricular Peer Mentoring Programs written by Tania S. Smith and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2012-12-15 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Curricular peer mentoring is a programmatic approach to enrich student learning and engagement in postsecondary courses in which instructors welcome a more experienced undergraduate student into a credit course they are teaching. The student then serves as peer mentor to the students enrolled. Peer mentors can provide a variety of peer-appropriate, course-specific mentoring, tutoring, facilitation and leadership roles and activities that complement the roles of the course’s instructor and teaching assistants both in classroom settings and beyond. A program provides training and ongoing support for a larger number of peer mentors and instructional teams and manages recruitment and program research and quality. This volume provides research findings, definitions, theories, and practical program descriptions as a foundation for program development and research of undergraduate curricular peer mentoring programs in higher education. This work builds on a long history of higher education program development and collects a significant amount of literature that has previously been scattered.

Book Review of the Research Program of the Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles

Download or read book Review of the Research Program of the Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2001-10-17 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the most recent report of the National Research Council's Standing Committee to Review the Research Program of the Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles (PNGV), which has conducted annual reviews of the PNGV program since it was established in late 1993. The PNGV is a cooperative R&D program between the federal government and the United States Council for Automotive Research (USCAR, whose members are DaimlerChrysler, Ford Motor Company, and General Motors) to develop technologies for a new generation of automobiles with up to three times the fuel economy of a 1993 midsize automobile. The reports review major technology development areas (four-stroke direct-injection engines, fuel cells, energy storage, electronic/electrical systems, and structural materials); the overall adequacy of R&D efforts; the systems analysis effort and how it guides decisions on R&D; the progress toward long-range component and system-level cost and performance goals; and efforts in vehicle emissions and advanced materials research and how results target goals. Unlike previous reports, the Seventh Report comments on the goals of the program, since the automotive market and U.S. emission standards have changed significantly since the program was initiated.
