Book excerpt: In this unforgettable sequel to her best-selling autobiography, Miracle of Miracles, Mina Nevisa tells the forty-year saga of her father, the opulently wealthy son of an Iranian ayatollah, who at age 77 has a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ.Overcome by his miraculous revelation, Mina's father is released from a lifetime of religious oppression-only to face perils of an altogether different sort. The imprisonment and torture of his youngest son; his own clandestine, dangerous meetings with other Christian converts; his fight to find and to restore his relationship with his daughter Mina, whom he had disowned for apostasy-all this takes place against the backdrop of the vigilant and powerful Islamic police.A daring and compelling tale, Forbidden Miracles masterfully exposes the lies and deceptions of Islam. You will marvel to read about cruel kidnappings, pulse-pounding rescues, intriguing testimonies, and a powerful love story. This is a wake-up call to Chris-tians, Muslims, and people from all walks of life facing persecution or longing for religious freedom. In Jesus Christ there are miracles! Mina Nevisa and her husband were born to fundamentalist Muslim families in Iran. After both were miraculously converted to Christianity in the early eighties, they were forced to flee their homeland. While living in Europe, they founded Touch of Christ Ministries in 1991, and they now reside in the USA. Their joy is seeing Muslims embrace the Lordship of Jesus Christ and become equipped to boldly witness about His saving, healing power. Their ministry also oversees operations smuggling Bibles into numerous Islamic-controlled countries. Their testimonies have moved thousands. They accept invitations to churches and conferences throughout Europe and the USA. Mina is frequently interviewed on radio broadcasts in relation to Islamic-Christian issues. Security concerns have restricted televised interviews.

Book Do Miracles Happen Today

Download or read book Do Miracles Happen Today written by Tim Chester and published by The Good Book Company. This book was released on 2020-03-01 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many extraordinary things happen in the Bible. People walk on water. People touch handkerchiefs and are healed. People disappear into the sky. Did these events really happen? What was their purpose? And do miracles happen today? How do we respond if someone says they’ve seen a miracle happen? Should we hold healing services? What can I say to a child about praying for healing? How should we react when prayers for healing aren’t answered? In this warm and accessible book, Tim Chester looks at the Bible's view of the existence and purpose of miracles and gives a careful and balanced view on whether healings and other miraculous things happen today. It will help Christians to explore these questions and others regarding miracles, signs and wonders, and know how to pray. Includes additional questions on: • Why did Jesus tell people not to tell others about his miracles? • How should I respond when I hear a claim that a miracle has happened? • Should we hold healing services? • What can I say to a child about praying for healing?

Book The Invention of Miracles

Download or read book The Invention of Miracles written by Katie Booth and published by Scribe Publications. This book was released on 2021-03-30 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A revelatory revisionist biography of Alexander Graham Bell — renowned inventor of the telephone and powerful enemy of the deaf community. When Alexander Graham Bell first unveiled his telephone to the world, it was considered miraculous. But few people know that it was inspired by another supposed miracle: his work teaching the deaf to speak. The son of one deaf woman and husband to another, he was motivated by a desire to empower deaf people by integrating them into the hearing world, but he ended up becoming their most powerful enemy, waging a war against sign language and deaf culture that still rages today. The Invention of Miracles tells the dual stories of Bell’s remarkable, world-changing invention and his dangerous ethnocide of deaf culture and language. It also charts the rise of deaf activism and tells the triumphant tale of a community reclaiming a once-forbidden language. Katie Booth has researched this story for over a decade, poring over Bell’s papers, Library of Congress archives, and the records of deaf schools around America. Witnessing the damaging impact of Bell’s legacy on her deaf family set her on a path that upturned everything she thought she knew about language, power, deafness, and technology.

Book Miracles of Our Lady

Download or read book Miracles of Our Lady written by Gonzalo de Berceo and published by University Press of Kentucky. This book was released on 2014-10-17 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Miracle tales, in which people are rewarded for piety or punished for sin through the intervention of the Virgin Mary, were a popular literary form all through the Middle Ages. Milagros de Nuestra Sehora, a collection of such stories by the Spanish secular priest Gonzalo de Berceo, is a premier example of this genre; it is also regarded as one of the four most important texts of medieval Spain. Difficulties in translating this work have made it unavailable in English except in fragments; now Spanish-language scholars Richard Terry Mount and Annette Grant Cash have made the entire work accessible to English readers for the first time. Berceo's miracle tales use the verse form cuaderna via (fourfold way) of fully rhymed quatrains -- which Berceo may even have invented -- and are told in the language of the common man. They were written to be read aloud, most likely to an audience of pilgrims, and are an outstanding example of oral religious narrative. The total work comprises twenty-five miracles, preceded by a renowned Introduction that celebrates the Virgin in rich symbolic allegory. Mount and Cash's translation is highly readable, yet it retains the original meaning and captures Berceo's colloquial style and medieval nuances. An introduction placing the miracles in their medieval context and a bibliography complement the text.

Book Miracles Still Happen Trust Me

Download or read book Miracles Still Happen Trust Me written by Mary LaShonda Webber and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2018-01-22 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Miracles Still Happen . . . Trust Me is about a young African-American woman from a rural country town of Northwest Louisiana (Coushatta) who had some unfortunate tragedies throughout life that began with being molested by two uncles. This molestation set the tone for keeping secrets throughout her life's journey. With a hidden teenage pregnancy, suicide attempt, homelessness, a failed abusive marriage, surviving cancer, and a neurological disorder, which resulted in a total body paralysis, it is only through continued prayer and strong faith in God's divine promises that she overcomes the many challenges from childhood through her adult years. Throughout her life, she experiences trials, tragedies, and triumphs. However, it is not until she is challenged with a total body paralysis and has to depend on her thirteen-year-old son as her caretaker that her faith is tested greater than ever before, and she regains the most compelling spiritual, mental, and emotional connection with God. Miracles Still Happen . . . Trust Me shows how God chose a broken, hurt, country girl who mothered a child out of wedlock and protected her from death numerous times to witness and share her life's miracles. These same miracles would be used to encourage every soul to pray, to build a relationship with God, and to never give up or never let anyone's opinion define who you are or determine who you can become. Each of us is a unique miracle from God. Each time life begins, a miracle happens. Every walk of life is designed to build and mold you into the miracle that you are. If only we would have faith, learn to listen, obey, and trust God's direction, we could rest assured that miracles still happen.
