Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The complete biblical historical fiction compilation by the New York Times bestselling author of Redeeming Love and A Voice in the Wind. The Bible is filled with inspiring stories of unlikely candidates God chose to change eternity. This bestselling compilation in one volume contains five novellas about such people―women in the family tree of Jesus Christ. Tamar. Rahab. Ruth. Bathsheba. Mary. Each was faced with extraordinary―even scandalous―challenges. But they had courage. They lived daring lives. Sometimes they made mistakes―big mistakes. And yet God, in His infinite mercy and grace, used them to bring forth the Christ, the Savior of the world. Their stories still hold great meaning and inspiration for us today. Tamar risked her life and reputation to be the woman she was called to be. See how the Lord uses our circumstances and our steps toward Him, however faltering, to fulfill His plan. Rahab was exploited by men who saw only her beauty, yet she held fast to her faith in God and was rewarded. Discover how God seeks and finds those whose hearts are tender toward Him, no matter how far away they are. Ruth’s loyalty, especially toward her mother-in-law Naomi, helped her persevere in the face of tragedy, and God gave her a second chance at love. Be encouraged that God will provide even when all hope seems lost. Bathsheba’s scandalous affair with David did not end in one night. Learn that God is willing to restore and redeem those lost in the depths of despair who call out to Him. Mary is one of the most revered women in history. But first, she was an ordinary woman striving to please God in the same way women still do today. When God spoke, Mary responded in obedience which changed the world forever. Each novella includes an in-depth Bible study perfect for personal reflection or group discussion. Watch these five women in the Bible come to life and learn from their examples of hope, faith, love, and obedience.

But when we understand womanhood through the lens of Scripture, we see that we need a bigger category for what God has called “woman.” This book breathes fresh air into our womanhood, reminding us what life in Christ—as a woman—looks like. When we see that we are women in all we do, we can be at peace with how God has created us, recognizing womanhood as an essential part of Christ’s mission and work.

Book The Five Women Of Mathew One

Download or read book The Five Women Of Mathew One written by Janet Jagers and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2018-02-16 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Janet Jagers has taught the Bible for forty-five years in women's Bible classes, Child Evangelism Fellowship, and Awana programs. She is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and is currently studying to become a biblical counselor through Light University. Janet is a survivor of breast cancer, Lyme disease, and lupus and writes to encourage other women as they go through similar trials. Seeing a need for studies on women in the Bible written from a woman's perspective, she is now turning her years of teaching notes into book form. Her greatest desire is to help women to develop a strong relationship with Jesus Christ and to pass their faith on to their children. She and her husband of fifty-five years, Donald, have three children who are all actively involved in Christian ministry, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Janet currently resides in South Carolina. Why are women mentioned in the genealogy of our Lord in the first chapter of Matthew? Why five women instead of three or four or even seven? And why these particular women who are so very different? Janet Jagers answers these and other questions in her book, The Five Women of Matthew 1. Listen to the stories of Tamar the Canaanite, Rahab the Harlot, Ruth the Moabite, Bathsheba the Israelite, and Mary the Mother of Jesus. As we study the lives of these five extraordinary women, we will discover wonderful truths like-no woman is so bad that she cannot be saved, and no woman is so good that she does not need to be saved. As their stories unfold, we will discover anew the unfathomable debt of God's amazing grace and unfailing love.

Download or read book Lives and Legacies written by Cheryl Rhodes and published by Fulton Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-10-19 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Women in Jesus’s Line Three of the five women in Jesus’s line were not born among the Chosen. This is a clear indication that The LORD God chooses without prejudice relative to family origin. Tamar was of use to her father only for his own security and well-being. She suffered abuse at the hands of three of the Chosen, but The Almighty saw in her the tenacity to be numbered among His own. God granted her two sons and entrance into the line of The Messiah. Rahab had a cursed origin and lifestyle. Never-the-less, her courage in giving the Hebrew spies refuge worked to save herself and her family when Israel took Jericho. People still refer to her as a harlot, though she was one of King David’s grandmothers. Ruth was grateful that her husband’s family went to Moab to escape a famine in Israel. Left a widow, Ruth chose to accompany her mother-in-law home. Yahweh blessed her decisions with a new life, a loving, godly husband, a son, and adoption into the line of The King of Kings. Bathsheba was taken from her husband, a loyal convert to Judaism, by the chosen Israelite king who was neglectful of his commitment to The LORD God. But she submitted to The Almighty and bore David four sons, including King Solomon. When Solomon took the throne, he honored his mother. Though Mary was young and knew the consequences of being with child outside of marriage, she accepted Gabriel’s message with courage. She didn’t understand the messages she received, but she kept them in her heart. She saw her son resurrected from the dead, in power and great glory.

Book Mary and Early Christian Women

Download or read book Mary and Early Christian Women written by Ally Kateusz and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-02-18 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is open access under a CC BY-NC-ND license. This book reveals exciting early Christian evidence that Mary was remembered as a powerful role model for women leaders—women apostles, baptizers, and presiders at the ritual meal. Early Christian art portrays Mary and other women clergy serving as deacon, presbyter/priest, and bishop. In addition, the two oldest surviving artifacts to depict people at an altar table inside a real church depict women and men in a gender-parallel liturgy inside two of the most important churches in Christendom—Old Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome and the second Hagia Sophia in Constantinople. Dr. Kateusz’s research brings to light centuries of censorship, both ancient and modern, and debunks the modern imagination that from the beginning only men were apostles and clergy.

Book What Did Jesus Look Like

Download or read book What Did Jesus Look Like written by Joan E. Taylor and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2018-02-08 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus Christ is arguably the most famous man who ever lived. His image adorns countless churches, icons, and paintings. He is the subject of millions of statues, sculptures, devotional objects and works of art. Everyone can conjure an image of Jesus: usually as a handsome, white man with flowing locks and pristine linen robes. But what did Jesus really look like? Is our popular image of Jesus overly westernized and untrue to historical reality? This question continues to fascinate. Leading Christian Origins scholar Joan E. Taylor surveys the historical evidence, and the prevalent image of Jesus in art and culture, to suggest an entirely different vision of this most famous of men. He may even have had short hair.
