Book excerpt: En este libro se exponen y debaten las últimas investigaciones académicas sobre diversos temas en torno a un mismo eje común: trabajo y género. Se abordan ámbitos en los que las representaciones ideológicas sobre género y trabajo tienen una fuerte influencia: la economía informal, el trabajo femenino en la empresa, el trabajo doméstico, el trabajo a domicilio y el desarrollo y trabajo de las mujeres en el medio rural. En los diversos capítulos se demuestra que el género es un factor que, además de crear diferencia social, constituye como elemento ideológico una de las bases sobre las que se estructura la división social del trabajo y, de forma específica, las actividades “feminizadas” de la economía “informal” y “clandestina”. Se analizan las relaciones sociales productivas y su relación con la creación ideológica de género que las envuelve, a fin de evidenciar cómo es esa producción ideática cultural la que justifica la discriminación sexual en el trabajo de las mujeres, feminiza algunas técnicas y tareas dentro de los procesos productivos, y estructura cuáles y quiénes quedan dentro de la economía formal y quiénes no. Hemos tenido el privilegio de contar con la colaboración de algunos de los más acreditados expertos de España, México y Portugal en relaciones de género, economía informal, trabajo doméstico y trabajo a domicilio, en su mayoría profesores y profesoras de Antropología Social y Cultural, para ofrecer al lector una perspectiva actual, internacional e interuniversitaria de estos estudios, que son de un enorme interés social en el momento presente de crisis económica e internacioanalización de los mercados. Anastasia Téllez y Javier Eloy Martínez son doctores y profesores de Antropología Social y pertenecen al Seminario Interdisciplinar de Estudios de Género de la Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche. Una de sus líneas de investigación es el estudio cultural de las representaciones ideológicas sobre género y trabajo.
