Book Direct and Large Eddy Simulation III

Download or read book Direct and Large Eddy Simulation III written by Peter R. Voke and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1999-11-30 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The practical importance of turbulence led the U.K. Royal Academy of Engineering to launch an Initiative on Turbulence, the most important outcome of which was the definition and agreement of the 1999 Newton Institute Research Programme on Turbulence. The main aim of the- month programme, held at the institute in Cambridge, was to bring together the mathematics and engineering communities involved in the turbulence area to address the many problems and to map out future strategy. As a part of the Research Programme, a Symposium on Direct and Large-Eddy Simulation was jointly organised with ERCOFfAC through their Large-Eddy Simulation Interest Group and took place in May 1999. Two previous ERCOFf AC Workshops had already taken place on these closely related varieties of turbulence simulation, at The University of Surrey in 1994 and at Universite Joseph Fourier, Grenoble in 1996. The Symposium at Cambridge was therefore the third in the ERCOFTAC series, enhanced by the presence of leading figures in the field from Europe and the USA who were resident at INI for that period of the Research Programme. Professors M. Germano, A. Leonard, J. Jimenez, R. Kerr and S. Sarkar gave the invited lectures, text versions of which will be found in this volume. As occurred at the previous two ERCOFT AC workshops, there were almost one hundred participants mostly from Europe but including some from Japan and the USA, including on this occasion resident scientists of the INI Research Programme.

Book Multiphase reacting flows modelling and simulation

Download or read book Multiphase reacting flows modelling and simulation written by Daniele L. Marchisio and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-10-16 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the most widely applicable modeling approaches. Chapters are organized in six groups covering from fundamentals to relevant applications. The book covers particle-based methods and also discusses Eulerian-Eulerian and Eulerian-Lagrangian techniques based on finite-volume schemes. Moreover, the possibility of modeling the poly-dispersity of the secondary phases in Eulerian-Eulerian schemes by solving the population balance equation is discussed.

Book Modeling of Gas to Particle Mass Transfer in Turbulent Flows

Download or read book Modeling of Gas to Particle Mass Transfer in Turbulent Flows written by Sean C. Garrick and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-06-29 with total page 71 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Brief focuses on the dispersion of high-porosity particles, their entrainment into the vapor-laden stream, and the condensation of vapor onto the particles. The authors begin with a simple/static problem, focusing on transport within the particle. They go on to consider the high-resolution simulation of particles in a turbulent flow and the time-dependent evolution of the fluid-particle fields. Finally, they examine the more computationally-affordable large-eddy simulation of gas-to-particle mass-transfer. The book ends with a summary and challenges as well as directions for the area.

Book Droplets and Sprays

Download or read book Droplets and Sprays written by Saptarshi Basu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-12-11 with total page 433 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on droplets and sprays relevant to combustion and propulsion applications. The book includes fundamental studies on the heating, evaporation and combustion of individual droplets and basic mechanisms of spray formation. The contents also extend to the latest analytical, numerical and experimental techniques for investigating the behavior of sprays in devices like combustion engines and gas turbines. In addition, the book explores several emerging areas like interactions between sprays and flames and the dynamic characteristics of spray combustion systems on the fundamental side, as well as the development of novel fuel injectors for specific devices on the application side. Given its breadth of coverage, the book will benefit researchers and professionals alike.

Book Modelling and Experimentation in Two Phase Flow

Download or read book Modelling and Experimentation in Two Phase Flow written by Volfango Bertola and published by CISM International Centre for Mechanical Sciences. This book was released on 2003 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an up-to-date review of recent advances in the study of two-phase flows, with focus on gas-liquid flows, liquid-liquid flows, and particle transport in turbulent flows. The book is divided into several chapters, which after introducing basic concepts lead the reader through a more complex treatment of the subjects. The reader will find an extensive review of both the older and the more recent literature, with abundance of formulas, correlations, graphs and tables. A comprehensive (though non exhaustive) list of bibliographic references is provided at the end of each chapter. The volume is especially indicated for researchers who would like to carry out experimental, theoretical or computational work on two-phase flows, as well as for professionals who wish to learn more about this topic.
