Book Diary of Deception

Download or read book Diary of Deception written by Saundra Stone and published by . This book was released on 2008-02-01 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Saundra was presented with a request to help write Diary of Deception for her friend, Marsha Brooke, and after putting the pages of this diary in chronological order, Saundra knew instantly that together they would give birth to a slightly naughty novel. Marsha had scribbled on scraps of paper, and together, they worked many hours to create this book as Marsha could never have done it alone. Marsha, being homeless, wrote in the darkness of night in storefronts on tiny napkins and paper scraps. She told Saundra that she could take full credit for writing this book as long as she didn't change a single word that Marsha had written. Saundra agreed. It was Marsha's wish to inform the public of the problems she incurred because of her sexual addiction and she only hopes to prevent others from experiencing the same pain as she did. An addiction comes on so gradually that a person is not aware of it. The complications are not noticed until it is too late. Marsha made a complete circle in life, from being a victim of poverty as a child, to a young woman who had everything, but she wasn't satisfied. It is so easy to take the wrong path in life, and she did that, thanks to the many men who came into her life, and left her, resulting in a downward spiraling fall to destruction. Her four husbands and hundreds of men that she "knew" changed this woman from a happy person into another homeless and helpless victim of the negative aspects of life. Marsha had but one desire and grew more desperate to finish her task, which was writing this Novel to inform others of her situation, from which she couldn't see the light at the end of her tunnel. She felt there was no hope for her. All waslost. Saundra helped write her story, and didn't change a word, as agreed and when finished, both women knew the meaning of "complete happiness" for a message had been born for all to see. It is so easy to become an addict and many times there is no turning back. DIARY OF DECEPTION is a "must read" for all sexual addicts, their husbands/wives, the "other woman," and the unsuspecting spouse of the addict. This Novel tells all as we venture with Marsha down the side roads for two long years of her life. This diary will bring both tears and laughter to the reader. I hope you will enjoy reading this Biography as much as I enjoyed helping Marsha write it. There is a message for everyone in this novel and after reading it, I guarantee there will be a tear in your eyes. Through no fault of her own, we see a woman being destroyed, ever so slowly.

Book excerpt: A high-stakes fantasy rom-com about twin princesses separated at birth—one raised as the crown princess, and the other taken as an infant and raised to kidnap her sister, steal the crown, and avenge the parents' murders—the first novel in a new YA duology from bestselling UK authors Catherine Doyle and Katherine Webber. Perfect for fans of The Selection, My Lady Jane, and Caraval. Wren Greenrock has always known that one day she’d steal her sister’s place on the throne. Trained from birth to return to the palace and avenge her parents’ murder, she’ll do anything to become queen and protect the community of witches who raised her. Or she would, if only a certain guard wasn’t quite so distractingly attractive, and if her reckless magic would stop causing trouble. . . . Princess Rose Valhart knows that with power comes responsibility—and she won’t let a small matter like waking up in the desert with an extremely impertinent (and very handsome) kidnapper get in the way of her duty. But life outside the palace is wilder and more beautiful than she ever imagined, and the witches she has long feared might turn out to be the family she never had. But as coronation day looms and each sister strives to claim her birthright, an old enemy becomes increasingly determined that neither will succeed. Who will ultimately rise to power and wear the crown?

Book The Icarus Deception

Download or read book The Icarus Deception written by Seth Godin and published by Penguin UK. This book was released on 2012-12-31 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In The Icarus Deception, Seth Godin's most inspiring book, he challenges readers to find the courage to treat their work as a form of art Everyone knows that Icarus's father made him wings and told him not to fly too close to the sun; he ignored the warning and plunged to his doom. The lesson: Play it safe. Listen to the experts. It was the perfect propaganda for the industrial economy. What boss wouldn't want employees to believe that obedience and conformity are the keys to success? But we tend to forget that Icarus was also warned not to fly too low, because seawater would ruin the lift in his wings. Flying too low is even more dangerous than flying too high, because it feels deceptively safe. The safety zone has moved. Conformity no longer leads to comfort. But the good news is that creativity is scarce and more valuable than ever. So is choosing to do something unpredictable and brave: Make art. Being an artist isn't a genetic disposition or a specific talent. It's an attitude we can all adopt. It's a hunger to seize new ground, make connections, and work without a map. If you do those things you're an artist, no matter what it says on your business card. Godin shows us how it's possible and convinces us why it's essential. 'If Seth Godin didn't exist, we'd need to invent him' Fast Company 'Seth Godin is a demigod on the web, a bestselling author, highly sought-after lecturer, successful entrepreneur, respected pundit and high-profile blogger' Forbes Seth Godin is the author of thirteen international bestsellers that have changed the way people think about marketing, the ways ideas spread, leadership and change including Permission Marketing, Purple Cow, All Marketers are Liars, The Dip and Tribes. He is the CEO of Squidoo.com and a very popular lecturer. Download or read book A Force written by Whitney T Bendeck and published by Naval Institute Press. This book was released on 2013-10-15 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A” Force explores an area of World War II deception history that has often been neglected. While older studies have focused on the D-day deception campaign and Britain’s infamous double-agents, this work explores the origins of Britain’s deception activities to reveal how the British became such masterful deceivers. This is the first work to focus exclusively on "A" Force and the origins of British deception, examining how and why the British first employed deception in World War II. More specifically, it traces the development of the "A" Force organization—the first British organization to practice both tactical and strategic deception in the field. Formed in Cairo in 1941, "A" Force was headed by an unconventional British colonel named Dudley Wrangel Clarke. Because there was no precedent for Clarke's "A" Force, it truly functioned on a trial-and-error basis. The learning curve was steep, but Clarke was up for the challenge. By the Battle of El Alamein, British deception had reached maturity. Moreover, it was there that the “deceptionists” established the deception blueprint later used by the London planners to plan and execute Operation Bodyguard, the campaign to conceal Allied intentions for the D-day landing at Normandy. In contrast to earlier deception histories that have tended to focus on Britain’s later efforts emphasizing Operation Bodyguard, this work clearly shows that this strategy was forged much earlier in the deserts of Africa under the leadership of Dudley Clarke, not in London. Moreover, it was born not out of opportunity, but out of sheer desperation, when in June 1940 the British found themselves completely unprepared for war.

Book Mirages

Download or read book Mirages written by Anaïs Nin and published by Ohio University Press. This book was released on 2013-10-15 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mirages opens at the dawn of World War II, when Anaïs Nin fled Paris, where she lived for fifteen years with her husband, banker Hugh Guiler, and ends in 1947 when she meets the man who would be “the One,” the lover who would satisfy her insatiable hunger for connection. In the middle looms a period Nin describes as “hell,” during which she experiences a kind of erotic madness, a delirium that fuels her search for love. As a child suffering abandonment by her father, Anaïs wrote, “Close your eyes to the ugly things,” and, against a horrifying backdrop of war and death, Nin combats the world’s darkness with her own search for light. Mirages collects, for the first time, the story that was cut from all of Nin’s other published diaries, particularly volumes 3 and 4 of The Diary of Anaïs Nin, which cover the same time period. It is the long-awaited successor to the previous unexpurgated diaries Henry and June, Incest, Fire, and Nearer the Moon. Mirages answers the questions Nin readers have been asking for decades: What led to the demise of Nin’s love affair with Henry Miller? Just how troubled was her marriage to Hugh Guiler? What is the story behind Nin’s “children,” the effeminate young men she seemed to collect at will? Mirages is a deeply personal story of heartbreak, despair, desperation, carnage, and deep mourning, but it is also one of courage, persistence, evolution, and redemption that reaches beyond the personal to the universal.

Download or read book Deathly Deception written by Denis Smyth and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2010-06-16 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Operation Mincemeat retells the story of the classic World War Two intelligence plan to pass misleading strategic information to Hitler and his Generals that was immortalized in the 1956 Hollywood film The Man Who Never Was. Drawing on a wealth of recently available documentation, Denis Smyth shows how British deceptioneers solved a multitude of medical, technical, and logistical problems to implement their deceptive design. The aim of their covert plan was to persuade the German High Command that the Allies were going to attack Greece, rather than Sicily in the summer of 1943. To achieve this, they equipped a dead body with a new military identity as a Royal Marine Major, a new private personality as the fiancé of an attractive young woman named 'Pam', and a government briefcase containing deceptive documents. They then planted the corpse in south-western Spanish coastal waters via a stealthy submarine operation, and carefully monitored (through their codebreakers and spies) how the Nazi intelligence services and their warlords proceeded to 'swallow Mincemeat whole'. The result was a stunning success. The German mis-deployment of their forces to meet the notional Anglo-American threat to Greece materially contributed to the Allied victory in Sicily - which, in its turn, drove Mussolini from power in Italy and inflicted irreparable damage on the German war effort.

Download or read book Deception written by Adrian Levy and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2010-08-10 with total page 628 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The shocking, three-decade story of A. Q. Khan and Pakistan's nuclear program, and the complicity of the United States in the spread of nuclear weaponry. On December 15, 1975, A. Q. Khan-a young Pakistani scientist working in Holland-stole top-secret blueprints for a revolutionary new process to arm a nuclear bomb. His original intention, and that of his government, was purely patriotic-to provide Pakistan a counter to India's recently unveiled nuclear device. However, as Adrian Levy and Catherine Scott-Clark chillingly relate in their masterful investigation of Khan's career over the past thirty years, over time that limited ambition mushroomed into the world's largest clandestine network engaged in selling nuclear secrets-a mercenary and illicit program managed by the Pakistani military and made possible, in large part, by aid money from the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Libya, and by indiscriminate assistance from China. Based on hundreds of interviews in the United States, Pakistan, India, Israel, Europe, and Southeast Asia, Deception is a masterwork of reportage and dramatic storytelling by two of the world's most resourceful investigative journalists. Urgently important, it should stimulate debate and command a reexamination of our national priorities.
