Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: EL BIEN COMÚN EN LA POLICÍA, LA JUSTICIA Y LA GOBERNABILIDAD: UNA APROXIMACIÓN DESDE EL PENSAMIENTO DE SANTO TOMAS DE AQUINO.

Book Radicalization Terrorism and Conflict

Download or read book Radicalization Terrorism and Conflict written by Rachel Monaghan and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2013-07-26 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radicalization, Terrorism, and Conflict is a collection of scholarly works, authored by international researchers and leading thinkers, addressing contemporary, history-making issues in international security and terrorism from an interdisciplinary perspective. Contributors to this edited volume represent global perspectives, ideas, analysis, and research. Radicalization, Terrorism, and Conflict transmits relevant findings, theory, and policy ideas for scholars of security and terrorism studies, for policy makers, and to the general public who are interested in keeping up with this global area of concern. It provides a jumping-off point for conversation and collaboration that can lead to new knowledge and broader understanding. As an interdisciplinary collection of manuscripts, this book integrates and synthesizes theory, research, and public policy analysis in an effort to solve the complex questions and problems presented by this topic. Recognition of the need to approach the problems of radicalization, terrorism, and interpersonal conflict from an interdisciplinary perspective is gaining strength within academic settings, policy institutes, and global conferences. Unlike most recent edited books on the subject that are on the market at this time, Radicalization, Terrorism, and Conflict provides an interdisciplinary approach to understanding related current issues. This approach encourages a broader perspective and thought process, trans-discipline and global collaboration and cooperation, and an integrated synthesis of knowledge. Radicalization, Terrorism, and Conflict opens with an analysis of the ongoing phenomenon of the Arab Spring. In Section 1, contributors look at how players in the theatres of local and international terror become radicalized. Section 2 analyzes how terrorism becomes manifest in the global theatre and how governments and their actors attempt to prevent it. Section 3 presents research to bring understanding to the actors’ behavior and provide settings for future collaboration in understanding these phenomena.

Book Security in the Global Commons and Beyond

Download or read book Security in the Global Commons and Beyond written by J. Martín Ramírez and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-10 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with two areas: Global Commons and Security: inextricably melted together and more relevant than ever in a world which is ever globalized and... with an incognita looming on the horizon: the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic upon the International Relations and globalization. Global Commons have always been relevant. It was Mahan who argued that the first and most obvious light in which the sea presents itself from the political and social point of view, is that of a great highway; or better, perhaps, of a wide common... Nowadays, this view has been further developed and, in addition to the unique legal implications that the Global Commons introduce, they are viewed, more and more intently, as a common pool of resources. Or perhaps, not that common... Resources, the key word! Which has to be always supplemented by two key words: access and security. And still, another one: data, the cyberspace contribution to the equation.

Book Trial Error and Disappointment Davis v Goliath

Download or read book Trial Error and Disappointment Davis v Goliath written by Sammy Davis and published by Dorrance Publishing. This book was released on 2023-03-03 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Book Trial, Error, and Disappointment: Davis v. Goliath is about home ownership and the authors legal battle with their residential mortgage company. What makes the story interesting is that during their attempt to raise funds for legal fees, the author fell into a trap involving a well-structured scam. What makes this message relevant is that many were victims of the housing and financial crisis of 2007 while others are taken advantage of by scammers. What makes this book unique is the authors choosing to openly document their plight with both experiences, recognizing that others have experienced the same. The author would like readers to connect with their story, recognizing that our courts are "courts of laws" and not necessarily "courts of morals". Imagine that!

Book Using Open Data to Detect Organized Crime Threats

Download or read book Using Open Data to Detect Organized Crime Threats written by Henrik Legind Larsen and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-04-07 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work provides an innovative look at the use of open data for extracting information to detect and prevent crime, and also explores the link between terrorism and organized crime. In counter-terrorism and other forms of crime prevention, foresight about potential threats is vitally important and this information is increasingly available via electronic data sources such as social media communications. However, the amount and quality of these sources is varied, and researchers and law enforcement need guidance about when and how to extract useful information from them. The emergence of these crime threats, such as communication between organized crime networks and radicalization towards terrorism, is driven by a combination of political, economic, social, technological, legal and environmental factors. The contributions to this volume represent a major step by researchers to systematically collect, filter, interpret, and use the information available. For the purposes of this book, the only data sources used are publicly available sources which can be accessed legally and ethically. This work will be of interest to researchers in criminology and criminal justice, particularly in police science, organized crime, counter-terrorism and crime science. It will also be of interest to those in related fields such as applications of computer science and data mining, public policy, and business intelligence.

Book The Criminal Responsibility of Senior Political and Military Leaders as Principals to International Crimes

Download or read book The Criminal Responsibility of Senior Political and Military Leaders as Principals to International Crimes written by Héctor Olásolo and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2009-05-15 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As shown by the trials of Slobodan Milosevic, Charles Taylor and Saddam Hussein, the large-scale and systematic commission of international crimes is usually planned and set in motion by senior political and military leaders. Nevertheless, the application of traditional forms of criminal liability leads to the conclusion that they are mere accessories to such crimes. This does not reflect their central role and often results in a punishment which is inappropriately low in view of the impact of their actions and omissions. For these reasons, international criminal law has placed special emphasis on the development of concepts, such as control of the crime and joint criminal enterprise (also known as the common purpose doctrine), which aim at reflecting better the central role played by senior political and military leaders in campaigns of large scale and systematic commission of international crimes. The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court and the case law of the ICTY and the ICTR have, in recent years, played a unique role in the achievement of this goal.

Book Derechos humanos y transformaci n pol tica en contextos de violencia

Download or read book Derechos humanos y transformaci n pol tica en contextos de violencia written by DANIEL VAZQUEZ; ARIADNA ESTEVEZ. and published by FLACSO Mexico. This book was released on 2021 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
