Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book systematically introduces readers to the operator method, which can be used in different stages of urban planning. Energy planning should ideally be accompanied by urban planning, ranging from comprehensive planning and detailed planning, to the design of individual construction projects. This book discusses a range of methods and models for defining energy planning objectives; analyzing and predicting energy demand; assessing available energy resources; optimizing integrated energy systems; analyzing the cost-effectiveness of proposals; implementation management; and post-assessment. Part one focuses on energy planning in different urban planning stages, while part two provides detailed discussions of key issues related to energy planning.

Book Development of a Comprehensive Community Energy Management Plan for the City of Hobbs New Mexico

Download or read book Development of a Comprehensive Community Energy Management Plan for the City of Hobbs New Mexico written by The Center for Economic and Management Research, College of Business Administration and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this project was to develop both a process and .a product. The process is important because very little is known about planning energy programs for local governments. While comprehensive planning techniques have been used to develop physical and socioeconomic plans in recent years, the methodology for planning an energy program for local government is almost unknown, and although the contract product of this research was a "Comprehensive Community Energy Management Plan for the City of Hobbs, New Mexico," a meaningful part of the research effort was the development of the process for evolvement of the product. The plans for the research have largely been followed without modification, resulting, hopefully, in a quantum increase in the state of the art for comprehensive community planning. The report initially provides an analysis of the community structure and the present energy system of Hobbs, New Mexico, and then draws conclusions from such information.

Book Methodologies for Comprehensive Community Energy Management Planning

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In order to adress barriers to community energy-conservation efforts, DOE has established the Comprehensive Community Energy Management (CCEM) program. The role of CCEM is to provide direction and technical support for energy-conservation efforts at the local level. The program to date has included project efforts to develop combinations and variations of community energy planning and management tools applicable to communities of diverse characteristics. This paper describes the salient features of some of the tools and relates them to the testing program soon to begin in several pilot-study communities. Two methodologies that arose within such an actual planning context are taken from DOE-sponsored projects in Clarksburg, West Virginia and the proposed new capital city for Alaska. Energy management in smaller communities and/or communities with limited funding and manpower resources has received special attention. One project of this type developed in general methodology that emphasizes efficient ways for small communities to reach agreement on local energy problems and potential solutions; by this guidance, the community is led to understand where it should concentrate its efforts in subsequent management activities. Another project concerns rapid growth of either a new or an existing community that could easily outstrip the management resources available locally. This methodology strives to enable the community to seize the opportunity for energy conservation through integrating the design of its energy systems and its development pattern. The last methodology creates applicable tools for comprehensive community energy planning. (MCW).

Book Energy Master Planning toward Net Zero Energy Resilient Public Communities Guide

Download or read book Energy Master Planning toward Net Zero Energy Resilient Public Communities Guide written by Alexander Zhivov and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-06-13 with total page 739 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Best practices from around the world have proven that holistic Energy Master Planning can be the key to identifying cost-effective solutions for energy systems that depend on climate zone, density of energy users, and local resources. Energy Master Planning can be applied to various scales of communities, e.g., to a group of buildings, a campus, a city, a region, or even an entire nation. Although the integration of the energy master planning into the community master planning process may be a challenging task, it also provides significant opportunities to support energy efficiency and community resilience by increasing budgets for investments derived from energy savings, by providing more resilient and cost-effective systems, by increasing comfort and quality of life, and by stimulating local production, which boosts local economies. The Guide is designed to provide a valuable information resource for those involved in community planning: energy systems engineers, architects, energy managers, and building operators. Specifically, this Guide was developed to support the application of the Energy Master Planning process through the lens of best practices and lessons learned from case studies from around the globe. The Guide introduces concepts and metrics for energy system resilience methodologies, and discusses business and financial models for Energy Master Plans implementation. This information can help planners to establish objectives and constraints for energy planning and to select and apply available technologies and energy system architectures applicable to their diverse local energy supply and demand situations. This Guide is a result of research conducted under the International Energy Agency (IEA) Energy in Buildings and Communities (EBC) Program Annex 73 and the US Department of Defense Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP) project EW18-5281 to support the planning of Low Energy Resilient Public Communities process that is easy to understand and execute.
