Download or read book The Skinkadink written by Bradler Smith and published by Bradler Smith. This book was released on with total page 155 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ***A quest fantasy/fantasy fiction adventure … The good folk of Wilstrome had lived with the ever-looming threat of the Skinkadink - or as they often refer to it, the monster in the mountains - for as long as they could remember. After a previous failed attempt to destroy the foul beast, the Skinkadink went quiet. Many believed it had succumbed to its wounds and was not seen or heard of again ... until now. Worrying talk of sightings and missing farm animals had led some to believe that it was stirring again and would wreak havoc on Wilstrome once more. The brave, sword cane fighting weasel, Plodweasel and his best friend, a rare two-footed scritch, known as Tamfoot, are tasked with forming a brave band of adventurers and undertaking a perilous quest; hunting and destroying the Skinkadink. With the aid of an orphaned boy, a young fisherman, named Brillo, they set about forming their party and ultimately, embark on an epic quest to end the monster's reign of terror.

Book The Bucket and The Deep Blue Sea

Download or read book The Bucket and The Deep Blue Sea written by Bradler Smith and published by Bradler Smith. This book was released on with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a contemporary fantasy tale about three good friends and their desire to do something extraordinary. Sprig, the dormouse and her best friend, Whisker - or Whisk - the rat, team up with the self-important jackdaw, Scram, to embark on a perilous adventure: they will turn an old bucket into a sailing boat, navigate the river Whip and sail the sea ... in a bucket-boat! I got the idea to write this book due to my little boy, Brad. In lockdown I took him to have an operation to have his tonsils and adenoids removed; this resulted in him being given a mixture of fentanyl and morphine. The knock-on effect of this, was some peculiar strangeness - primarily an unprompted song about something to do with going to sea on a bucket ... He sang this song (for reasons unknown, even to him) over the next couple of days, repeatedly. It got to the point that I could only reasonably assume that the operation had turned him into a permanent oddball, stuck in an endless loop, forever parroting this ridiculous - but admittedly catchy, nonsensical song - for the rest of his days. Fortunately, he somehow shook off this curse and went somewhat back to normal. The song was stuck in my head though; this is what gave me the idea to write this little story, about some small creatures who go to sea on a bucket ... :) Thanks Brad (Aged 4), for your excellent front cover illustration! :)

Book Video Surveillance of Nesting Birds

Download or read book Video Surveillance of Nesting Birds written by Christine Ann Ribic and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2012-06-12 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Declining bird populations, especially those that breed in North American grasslands, have stimulated extensive research on factors that affect nest failure and reduced reproductive success. Until now, this research has been hampered by the difficulties inherent in observing nest activities. Video Surveillance of Nesting Birds highlights the use of miniature video cameras and recording equipment yielding new important and some unanticipated insights into breeding bird biology, including previously undocumented observations of hatching, incubation, fledging, diurnal and nocturnal activity patterns, predator identification, predator-prey interactions, and cause-specific rates of nest loss. This seminal contribution to bird reproductive biology uses tools capable of generating astonishing results with the potential for fresh insights into bird conservation, management, and theory.

Book The Ecology and Biogeography of Nothofagus Forests

Download or read book The Ecology and Biogeography of Nothofagus Forests written by Thomas T. Veblen and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 1996-01-01 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ecologists and biogeographers have been intrigued for a long time by the striking similarity of the vegetation and flora of southern temperate zone regions separated by large oceans. These scientists have been particularly interested in the occurrence in these regions of Nothofagus--southern beeches. This book, which focuses on the distribution, history, and ecology of the genus Nothofagus, provides a key to understanding the historical plant geography and modern vegetation patterns of the southern hemisphere. The book begins with a discussion of the long-term and broad-scale patterns of origin and differentiation in the genus. Next each major Nothofagus biome is discussed, first in a chapter that considers contemporary ecological patterns and then in a chapter that focuses on the history and paleoecology of the region. Authorities in the field deal with the temperate zone of the southwest Pacific region (New Zealand and Australia); the adjacent tropical zone of the southwest Pacific (New Guinea and New Caledonia); and South America, ranging from the Mediterranean-type climate region of central Chile to the subantarctic latitudes of Tierra del Fuego.
