Book Free the Land

Download or read book Free the Land written by Jian Pu and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-03-16 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Land reform has been the most challenging social issue for China, which is in transition from an agricultural society to an industrialized country. As the initiator of "common-ownership trust", the author introduces trust theory into China's land reform, trying to settle the issues of land right verification and land circulation. Firstly, this book reflects on land circulation and common ownership theoretically. Then it reviews China's rural land system transition in history as well as its current circumstances and problems. Based on theoretical thinking and practice, this book proposes land trust and expounds on its nature and content. Lastly, it interprets the "cloud trust + land trust" model which combines science, technology, knowledge and capital with land to realize the intensive and overall development of land. This book attempts to solve China's land problems with financial tools, which provide significant implications for not only land reform but also trust theory study.

Book More Studies on the C rv ka Lok yata

Download or read book More Studies on the C rv ka Lok yata written by Ramkrishna Bhattacharya and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2020-02-11 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a sequel to the author’s Studies on the Cārvāka/Lokāyata. Materialism appeared with different names at least from the sixth and fifth centuries BCE, the time of the Buddha. Some evidence of materialist thought is also found in the Upaniṣads. The epic, Rāmāyaṇa, features Jābāli, a proto-materialist character who denies the existence of the Other World, heaven and hell. Full-fledged materialist doctrines are also available in the works of the various opponents of materialism. The book deals with both the Pre-Cārvākas and the Cārvākas. For some unknown reason, all texts, including commentaries, of the Cārvāka/Lokāyata were lost after the twelfth century CE. However, on the basis of available fragments, the fundamental tenets of this system can still be reconstructed. This text contains the results of the most recent research in materialism in India.

Book Capitalism and Classical Social Theory

Download or read book Capitalism and Classical Social Theory written by John Bratton and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2024-06-03 with total page 567 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Capitalism and Classical Social Theory offers a rigorous introduction to classical social theory, highlighting the enduring relevance of classical works for understanding the many crises of the contemporary world. This popular theory book introduces students to a selection of classical social thinkers and demonstrates the relevance of the classical canon in contemporary society – a society marked by social inequality, insecurity, transformative AI, and the climate emergency. The fourth edition features updated examples, data, and images throughout, as well as new material on early American sociology and new literature on classical social theorists from the past five years. It reintroduces a chapter on Georg Simmel and urbanism, and it includes a new chapter exploring the intersection of the COVID-19 pandemic and class, race, and gender. While attentive to historical context, Capitalism and Classical Social Theory argues that classical theorists speak directly to the present challenges of inequality, social change, and the climate crisis in the twenty-first century.
