Book Abortion V God S Amazing Grace

Download or read book Abortion V God S Amazing Grace written by Ada Love and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2013-06-27 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Each one of us has made choices in our lives that we regret. Some of these choices have minimal consequences, while other choices we have made can cause devastating outcomes. In her book, Abortion v. Gods Amazing Grace, the author shares just that sort of choice that can have lifelong effects. Her choice to have an abortion was made at a moment when all she could hear were lies. Then, after it was too late to undo what she had done, truth was heard, reality set in, and the pain and hopelessness became unbearable. Thankfully, God does not leave us without hope. Through the authors story, you will see how God, through His Son, Jesus Christ, takes our sin, pain, and destruction and brings forgiveness and hope to our lives. You will witness a God who takes our brokenness and over and over again demonstrates His powerful love, forgiveness, grace, and healing. The author will share that God is always there. He is always love, and He waits to make each one of us whole. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. 1 Peter 2:24

Unfortunately, both sides are guilty of ignoring the individual in favor of the higher moral ground. No more. This book is designed to help people heal from their abortions on an individual level, and to finally be able to put guilt, shame, fear, doubt and other negative feelings behind them forever. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus' very presence on the scene as the New Testament age was unfolding (1st century A.D.), engendered opposition, created conflict, while ushering in grace. His ideas by the accounts of many were radical for his time, first century, and even today in the twenty-first century. Why is this so? The NIV Archaeological Study Bible (2005), NIV Student Bible (2002), and on careful examination of corroborating Extra-Biblical evidence provide a context for the Word view about Jesus. Both Bibles also support aspects of the social and physical sciences (worldview) in terms of cultural, socioeconomic, political, historical, archaeological, and philosophical (apologetics) evidence. As the pages of The World and the Word unfold, there is a kind of internal consistency with both the worldview (social sciences) and word view (the Bible). However, where such consistency appeared to diverge, this author attempts to filter out the noise by applying critical thinking criteria to a worldview that may not be consistent with the word view. The goal of this book therefore is to provide some exposition (Greek for apologia) of the Word and see how the World fits. Born-again Christians can be credible social scientists and not compromise Gods Word, the Bible. Two reviewers of a draft of this book should be mentioned here: Mrs. Gradye Mattera and Mrs. Line (pronounced Lynn) Green. Their input was important, honest and helpful in this book effort. However, in the end they bear no obligation for the final printed version. To this I accept full responsibility. After thoughtful reading of the book please send reflective comments to Dr. Herb Green at [email protected]. Use the phrase "World & Word 1st ed." in the Subject line. Thank you.

  • ISBN : 0268080828
  • Pages : 281 pages

Download or read book The Pocket Size God written by Robert F. Griffin C.S.C. and published by University of Notre Dame Pess. This book was released on 2016-03-15 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fr. Robert Griffin, C.S.C. (1925–1999), was a beloved member of the Notre Dame community. With his cocker spaniel, Darby O’Gill, he was instantly recognizable on campus. He was well known for his priestly work counseling students as university chaplain for thirty years, his summer ministry to the homeless and parishioners in New York City, and his weekly columns in the student newspaper, The Observer, in which he invited the campus community to reflect with him on the challenges and joys of being Catholic in a time of enormous social and religious change. This collection draws together essays that Griffin wrote for Notre Dame Magazine between 1972 and 1994. In them, he considers many of the challenges that beset church and campus, such as the laicization of priests, premarital sex, the erosion of institutional authority, intolerance toward gay people, and failure of fidelity to the teachings of the church. Griffin also ruminates on the distress that human beings experience in the ordinariness of their lives—the difficulty of communication in families, grief over the loss of family and friends, the agonies of isolation, and the need for forgiveness. Griffin’s shrewd insights still ring true for people today. His efforts to temper the winds of institutional rules, cultural change, and personal suffering reveal a mind keenly attuned to the need for understanding human limitations and to the presence of grace in times of change. Griffin quotes from the works of literary modernists, such as Fitzgerald and Hemingway, whose novels and short stories he loved; in these allusions and in his own reflections and experiences, Griffin bridges the spiritual and the secular and offers hope for reconciliation and comfort.

Book excerpt: What beliefs are core to the Christian faith? This book is here to help you understand the reason for your hope as a Christian so that you can see it with fresh sight and invite others into the conversation. A lot of Christians take their story—the narratives that give rise to their beliefs—for granted. They pray, go to church, perhaps even read their Bible. But they might be stuck if a stranger asked them to explain what they believe and why they believe it. Author, pastor, and theologian Mike Horton unpacks the essential and basic beliefs that all Christians share in a way that is easy to understand and applicable to our lives today. And in a way that will make you excited to be a Christian! Core Christianity covers topics like: Jesus as both fully God and fully man. The doctrine of the Trinity. The goodness of God despite a broken world. The ways God speaks. The meaning of salvation. What is the Christian calling? Includes discussion questions for individual or group use. This introduction to the basic doctrines of Christianity is perfect for those who are new to the faith, as well as those who have an interest in deepening their understanding of what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ.

Book The Paradigm of the Kingdom of God

Download or read book The Paradigm of the Kingdom of God written by Dan Westerfield and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-04-11 with total page 491 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Paradigm of the Kingdom of God This book traces redemptive history, from the Garden of Eden to the New Heaven and Earth, through the paradigm of the kingdom of God. Jesus Christ's saving work is the supreme event in all history, but it takes place within the context of the kingdom. When we follow God's plan of salvation through the kingdom's progress, the events unfold like an immense novel because we see God's divine providence revealed through both biblical and secular accounts. God initiates the kingdom paradigm when he tells Adam and Eve to be "fruitful and multiply . . . and rule" (Gen. 1:28). This is a mandate to establish God's righteous kingdom on the earth, and it is repeated to Noah and then Israel. But the story of the Old Testament is that Adam and Eve, Noah and his family, and Israel, all sin and rebel and cannot establish God's kingdom. The New Testament tells us about Jesus Christ, the Son of God, coming to earth to become one of us. He begins His ministry by proclaiming, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel" (Mark 1:15). Jesus begins to fulfill the kingdom mandate. He is fruitful and multiplies through spiritual children. And Jesus begins to rule: He teaches, casts out demons, calms storms, heals the sick, raises the dead, and feeds the hungry. He establishes a kingdom of His faithful followers. But Jesus must also die for their sins, and rise again, so that they can be declared righteous, fit for God's kingdom. After Jesus ascends to heaven and establishes the Church, the kingdom advances through the Church's ministry. Understanding redemptive history through the kingdom paradigm differs from the long standing interpretations of Dispensationalism and Covenantalism. These views are considered in this book, but the focus is on how the kingdom is central to God's design for history. Following its progress helps us see our location and roles in the fulfillment of God's divine plan. This can inform our faith and increase Church unity as we glorify God through His amazing plan of redemption.
