I’m living in a hotel, trying to recover from the news of my parents’ move to London, and working to make things right with Harry, Noah, and Mohammad. Mohammad says I’m back in the boys’ club. Harry tells me that he wants me back in his life. And Noah, well, he’s always been complicated. But after a too-generous gift from Harry and a heated moment with Noah on my birthday, things seem to change. Noah is flirting with me again and Harry shows me he’s serious about us being friends when he asks me to be his date to his parents’ party. Everything feels like it’s back to normal—until the party. Because Mohammad somehow ends up with two dates. Harry asks me to pretend to be his girlfriend for the night. And Noah tells me he likes me. A lot. In the midst of meeting Harry’s parents and helping Mohammad navigate a potential disaster with Naomi, Noah says that I need to show him how I feel. But what he’s really asking for is for me to make a choice. Him or Harry.

This book was released on 2019-03-26 with total page 594 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this comprehensive and latest statistical profile of the membership of the Communist Party during the first half-century of the Soviet regime, Professor Rigby analyzes the history of party recruitment and composition. Book The Austrian Party System

Download or read book The Austrian Party System written by Anton Pelinka and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-09-05 with total page 483 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1989. Political science in Austria is a relatively young discipline. It began to gradually establish itself in the 60's and only as recently as 1971 was it anchored in the curriculum of Austrian universities as a separate field of study. With the present book in English the editors hope to stimulate the interest of international social scientists in Austria, to overcome language barriers, and to make the topical problems and developments of Austrian democracy accessible to an international reading public. The book is intended to reflect the current state of a discipline-political science. However, it is also to be a contribution to the further development of this discipline. It should stimulate further, intensive and critical occupation with the theme "parties and the party system in Austria."

Book Party Personnel Strategies

Download or read book Party Personnel Strategies written by Matthew Soberg Shugart and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2021 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Key party goals serve to advance a policy brand and maximize seats in the legislature. This book offers a theory of how political parties assign their elected members -- their personnel -- to specialized legislative committees to serve collective organizational goals, here known as party personnel strategies. Individual party members vary in their personal attributes, such as prior occupation, gender, and local experience. Parties seek to harness the attributes of their members by assigning them to committees where their expertise is relevant, and where they may enhance the party's policy brand. However, under some electoral systems, parties may need to trade-off the harnessing of expertise against the pursuit of seats, instead matching legislators according to electoral situation (e.g. marginality of seat) or characteristics of their constituency (e.g. population density). This book offers an analysis of the extent to which parties trade these goals by matching the attributes of their personnel and their electoral needs to the functions of the available committee seats. The analysis is based on a dataset of around six thousand legislators across thirty-eight elections in six established parliamentary democracies with diverse electoral systems.
