Book A Constru o da Oralidade Escrita em Alguns G neros Escritos do Discurso Escolar

Download or read book A Constru o da Oralidade Escrita em Alguns G neros Escritos do Discurso Escolar written by Ana Paula Santiago and published by Editora Appris. This book was released on 2022-05-13 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Fry engages with the major themes and strands in twentieth-century literary theory, among them the hermeneutic circle, New Criticism, structuralism, linguistics and literature, Freud and fiction, Jacques Lacan's theories, the postmodern psyche, the political unconscious, New Historicism, the classical feminist tradition, African American criticism, queer theory, and gender performativity. By incorporating philosophical and social perspectives to connect these many trends, the author offers readers a coherent overall context for a deeper and richer reading of literature.

Brandist (Bakhtin Centre, Sheffield U., UK) examines the sources of their thinking, arguing that they were significantly less innovative in thought than many might suppose. He characterizes the Circle's contribution as an ongoing engagement with several intellectual traditions, attempting to put that engagement into the context of the social and political circumstances surrounding them. Book Psychological Knowledge and Practices in Brazilian Colonial Culture

Download or read book Psychological Knowledge and Practices in Brazilian Colonial Culture written by Marina Massimi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-12-22 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the complexities of the colonization of the territory that is now Brazil and its shaping of psychological knowledge and practice. It reveals the rich network of cultural practices that were formed through the appropriation of elements of Jesuit Catholicism and the blending with elements of the cultures of native, African and Lusitanian populations present in the territory, and how psychological concepts and practices emerged and circulated between the sixteenth and the late eighteenth centuries, long before the establishment of psychology as a modern science. The volume summarizes the research program developed by the author over 38 years of academic activity through which she contributed to expand the field of historical studies in psychology by investigating how psychological concepts and practices were produced in cultural and historical contexts different from the European and North American societies where scientific psychology developed in the 19th and 20th centuries. Psychological Knowledge and Practices in Brazilian Colonial Culture will be of interest not only to historians of psychology, but also to professional psychologists working with culturally diverse populations who seek to understand how psychological concepts and phenomena are shaped by culture. By doing so, the book intends to contribute to the development of a psychology better prepared to deal with cultural diversity in an increasingly multicultural world. “Massimi’s book will now form an important foundation of English-language scholarship about the psychological and cultural impact of colonization on subjugated peoples. She has, of course, made many such contributions in Portuguese. It is to be hoped that much of her work will be translated into English so that more scholars may benefit from the richness of her insights.” – Excerpt from the Foreword by Dr. Wade E. Pickren.

Book New Approach to Legal Translation

Download or read book New Approach to Legal Translation written by Susan Sarcevic and published by Kluwer Law International B.V.. This book was released on 1997-05-07 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the first attempts to present a comprehensive study of legal translation, this book is an interdisciplinary study in law and translation theory. It is not bound to any specific languages or legal systems, although emphasis is placed on translation between common law and civil law jurisdictions. The main focus is on the translation of texts which are authoritative sources of the law; examples are cited primarily from statutes, codes and constitutions (Canada, Switzerland and Belgium), as well as instruments of the European Union and international treaties and conventions. Dealing with theoretical as well as practical aspects of the subject matter, the author analyses legal translation as an act of communication in the mechanism of the law, thus making it necessary to redefine the goal of legal translation. This book is intended for both lawyers and linguists, translation theorists, legal translators and drafters, legal lexicographers, as well as teachers and students of translation.
