Book excerpt: A Certain Ms. Ball is a historical romance adventure for all those eggheads, children, and grownups who want to know how high-tech and the space age were started, who the nerds really were who advanced the arts and the sciences we take for granted today. The interfaces for DVDs, the Internet, lasers, and fiber optics to collect light from a laser source and focus it to a point for readout or for coupling to another fiber optic for communications are tiny glass spheres, some as small as 1/100 of an inch in diameter. Our two-millimeter heroine, Crystal, is born in A.D. 523 on the Arabian shore during a lightning storm. A shepherd boy finds her and keeps her until he dies as sultan. Shahrazad is his destiny, but he will have to wait. Crystal has many adventures with well-known historical figures. Our hero is reborn in 1636 and starts his search for Crystal, from her legend. As Captain Nemo he finds Crystal and his destiny. Their son remains to seek his destiny.

Book excerpt: Time-to-contact is the visual information that observers use in fundamental tasks such as landing an airplane or hitting a ball. Time-to-contact has been a hot topic in perception and action for many years and although many articles have been published on this topic, a comprehensive overview or assessment of the theory does not yet exist. This book fills an important gap and will have appeal to the perception and action community. The book is divided into four sections. Section one covers the foundation of time-to-contact, Section two covers different behavioral approaches to time-to-contact estimation, Section three focuses on time-to-contact as perception and strategy, and Section four covers time-to-contact and action regulation.

From the million copy and Sunday Times bestselling author Charlotte Bingham, for fans of Louise Douglas and Dinah Jeffries. I'm not a romantic... but this did leave a little warm glow in my heart by the end.' - ***** Reader Review 'A very enjoyable read, I loved the ending' - ***** Reader Review 'I laughed and cried at this tale, could visualise the characters, scenery and the story' - ***** Reader Review 'Great book, grabs you on the first page' - ***** Reader Review ***************************************************************************************************** THREE GREAT FRIENDS. THREE VERY DIFFERENT OUTCOMES... Following the death of her mother, Leonie Lynch is brought up in London's Eastgate Street by foster parents, her living expenses provided for by her young mother's friend, Lady Angela Bentick. When she turns eighteen, her godmother, the redoubtable Mrs Dodd, turns to Lady Angela to ask that she takes her on as a nurse at her nursing home and it is upon starting work that Leonie meets our two other heroines - Mercy Cordel and Dorinda Montgomery. Mercy grew up at the family home, Cordel Court in Somerset, and shortly after her seventeenth birthday, was brought up to London by her stepmother for the London Season. Dorinda Montgomery, on the other hand, has hardly ridden up and down Rotten Row more than a half a dozen times before she has captured the heart of every masher around town. Within days she is a famous member of the demi-monde, with her own house and carriage in St John's Wood. Meanwhile, Mercy Cordel is hard put to find a dancing partner. That she eventually finds a husband in the hard-bitten, hard-riding John Brancaster is a source of happy amazement to her. Society seems to reward Dorinda Montgomery more than it does the virtuous girl pushed into marriage with a suitably older husband. Certainly this is how it seems to Leonie Lynch, the only one of the three who has quite made up her mind to dedicate herself to something other than marriage...

The U.S. Congress passed Senate Joint Resolution 137 authorizing the Presidential appointed Commission to report on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, mandating the attendance and testimony of witnesses and the production of evidence. After eleven months of the investigation the Commission presented its findings in 888-page final report. The key findings presented in this report were that President Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald, that Oswald acted entirely alone and that Jack Ruby also acted alone when he killed Oswald two days later. The Commission's findings have proven controversial and have been both challenged and supported by later studies.
