Book Summer of Yesterday

Download or read book Summer of Yesterday written by Gaby Triana and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2014-06-17 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Back to the Future meets Fast Times at Ridgemont High when Haley’s summer vacation takes a turn for the retro in this totally rad romantic fantasy. Summer officially sucks. Thanks to a stupid seizure she had a few months earlier, Haley’s stuck going on vacation with her dad and his new family to Disney’s Fort Wilderness instead of enjoying the last session of summer camp back home with her friends. Fort Wilderness holds lots of childhood memories for her father, but surely nothing for Haley. But then a new seizure triggers something she’s never before experienced—time travel—and she ends up in River Country, the campground’s long-abandoned water park, during its heyday. The year? 1982. And there—with its amusing fashion, “oldies” music, and primitive technology—she runs into familiar faces: teenage Dad and Mom before they’d even met. Somehow, Haley must find her way back to the twenty-first century before her present-day parents anguish over her disappearance, a difficult feat now that she’s met Jason, one of the park’s summer residents and employees, who takes the strangely dressed stowaway under his wing. Seizures aside, Haley’s used to controlling her life, and she has no idea how to deal with this dilemma. How can she be falling for a boy whose future she can’t share?

Book Words of a Father

Download or read book Words of a Father written by Edward Sulek and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2008-10 with total page 539 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My personal expression of thoughts that lie within the pages of this your book are UNREVISED and therefore remain unchanged and offer you the reality of this father's impressions of life's excitement. The heroes within the one-paged presentations of philosophy, love and intimate romance, war, poetry, shorties, and my lessons learned experiences are about you and me within life's spectrum of activities. Striving for and finding HAPPINESS is a theme throughout the book with an excitement of action, which has a similarity to a WILL ROGERS or MARK TWAIN adventure. I have been compelled to write inspirational and thought-inducing stories with moral fiber resulting from my awesome OUT-OF-BODY EXPERIENCE, occurring during the VIETNAM WAR following a bullet wound through my chest. Why I, an infantry grunt, reentered my lifeless body with a newness of LIFE AND ENERGY, I questioned. WHY! One significant reason for my rebirth is to share my views of WAR'S intensity, devastation, and our alternatives to war with you. Also, I need to share with the world now and throughout the ARCHIVES OF TIME why LIFE IS SO PRECIOUS. Book Yesterday S Reflections

Download or read book Yesterday S Reflections written by Albert F. Schmid and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2013-02-22 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Yesterdays Reflections, author Albert F. Schmid invites us to consider the various holidays that are celebrated throughout the year. He provides interesting facts about each holiday and includes the religious origins of them where relevant because many of our holidays have a religious connection. He also explains important points about the holidays, such as why Easter is always on a Sunday and why Thanksgiving is always on the fourth Thursday in November. In addition, he includes devotionals on topics ranging from Contentment to God Is Where Love Is. Each devotional includes the pertinent Scriptures, a story to illustrate the point being made, and Schmids comments. For example, The Rear View Mirror tells the story of Grace, who remembers her fathers advice for driving in the snow: find a snow plow and follow it. When she encounters a blizzard, she does this; an hour later, the driver stops to make certain she is all right, as he had plowed a large parking lot, was moving on to the next business, and was concerned when he noticed that she was following him. We often become comfortable thinking that we can just follow the snow plow when in truth we need to learn to trust God and let Him lead the way. Yesterdays Reflections is an inspiring collection that reminds us that we are Christs ambassadors and that God expects each of us to live and act as though He is making His appeal through us. The best sermons are not preached; they are lived.

Book Chekhov Letters Diary Reminiscences and Biography

Download or read book Chekhov Letters Diary Reminiscences and Biography written by Anton Chekhov and published by DigiCat. This book was released on 2022-05-17 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "DEAR BROTHER MISHA, I got your letter when I was fearfully bored and was sitting at the gate yawning, and so you can judge how welcome that immense letter was. Your writing is good, and in the whole letter I have not found one mistake in spelling. But one thing I don't like: why do you style yourself "your worthless and insignificant brother"? You recognize your insignificance? ... Recognize it before God; perhaps, too, in the presence of beauty, intelligence, nature, but not before men. Among men you must be conscious of your dignity. Why, you are not a rascal, you are an honest man, aren't you? Well, respect yourself as an honest man and know that an honest man is not something worthless. Don't confound "being humble" with "recognizing one's worthlessness." ..." (Letters of Anton Chekhov To His Family and Friends)_x000D_ Anton Chekhov (1860 -1904) was a Russian physician, dramaturge and author who is considered to be among the greatest writers of short stories in history. Chekhov practised as a medical doctor throughout most of his literary career. Along with Henrik Ibsen and August Strindberg, Chekhov is often referred to as one of the three seminal figures in the birth of early modernism in the theatre. He made no apologies for the difficulties this posed to readers, insisting that the role of an artist was to ask questions, not to answer them._x000D_ This edition includes: Biography by Constance Garnett_x000D_ Autobiographical Writings: _x000D_ Letters of Anton Chekhov to his Family and Friends_x000D_ Notebook of Anton Chekhov_x000D_ Reminiscences of Anton Chekhov: _x000D_ Fragments of Recollections by Maxim Gorky_x000D_ A.
