Book Dark Sky Dreamings an Inland Skywriters Anthology

Download or read book Dark Sky Dreamings an Inland Skywriters Anthology written by Merrill Findlay and published by Interactive Publications. This book was released on 2019-05-15 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When you look up at a midnight sky, what do you see—mottled stars and a full Moon trying hard to compete with the street lamps for your attention? You might be situated in a city, or its sprawling suburbs, where the ever-present urban glow tends to keep your gaze horizontal, missing out on the beckoning mysteries of the Universe. This Skywriters anthology will change all that. Through the eyes and creativity of people who write about south-eastern inland Australia, we’ll redirect your vision upwards to a brighter Moon, the subtle presence of nearby planets, the cosmic spectacular of our Milky Way galaxy and those celestial bodies even further away. You’ll find inspiring stories, poems and essays by a great diversity of Australians responding to what some have called the ‘Inland Astro-Trail’, which connects rural and remote communities with world-class astronomical observatories such as those at Parkes, Siding Springs and Narrabri. Some skystories are “literary”, others intensely personal, but all are guaranteed to widen your horizons—upwards!

Instead of returning to Earth John finds himself off-course being propelled at the speed of light before he lapses into unconsciousness. His first image of awareness is that he is inside a cocoon of pinkish light. Here he meets Ela who tells him that he is on the 'original' Earth and that she is his 'constructor'. He is about to glimpse the possible future fate of his world should humans continue to despoil the planet and mismanage resources. Ela introduces John to a Council who recruit him to return to his time to attempt to correct the ecological wrongs that threaten Earth's existence as a viable planet for life forms. To do this he must confront the deadly underworld moguls whose agenda is building wealth and world domination at any price. • Pages : 410 pages

Download or read book Loving Out of Time written by Dorothy Callahan and published by Somerwynd Services. This book was released on 2015-06-03 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A cowboy loving an Indian— an inconceivable thought to an 1898 Oklahoma man. But when a ranch hand falls through a time travel portal and lands in an Indian’s backyard, she battles her pride to help him while he battles his prejudice about being in an interracial relationship. Having a friend in the quantum physics field makes Anya Littlefeather slightly more receptive to Cody Bell’s claim that his horse tossed him from 1898 into her backyard of 2013. He certainly seems to be an honest-to-God— albeit prejudiced— handsome cowboy who is utterly surprised by the established neighborhood where he claims his family farm once stood. He’s a drifter, and Anya has too many abandonment issues with men to even consider dating someone who already breaks two of her four relationship requirements. This frees Anya to help Cody as one human does another, and not worry about the possibility of dating. Cody had been racing home with medicine to save his niece’s life when his horse tossed him into this magical place. This Indian squaw confuses him, for she doesn’t act the way his grandfather spoke of them during the Indian/Settler Wars, and she’s courteous and helpful and respects him as a man. Her offer to help get him home seems genuine, and he fears every day spent in this amazing land jeopardizes the life of his beloved niece. The last woman he loved died, and that scar makes him hesitant to love again, regardless of his attraction. As the time draws near for the next portal to open, Cody has to decide whether to go save the life of the last of his family, or stay here and start a new one. Anya has to either add one more abandonment issue to her list when he goes home, or ask Cody to let his niece perish and stay with her forever.
