According to this approach, objects are compounds of matter (hule) and form (morphe or eidos) and a living organism is not exhausted by the body, cells, organs, tissue and the like that compose it. Koslicki argues that a hylomorphic analysis of concrete particular objects is well equipped to compete with alternative approaches when measured against a wide range of criteria of success. However, a plausible application of the doctrine of hylomorphism to the special case of concrete particular objects hinges on how hylomorphists conceive of the matter composing a concrete particular object, its form, and the hylomorphic relations which hold between a matter-form compound, its matter and its form. Koslicki offers detailed answers these questions surrounding a hylomorphic approach to the metaphysics of concrete particular objects. As a result, matter-form compounds emerge as occupying the privileged ontological status traditionally associated with substances due to their high degree of unity.

The book clarifies the scope of the threat we face by examining: The variety of biological, chemical, and nuclear threats The factors involved in the creation of WMD The uncanny capacity of microbes to develop resistance to our medications The threat of bioengineering and the creation of superbugs How synergistic complexity could provide a possible solution A chapter is dedicated to focusing on the specific nature and challenges posed by each biological, chemical and nuclear agent. At the present time we do not have clear scientific answers to what are the universe, particle, mass, energy, gravity, infinity, space and many more components of the universe. They are left unanswered and opened for everybody to guess. We are given descriptive definitions based on study of particle motions so we have a glimpse of what the universe does but not even a rudimentary concept of what the universe is. This scientific insecurity gives various ideologists open field to preach their doctrines about what is the universe and what are humans in it. My background is in philosophy and physics and I spent most of my life in researching the universe content and properties. I found the real, logical answers, which as it happened do not comply with what physics at the present time calls The Standard Model of the Universe. Most of hypothetical work accomplished in this field became somehow an ideology of the modern science and a dogma of a sort. Society passionately protects its dogmas as it did in Galileo's time so my theory will provoke resistance among some contemporary physicists and ideologists because it is not based on quantum mechanics mathematics and principle of uncertainty. Subject of quantum mechanics is universe behaviour - motions - quantities. It only recognizes what the universe does and it cannot even express what universe is. For the real answers I turned to logic and by a painstaking logical process of simplification, comparison and elimination I came to conclusions which are rather surprising, original and are supported by all true laws of physics and correctly interpreted experiments. I replaced quantum mechanics with natural logic in the new model of the universe. None of this has ever been published.

Leibniz's commentators usually begin with monads, mind-like simple substances, the ultimate building-blocks of the Monadology. But Leibniz's apparently idealist metaphysics is very puzzling: how can any sensible person think that the world is made up of tiny minds? In this book, Garber tries to make Leibniz's thought intelligible by focusing instead on his notion of body. Beginning with Leibniz's earliest writings, he shows how Leibniz starts as a Hobbesian with a robust sense of the physical world, and how, step by step, he advances to the monadological metaphysics of his later years. Much of the book's focus is on Leibniz's middle years, where the fundamental constituents of the world are corporeal substances, unities of matter and form understood on the model of animals. For Garber monads only enter fairly late in Leibniz's career, and when they enter, he argues, they do not displace bodies but complement them. In the end, though, Garber argues that Leibniz never works out the relation between the world of monads and the world of bodies to his own satisfaction: at the time of his death, his philosophy is still a work in progress.
