Book excerpt: Microcomputer Busses provides the necessary introduction to the basic features and capabilities of a range of popular commercial busses. Its main objective is to prepare students in solving engineering problems using the concepts and materials featured in the book. The first three chapters introduce the basic concepts and principles such as basic bus and transmission-line concepts, comparative analysis of busses, and the process of how a program can give out hardware responses or operations on a bus. The middle section of the book delves more deeply into the different types of computer busses and into the important features of the operation of each bus. The book supplements and simplifies these features. Lastly, the book concludes by illustrating design examples of existing sample boards that are produced commercially. This book serves as a valuable tool to engineering students. Systems engineers and design engineers can also use this book as reference in designing microcomputer-based systems or in developing system architecture.

Book Advances in Cryogenic Engineering

Download or read book Advances in Cryogenic Engineering written by Quan-Sheng Shu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2000-10-31 with total page 984 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, the technology of cryogenic comminution has been widely applied in the field of chemical engineering, food making, medicine production, and particularly in recycling of waste materials. Because of the increasing pollution of waste tires and the shortage of raw rubber resource, the recycling process for waste rubber products has become important and commercially viable. This technology has shown a great number of advantages such as causing no environmental pollution, requiring low energy consumption and producing high quality products. Hence, the normal crusher which was used to reclaim materials, such as waste tires, nylon, plastic and many polymer materials at atmospheric 12 temperature is being replaced by a cryogenic crusher. • In the cryogenic crusher, the property of the milled material is usually very sensitive to temperature change. When a crusher is in operation, it will generate a great deal of heat that causes the material temperature increased. Once the temperature increases over the vitrification temperature, the material property will change and lose the brittle behavior causing the energy consumption to rise sharply. Consequently, the comminution process cannot be continued. Therefore, it is believed that the cryogenic crusher is the most critical component in the cryogenic comminution system. The research on the temperature increase and energy consumption in the cryogenic crusher is not only to reduce the energy consumption of the crasher, but also to reduce the energy consumption of the cryogenic system.

Book Real Time Microcomputer Control of Industrial Processes

Download or read book Real Time Microcomputer Control of Industrial Processes written by S.G. Tzafestas and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 521 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The introduction of the microprocessor in computer and system engineering has motivated the development of many new concepts and has simplified the design of many modern industrial systems. During the first decade of their life. microprocessors have shown a tremendous evolution in all possible directions (technology. power. functionality. I/O handling. etc). Of course putting the microprocessors and their environmental devices into properly operating systems is a complex and difficult task requiring high skills for melding and integrating hardware. and systemic components. software This book was motivated by the editors' feeling that a cohesive reference is needed providing a good coverage of modern industrial applications of microprocessor-based real time control, together with latest advanced methodological issues. Unavoidably a single volume cannot be exhaustive. but the present book contains a sufficient number of important real-time applications. The book is divided in two sections. Section I deals with general hardware. software and systemic topics. and involves six chapters. Chapter 1. by Gupta and Toong. presents an overview of the development of microprocessors during their first twelve years of existence. Chapter 2. by Dasgupta. deals with a number of system software concepts for real time microprocessor-based systems (task scheduling. memory management. input-output aspects. programming language reqUirements.

Book SBus

    Book Details:
  • Author : James D. Lyle
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2012-12-06
  • ISBN : 1461229421
  • Pages : 354 pages

Download or read book SBus written by James D. Lyle and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Workstation and computer users have an ever increasing need for solutions that offer high performance, low cost, small footprints (space requirements), and ease of use. Also, the availability of a wide range of software and hardware options (from a variety of independent vendors) is important because it simplifies the task of expanding existing applications and stretching into new ones. The SBus has been designed and optimized within this framework, and it represents a next-generation approach to a system's I/O intercon nect needs. This book is a collection of information intended to ease the task of developing and integrating new SBus-based products. The focus is primarily on hardware, due to the author's particular expertise, but firmware and software concepts are also included where appropriate. This book is based on revision B.O of the SBus Specification. This revision has been a driving force in the SBus market longer than any other, and is likely to remain a strong influence for some time to come. As of this writing there is currently an effort (desig nated P1496) within the IEEE to produce a new version of the SBus specification that conforms to that group's policies and requirements. This might result in some changes to the specifica tion, but in most cases these will be minor. Most of the information this book contains will remain timely and applicable. To help ensure this, the author has included key information about pro posed or planned changes.
