Book Energy Transfer in Singlet Oxygen and Bromine Monofluoride

Download or read book Energy Transfer in Singlet Oxygen and Bromine Monofluoride written by and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 89 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The interhalogen molecule, bromine monofluoride (BrF), is currently under study as a potential candidate for a visible chemical laser medium. Previous studies have shown a strong emission from BrF(B3II(O+)) in the presence of singlet oxygen. While singlet oxygen will pump BrF(X) to BrF(B), the exact mechanism is not known. Chemiluminescence observed from BrF(B) excited by oxygen in a gas flowtube was used to study the energy transfer mechanism. The objective of this research was fourfold. First, the pumping process was identified as a 3- Body Mechanism. Second, the observed vibrational distribution clearly showed the population of the BrF(B) state to be non-Maxwellian.

Book Vibrational and Rotational Energy Transfer in Highly Vibrationally Excited Hydrogen Fluoride and Deuterium Fluoride

Download or read book Vibrational and Rotational Energy Transfer in Highly Vibrationally Excited Hydrogen Fluoride and Deuterium Fluoride written by F. Fleming Crim and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Combining the techniques of direct excitation of overtone vibrations and time resolved spectroscopic detection permits detailed measurements of the vibrational and rotational relaxation of highly vibrationally excited molecules. Using this technique, we have measured vibrational and rotational relaxation in HF(v = 3,4,5) between 300 K and 650 K and have compared these results to various theoretical calculations. Using laser double resonance to probe individual rotational states, we find phenomenological rotational relaxation rate constants which decrease montonically with rotational energy change in the vibrationally excited molecule, and we have directly measured the vibrational relaxation rate constants for v = 1 and v = 2 as well as made a preliminary estimate of the (surprisingly small) fraction of the relaxation which goes by vibration-to-vibration energy transfer.

Book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences

Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by Wade H. Shafer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) * at Purdue University in 1 957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all con cerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an interna tional publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Cor poration of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 36 (thesis year 1991) a total of 11,024 thesis titles from 23 Canadian and 161 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for these titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. While Volume 36 reports theses submitted in 1991, on occasion, certain univer sities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.

Book Rotational Energy Transfer in Highly Vibrationally Excited Hydrogen Fluoride and Deuterium Fluoride

Download or read book Rotational Energy Transfer in Highly Vibrationally Excited Hydrogen Fluoride and Deuterium Fluoride written by F. Fleming Crim and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Overtone vibration-laser double resonance measurements have provided new data on vibrational and rotational relaxation in HF(v = 2). These experiments determine the magnitudes of the total vibrational relaxation rate constants for HF(v = 1 and 2) as well as their temperature dependences. Rotational relaxation data come from these measurements as well. The temporal evolution of individual rotational states observed in the double resonance studies provides level-to-level energy transfer rate constants when analyzed using an iterative fitting scheme which incorporates scaling relations among the rate constants.

Download or read book Gaseous Electronics written by Gorur Govinda Raju and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-09-03 with total page 826 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the constant emergence of new research and application possibilities, gaseous electronics is more important than ever in disciplines including engineering (electrical, power, mechanical, electronics, and environmental), physics, and electronics. The first resource of its kind, Gaseous Electronics: Tables, Atoms, and Molecules fulfills the author’s vision of a stand-alone reference to condense 100 years of research on electron-neutral collision data into one easily searchable volume. It presents most—if not all—of the properly classified experimental results that scientists, researchers, and students require for a theoretical and practical understanding of collision properties and their impact. An unprecedented collection and analysis of electron neutral collision properties This book follows a new user-friendly format that enables readers to easily retrieve, analyze, and apply specific atomic/molecular information as needed. In his previous work, Gaseous Electronics: Theory and Practice, the author first explored electron–neutron interactions. To clarify the complex fundamental processes involved, he cited as much experimental data on atoms and molecules as limited space would allow. Completing that task, this handy reference more fully compiles essential revised data on more than 420 atoms and molecules, arranging it into easily digestible chapters, sections, and appendices. Analysis parameters include total scattering, ionization, excitation, attachment cross sections, ionization and attachment coefficients, attachment rates, and ion drift velocity. Some recent research areas in gaseous electronics include: Environmentally efficient and protective lighting devices Plasma research for power generation and space applications Medical applications (some involving skin treatment and healing) Written entirely in SI units, the book includes hundreds of tables, figures, and specially drawn charts, with data expressed in both tabular and graphical form. Each chapter stands independently and contains references for further research.

Book Mechanisms of Energy Transfer in Deuterium Fluoride Systems

Download or read book Mechanisms of Energy Transfer in Deuterium Fluoride Systems written by Roger L. Wilkins and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A three-dimensional trajectory study has been employed to determine temperature-dependent rate coefficients for the important energy-transfer and deactivation processes that occur in DF(v1) + DF(v2) collisions. From this study, it was predicted that the v to v energy-transfer processes occur by means of delta v = + or - 1 transitions and that the rate coefficients for the v to v processes DF(v1 = 1) + DF(v2) to DF(v1' = 0) + DF(v2' = v2 + 1) with v2 = 1 through 5, respectively, decrease with increasing vibrational quantum number v.
