Book Chromium Picolinate

Download or read book Chromium Picolinate written by Gary Evans and published by Avery. This book was released on 1996 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Are you a dieter who can't lose the fat? A diabetic who would like to cut down on your medication? An athlete who wants to build muscle? Or just someone who would like to live a longer, healthier life? The secret lies in helping the hormone insulin, one of the body's master hormones, do a better job of regulating sugar and fat within your body. Cutting-edge research has discovered a nutrient that can help you do that. It is called chromium picolinate." "The mineral chromium helps insulin do its work more effectively and efficiently. But what little chromium exists in our diets is poorly absorbed by the body. Chromium needs the amino acid picolinate to help it get first into the bloodstream, and then into your body's 70 billion cells. Chromium Picolinate: Everything You Need to Know explains the important connection between chromium and picolinate, and how they combine to form a supplement that can enhance your health. It looks at the numerous studies performed around the world, on both animals and humans, that show chromium picolinate to be completely safe and wonderfully effective. Then, after detailing how chromium and insulin work together, the book reveals how chromium picolinate can be used to help you lose fat, control diabetes, build muscles, and slow the march of time. Author Dr. Gary Evans also explains how he and others discovered the connections between chromium and picolinate, and why it has taken the scientific community so long to accept chromium as an important nutrient." "Chromium Picolinate offers an approach to health that involves no undesirable side effects - just simple, safe, and natural nutrients that can help you look and feel better than you have in years."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. Book The Nutritional Biochemistry of Chromium III

Download or read book The Nutritional Biochemistry of Chromium III written by John Vincent and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-10-13 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chromium nutritional supplements are the second best selling mineral supplements after calcium as chromium is found in pills, sports drinks, chewing gums, smoothies, and numerous other products. Chromium has been promoted to promote weight loss and muscle development and most recently to be available to treat the symptoms of type 2 diabetes and related conditions. The aim of The Nutritional Biochemistry of Chromium(III) is to examine the four most controversial areas of chromium nutrition and biochemistry: - is chromium an essential element for humans and are chromium nutritional supplements of value? - what biochemical role, if any, does chromium play in the body - can large doses of chromium(III) be used to treat symptoms of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and related medical conditions - is the use of chromium(III) supplements a health concern. Scientific experts, who are recognized leaders in the field, weigh in with their opinions on both sides of these issues in this book.A background review of the field from 1955-1995 by Vincent opens the book and concludes with a summary by Dr. Forrest Nielsen, Center Director of the USDA's Grand Forks Human Nutrition Research Center concludes the book. * Point-counterpoint format, providing both sides of major issues* Complete coverage of current issues, including nutrition, health, biochemical role and toxicology* Authors are recognised experts and leaders in this field

Book Biological and Environmental Aspects of Chromium

Download or read book Biological and Environmental Aspects of Chromium written by S. Langård and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Biological and Environmental Aspects of Chromium focuses on the biological and environmental aspects of chromium and its compounds, with emphasis on the most important aspects of their toxicology and physiology. Topics covered range from the production and occupational exposure of chromium compounds to the presence of chromium in air, soil, and natural waters. The applications of chromium in cell biology and medicine are also discussed. Comprised of 11 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the toxic and carcinogenic effects of chromium and chromium compounds, followed by a discussion on the production and occupational exposure of chromium compounds. The reader is then introduced to the more common analytical methods used in the determination of chromium in environmental and biological samples. Subsequent chapters explore the nutritional role of chromium; absorption, transport, and excretion of chromium in humans and animals; mutagenic and cytogenetic effects of chromium compounds; and organ toxicity of chromium in animals. The carcinogenic effects of chromium, including its effects on the skin, are also considered. This monograph will be of interest to students, practitioners, and researchers in the fields of biology, physiology, and chemistry, as well as those with an objective interest in the ways in which chromium and its compounds act in biological materials and in the human environment.

Book Chromium

    Book Details:
  • Author : National Research Council (U.S.). Committee on Biologic Effects of Atmospheric Pollutants
  • Publisher : National Academies
  • Release : 1974
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 172 pages

Download or read book Chromium written by National Research Council (U.S.). Committee on Biologic Effects of Atmospheric Pollutants and published by National Academies. This book was released on 1974 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As civilization has progressed, man has used ever greater quantities of chemicals, has learned to prepare new compounds not found in nature, and has devised many different chemical processes. These developments have led to great concern over the public-health consequences of accidental release or waste disposal of these possibly harmful chemicals into the environment. The problem has been intensified by the development of more sensitive methods of detection and analysis. Because some chromium compounds have been found to produce harmful effects in man through industrial exposures, it has become important to determine the concentrations, forms, and health effects of chromium in the ambient air. This document is the result of a critical evaluation of the literature available to the Panel on Chromium up to July 1, 1972, on the biologic and health effects of chromium. As will become apparent in the following pages, the literature does not provide conclusive answers to many of the important questions on the biologic effects of chromium. The final chapter lists categories of future research that the Panel feels warrant high priority.

Book The Role of Chromium in Animal Nutrition

Download or read book The Role of Chromium in Animal Nutrition written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1997-11-17 with total page 93 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The American feed industry manufactures tons of dietary supplements and additives each year for inclusion in the diets of food-producing animals. Some scientists have suggested that chromium should be a key ingredient in nutritional supplements. Controversy exists, however, over whether chromium sources should be approved as feed additives and whether enough data exist to establish dietary requirements. Chromium use has been suggested to have positive impacts on farm profitability, and many animal health benefits have been attributed to chromium supplementation, including increased longevity; enhanced reproduction; decreased incidence of metabolic disorders, stress effects, and disease; reduced need for antibiotic usage; improved immune response; and lean carcass quality. This book addresses recent research on chromium in animal diets; metabolic interactions between chromium and other nutrients; assessments of form and species interactions; supplementation effects; bioavailability of chromium forms and sources; and effects of diet composition, stressors, and animal physiological status on chromium utilization. It also provides recommendations on the essentiality of dietary chromium in domestic animal species and guidelines for use of dietary chromium.
