Book Root Zone Water Quality Model

Download or read book Root Zone Water Quality Model written by Lajpat Ahuja and published by Water Resources Publication. This book was released on 2000 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication comes with computer software and presents a comprehensive simulation model designed to predict the hydrologic response, including potential for surface and groundwater contamination, of alternative crop-management systems. It simulates crop development and the movement of water, nutrients and pesticides over and through the root zone for a representative unit area of an agricultural field over multiple years. The model allows simulation of a wide spectrum of management practices and scenarios with special features such as the rapid transport of surface-applied chemicals through macropores to deeper depths and the preferential transport of chemicals within the soil matrix via mobile-immobile zones. The transfer of surface-applied chemicals (pesticides in particular) to runoff water is also an important component.

Book Chemical Exposure Predictions

Download or read book Chemical Exposure Predictions written by Davide Calamari and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1992-12-15 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chemical Exposure Predictions discusses the challenges of analyzing biological and geological cycles of various chemical substances and evaluating their potential exposure "from the cradle to the grave." The book examines physico-chemical properties, the possibilities for predicting degradation, and partition coefficients and kinetics of distribution phenomena. It also covers how to validate predictions and presents examples of hazard assessment. Chemical Exposure Predictions will be an indispensable reference for environmental chemists, environmental toxicologists, ecotoxicologists, occupational health specialists, regulatory personnel, and environmental consultants.

Book Pesticide Interactions in Crop Production

Download or read book Pesticide Interactions in Crop Production written by J. Altman and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-01-18 with total page 591 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pesticide Interactions in Crop Production: Beneficial and Deleterious Effects evaluates the effects of pesticides on plants by exploring the physical, chemical, biological, and ecological interactions of pesticides that influence a crop. The effects of pesticides on the environment and on the crop pests themselves are considered as well. Specific topics addressed include iatrogenic responses, the fate of pesticides applied to cereals under field conditions, the persistance of pesticides on target crops, the effect of pesticides on soil symbionts, and the role of ecological agriculture on conventional and organic cropping systems. Pesticide Interactions in Crop Production: Beneficial and Deleterious Effects will be an important volume for agriculturalists, phytologists, mycologists, soil biologists, plant pathologists, tropical ecologists, arboriculturalists, and other researchers interested in the effects of pesticides on crops and soil.
