Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Typical Male Syndrome By: Scott Henderson Typical Male Syndrome (TMS) is a humorous, occasionally poignant book about the “disease” causing the many inexplicable actions of males and the unintended and funny consequences, particularly to their loved ones. Facetiously told from the perspective of a medical researcher on the subject, the book tries to answer such pressing mysteries as why little boys forget to wear underwear on the day of baseball sliding practice, why young males fail to get the right address to pick up their first date, and why dads, well, turn into dads. Examining the impacts of TMS from birth to old age, from prehistoric times to now, with special emphasis on interactions with females, who suffer (and laugh), most from the disease, the author offers up humor, embarrassing personal examples, and a touch of tender insight into the topic. Light-hearted and easy to read, Typical Male Syndrome offers a fun look at situations we all experience and enjoy, including Tazors for Christmas.

Book Alpha Male Syndrome

Download or read book Alpha Male Syndrome written by Kate Ludeman and published by Harvard Business Press. This book was released on 2006-10-10 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The business world swarms with alpha males—powerhouses who take charge, produce astonishing results, and bring enormous value to their organizations. But many alphas also leave a path of destruction in their wake. Competitive, belligerent, and impatient, these hard-charging leaders can run roughshod over colleagues and employees, to the detriment of their careers and the bottom line. In Alpha Male Syndrome, Kate Ludeman and Eddie Erlandson build on their Harvard Business Review article “Coaching the Alpha Male”—sounding a wake-up call to all alphas and the companies they work for. The authors show alphas how to leverage their unique strengths while confronting their destructive “flip side risks.” They describe the distinguishing dynamics of the alpha male syndrome and identify four breeds: commanders, executors, strategists, and visionaries. By understanding each type’s nuances, alphas can transform themselves into more effective leaders. And those who work with alphas can transform nightmare work groups into collaborative dream teams. Exercises, checklists, and tips enable readers to harness the enormous power of the alpha personality while minimizing the downsides of alpha behavior.

Book Race and Suicide in South Africa

Download or read book Race and Suicide in South Africa written by Fatima Meer and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-10-05 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1976 Race and Suicide in South Africa synthesises the two dimensions of suicide: the personal and the social phenomenon. Its approach is Durkheimian in the use of court records, and phenomenological in the examination of actual cases. About 1500 cases of suicide in Durban from 1940-70 are analysed in terms of race, sex, occupation, marital status, economic status, family type and size, residential area, time and method used. What emerges is a revealing picture of suicide in South African ethnic groups. The findings confute the idea of Durkheim and others that behaviour in suicide conforms to certain universal principles and suggest the crucial role of particular social conditions in determining suicide trends, while at the same time challenging the proposition that a high suicide rate is associated with high status. Instead the author found that there were common emotional syndromes among suicides, but there were contributed to by different social factors.

Book Men s Reproductive and Sexual Health Throughout the Lifespan

Download or read book Men s Reproductive and Sexual Health Throughout the Lifespan written by Douglas T. Carrell and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2023-11-16 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. To address this, there is a strong movement towards integrating male reproductive and sexual healthcare involving clinicians such as andrologists, urologists, endocrinologists and counselors. This book will emphasize this integrated approach to male reproductive and sexual health throughout the lifespan. Practical advice on how to perform both clinical and laboratory evaluations of infertile men is given, as well as a variety of methods for medically and surgically managing common issues. This text ties together the three major pillars of clinical andrology: clinical care, the andrology laboratory, and translational research.
