Book excerpt: The conversion of Cardinal Newman, an educated, renown Anglican, gave respectability to converting to Catholicism in England. Recusant Catholics had been treated as social outcasts and persecuted when the English monarchy outlawed the practice of the true faith. Hence the Catholic hierarchy rejoiced when Cardinal Newman broke the ice for many Anglicans to enter the Church and eloquently defended the Catholic faith. Yet, heroes are still human, and converts to the Church are practically unable to completely discard their non-Catholic mindset simply by their baptism. All this made the Catholic hierarchy both in Rome and in England both praise and fear this newly adopted son. How could his Protestant mindset be criticized and he still be used as a showpiece of Catholic respectability? Cardinal Newman's theory of the development of doctrine, along with his other ideas that were controversial during his time, are herein analyzed by renown theologians and an equally literary Catholic, Orestes Brownson. On the other hand Newman's famous biographer, Wilfred Ward, made the Cardinal an untouchable anti-liberal to traditionally minded Catholics, yet an avian guard liberal pioneer to liberal Catholics, including the very founders of the school of Modernism. Even if it can be argued that Newman act in good faith, what is not generally known is that he formed his own school of thought within the Church favoring a mutability of Catholic doctrine, seemingly adopted and acclaimed by the Second Vatican Council.

Book excerpt: We Have Been Invaded. The modern evangelical church is even now undergoing a transformation that is changing its heart and soul and foundation completely. The FutureChurch is the deliberately designed dream of those moving the world toward globalism, "One World - One Religion." Two or three decades ago, the obstacles to such a transformation were so many as to make the task almost impossible. But, said the tortoise to the hare, slow and steady wins the race. And while the church has run hare-like into trends, megachurch programs and media-driven movements, the New Age tortoise has come into the back door and planted within our walls the tares of deception and illusion that are transforming the church into a New Age Globalist apparatus and puppet from within. Be aware. Be prepared. The Trojan Church is here. Dr. Gregory Reid has been in youth ministry since 1975. He has served as a criminal justice trainer on occult crimes and crimes against children since 1987. He is a retired Private Investigator, an ordained minister with American Evangelistic Association, and is currently serving as a youth pastor. He is director of YouthFire Ministries, and holds an honorary doctorate from Logos Graduate School.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • From one of the world’s most influential spiritual thinkers, a long-awaited book exploring what it means that Jesus was called “Christ,” and how this forgotten truth can restore hope and meaning to our lives. “Anyone who strives to put their faith into action will find encouragement and inspiration in the pages of this book.”—Melinda Gates In his decades as a globally recognized teacher, Richard Rohr has helped millions realize what is at stake in matters of faith and spirituality. Yet Rohr has never written on the most perennially talked about topic in Christianity: Jesus. Most know who Jesus was, but who was Christ? Is the word simply Jesus’s last name? Too often, Rohr writes, our understandings have been limited by culture, religious debate, and the human tendency to put ourselves at the center. Drawing on scripture, history, and spiritual practice, Rohr articulates a transformative view of Jesus Christ as a portrait of God’s constant, unfolding work in the world. “God loves things by becoming them,” he writes, and Jesus’s life was meant to declare that humanity has never been separate from God—except by its own negative choice. When we recover this fundamental truth, faith becomes less about proving Jesus was God, and more about learning to recognize the Creator’s presence all around us, and in everyone we meet. Thought-provoking, practical, and full of deep hope and vision, The Universal Christ is a landmark book from one of our most beloved spiritual writers, and an invitation to contemplate how God liberates and loves all that is.

  • ISBN : 9781710018301
  • Pages : 208 pages

Download or read book Trojan Horse Religion written by Hezekiah Kantor and published by . This book was released on 2019-11-20 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Trojan Horse Religion is a book explaining in extreme detail how Progressive Liberalism is a surreptitious religion. This timely book analyzes & explains the ways that this current ideology thinks, acts, and looks like a religion from an historical, psychological, anthropological, and sociological standpoint. It should be eye-opening to see how this religion masquerades as a political ideology & operates against traditional believers on an unequal playing field because, unlike the adherents of mainstream religions, they are not "separated" from the State. Hezekiah Kantor has been writing political and social commentary since he was a student at an Ivy League University. Since then, he has been published by the National Association of Scholars, American Thinker, LifeSiteNews, RealClearPolicy, and American Greatness. He is a National Board Certified Teacher with over a decade of experience in the public schools, as well as a coach & a teacher of the year in one of the school districts where he previously worked; Mr. Kantor used this experience to discuss various ways that this pseudo-religion has touched his own professional life. There are few books which have argued this topic as deeply and extensively as this book does. Coming just before the next election, this book will help people understand the coming battles with a newer, more fully developed understanding of what drives the political Left.

Book The Trojan War Museum and Other Stories

Download or read book The Trojan War Museum and Other Stories written by Ayse Papatya Bucak and published by W. W. Norton & Company. This book was released on 2019-08-20 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A debut story collection of spectacular imaginative range and lyricism from a Pushcart Prize–winning author. In Ayse Papatya Bucak’s dreamlike narratives, dead girls recount the effects of an earthquake and a chess-playing automaton falls in love. A student stops eating and no one knows whether her act is personal or political. A Turkish wrestler, a hero in the East, is seen as a brute in the West. The anguish of an Armenian refugee is “performed” at an American fund-raiser. An Ottoman ambassador in Paris amasses a tantalizing collection of erotic art. And in the masterful title story, the Greek god Apollo confronts his personal history and bewails his Homeric reputation as he tries to memorialize, and make sense of, generations of war. A joy and a provocation, Bucak’s stories confront the nature of historical memory with humor and humanity. Surreal and poignant, they examine the tension between myth and history, cultural categories and personal identity, performance and authenticity.

Book The Trojan Horse of Tithing

  • Pages : 284 pages

Download or read book The Trojan Horse of Tithing written by Jonathan Paul Brenneman and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2020-08-14 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Trojan Horse Of Tithing is a plea to Christian leaders, written from a Charismatic/Pentecostal perspective. Jonathan Brenneman exposes the inherent problems with common tithe teachings, highlighting serious issues with even so-called "grace tithing." He demonstrates how deception starts subtly and documents the growing acceptance in mainstream Christianity of even overt teachings of salvation by tithing. Millions of people today now believe they will never even enter heaven without their tithes. No matter how much we try to dress tithe teachings up as grace, they continue to be the root of serious problems. The arguments contained here against the modern tithe tradition are thorough, compelling, and overwhelming. The gospel is worth giving not only our money, but even our lives to promote. However, modern tithe traditions have no place in this because they are not based on truth and misrepresent the way God relates to people. Rather than helping to advance, the gospel, they distort it. God is calling his church to get rid of the leaven and return to a powerful and pure gospel message! The Trojan Horse of Tithing is one of the most comprehensive overviews of multiple arguments against tithing. Few books make such a compelling case as to why tithing is incompatible with the gospel, or deal so thoroughly with less logical but emotionally powerful objections such as "but tithing works!" We include: -What could have possibly convinced strong proponents of tithing such as Derek Prince to change their minds?-Documentation and evidence of the extent of literal "salvation by tithing" doctrine in today's churches, and demonstration that this is the logical implication of even many of the most common so-called "grace tithing" teachings.-Dozens of serious logical problems with all of the common pro-tithing arguments.-A historical study on Melchizedeck and the related terms "El Elyon," "Zedek," "Salem," "Heaven," and "Earth."-11 commandments of God that churches regularly break for their tithe tradition.-9 serious problems with using Malachi as support for Christian tithing.-The history of tithing.-Contrast between the Babylonian tithe and the Jewish tithe. Which is our modern tithe tradition based on?-How the modern tithe tradition violates the statutes and the basic principles of the Jewish tithe.-What tithing and witchcraft have in common.-How tithing undermines Spirit-led giving.-How people are stepping into supernatural giving and supernatural provision without the tithe.-The historical and cultural context of ministerial support in scripture.-Why some of the world's most successful church planters see tithing as a hindrance to church multiplication.-How tithe teachings promote a poverty spirit.-A prophetic dream for the church.

Download or read book Natural Family Planning written by Jay Boyd and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2013-02-27 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What's wrong with Natural Family Planning? Taking a Catholic perspective on the subject, Dr. Jay Boyd explains that the use of NFP to avoid pregnancy is often promoted as "God's family planning". But is using NFP to prevent pregnancy really trusting God? If we take control of spacing births, how can be sure this is "God's plan", and that the children came "in God's time"? And most people fail to "read the fine print" that says that NFP is to be used only when a couple has serious reasons for avoiding pregnancy. The reason many people think of NFP as "Catholic birth control" is because that's how it is used by many well-meaning couples. Claiming that a couple using NFP is "open to life" while they abstain from sex during the woman's fertile period in order to intentionally avoid pregnancy - well...that's a contradiction in terms. It can easily be argued that using NFP to avoid pregnancy is an expression of a lack of trust in God's will and provision. It's an active effort on the part of the couple to second-guess God's timing for the family's new members. Dr. Boyd takes a close, objective look at NFP from the standpoint of the teaching of the Catholic Church. She examines the basic problems with NFP, along with its philosophical underpinnings; and she delves into the important concepts of marital chastity and trust in Divine Providence.

Book excerpt: In this true, compelling account of perseverance and hope from Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll's assistant, a young journalist walks on to a top-ranked USC football team and, guided by his faith, shares God's love, launching him on an unexpected journey with an amazing outcome. Had anyone told Ben Malcolmson that he'd someday be a wide receiver on the national champion USC football team--after not playing football since an unfortunate fifth-grade Pop Warner experience--he would have called them crazy. As a reporter for The Daily Trojan, in the spirit of George Plimpton, he participated in walk-on tryouts for the team and was dumbfounded to find himself listed on the roster. His position on the team never amounted to much in a game-time contribution, but Ben felt strongly that his faith was inextricably linked to his purpose. He felt called to anonymously place Bibles in each USC teammate locker on Christmas Eve--to resounding indifference and rejection from his friends. It wasn't until three years later, when his role at USC had led to a role with Coach Pete Carroll at the Seahawks organization, that an old friend connected with Ben and told him that one of the Bibles had captivated the heart of a teammate in the three days before his death. With a humble spirit dedicated to consistent acts of discipleship, Ben Malcolmson is an authentic voice for the power of simple obedience and trust, for what can happen when a believer allows God to work in a life. Walk On is the result of God using his faithful people to work in the lives of others.

Modern American Christians are turning to spiritual practices such as Christian Yoga and the Christian Enneagram in droves. These practices claim to help Christians better connect with God and themselves. But are they biblical? More importantly, can these practices be redeemed for Christian use? Or, are they representative of New Age theology and practices that have seeped into our churches? In his timely book, Dr. Berg examines the origins of New Age incursions into the American church and provides a thorough comparison of Christian theology vs. New Age beliefs. In the second half of his book, Dr. Berg examines two of the most popular spiritual practices now making their way through the Body of Christ: the Enneagram and Yoga. He provides a full theological breakdown of the Christianized versions of both and asks the question of whether or not these practices are a blend of Christian and New Age principles. The results are nothing short of shocking and every Christian in America should be aware of the dangers these practices and others like them pose to the church. Join Dr. Berg on the road to discovering how the Enneagram and Yoga have become...
