Die alltägliche Konfrontation mit anderen Kulturen ist in der Pflege dagegen nichts Neues, wohl aber das breiter werdende Bewusstsein dieser Anforderung nicht zu genügen. Insbesondere die Anforderung auf die spezifischen Belange von Migranten angepasster, situations - und kontextgerechter eingehen zu wollen, kann oft nicht erfüllt werden und führt bei den meisten Pflegekräften zu Frustration und Verunsicherung. Die Theorie der transkulturellen Pflege umschreibt die Berücksichtigung des kulturellen Hintergrundes eines Patienten, der auf pflegerische Hilfe angewiesen ist. Madeleine Leininger beschäftigte sich seit Mitte der 50er Jahre mit der transkulturellen Pflege; sie gilt als Pionierin auf diesem Gebiet. In den folgenden Kapiteln versuche ich die Begriffe Kultur und Migration zu erläutern und kulturelle Aspekte des Pflegens zu beleuchten. Des Weiteren stelle ich die Theorie Leiningers vor und möchte zum Schluss Probleme der interkulturellen Pflegesituation aufzeigen.

B. zur Globalisierung, zur demografischen Entwicklung, zum täglichen Rassismus) spürbar gewachsen. Nachdem in der Pflege Madeleine Leininger mit der Entwicklung der Theorie der Transkulturellen Pflege und der kulturellen Fürsorge zunächst als „Pionierin“ lange Zeit federführend war, nehmen nun sich zunehmend auch andere Pflegewissenschaftler dieses Thema an, bzw. werden jetzt auch neue, andere oder weiterentwickelte Theorien beziehungsweise Forschungsergebnisse veröffentlicht. So veröffentlichte auch Dr. Monika Habermann, derzeit Professorin für Pflegewissenschaft an einer Fachhochschule in Bremen, 1998 ihren Beitrag: „Pflegebedürftig in der Fremde? Zur Theorie und Praxis der interkulturellen Pflege“. Ihr Text untersucht insbesondere die pflegespezifischen Bemühungen für eine migrantengerechtere Pflege. Im Rahmen eines Referats möchte ich Habermanns Text vorstellen, den Inhalt und die Positionen etwas näher erläutern und anschaulich machen. Zunächst werde ich kurz die Autorin vorstellen. Im Hauptteil möchte ich die von Habermann aufgezeigten typischen Probleme der derzeitigen interkulturellen Pflegesituation vortragen. Die beiden folgenden Themen sind Habermanns pflegewissenschaftliche Auseinandersetzung zum Modell von Leininger und ihre Vorschläge und möglichen Strategien zur besseren interkulturellen Pflegesituation. Vor der zusammenfassenden Schlussbetrachtung werde ich noch weitere Überlegungen zu der Fragestellung: "Was beinhaltet denn eigentlich individuelle, migrantengerechte Pflegekompetenz?" einbringen und in diesem Kontext das "Transkulturelle Kompetenzmodell" von Domenig vorstellen.
