Book The Baseball Player s Guide to Hitting Like a Pro

Download or read book The Baseball Player s Guide to Hitting Like a Pro written by Roy Lingster and published by . This book was released on 2021-06-26 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every good hitter is fighting a battle... Do you know what yours is and how to turn it to your advantage on the field? 3 out of every 4 appearances at the plate result in an out. You probably know this... so why are you doubting your skills? Self-doubt is natural in any sport, but in baseball, it can be detrimental to getting out of a hitting slump -- yet it affects so many players -- pros and weekenders alike. Former Colorado Rockies pitcher Jason Marquis knew this only too well. "You're out on the mound not trusting your stuff, waiting for the next bad thing to happen, instead of going out there and grabbing the bull by the horns," he said. And the same issue affects hitters: as soon as you start to doubt yourself, your approach is shaken, and you're stuck in a cycle of misses. You're focusing on what you're doing wrong rather than what you can do to improve your game -- and that isn't going to help you. Perhaps you think you need to work on your mechanics. Perhaps you're doubting your fitness or worrying that you should be training more. But more likely than not, none of this is true. What needs fixing is not your technique: it's your attitude. And it's through attitude that the greats took their place in the league tables. Think of Ichiro Suzuki or Rod Carew, both noted for their unusual form... it's not mechanics that make a great hitter: it's what else is going on behind that swing. To hit like a pro, you need to think like a pro -- and that means mastering a specific mental attitude as well as your physical technique. Sound like a lot to handle? If you love the game, it's not so hard -- you just need some expert guidance... and you're about to get it. In The Baseball Player's Guide to Hitting Like a Pro, you'll find a clear guide to improving your hitting technique without focusing on mechanics alone. You'll discover: The 7 key elements needed to build a strong foundation for good hitting Exactly what you can learn from MLB heroes like Pete Rose and Joe Morgan Why bench-time may not be such a bad thing -- and how you can use it to your advantage How to look beyond the field to improve your attitude (and why you should) The reason why it isn't just top hitters you should be learning from -- and who you should be looking at instead Swing fundamentals broken down into key elements -- so you know exactly what it is you should be working on How to make technique changes that don't ruin improvements you've already made to your swing Why confidence is just as problematic as self-doubt -- and what you can do to mitigate it if you're on a streak The power of 'Situational Spirit' -- what it is, and how to harness its power A clear path out of your slump so you can start ranking again And much more. If you've fallen into a slump and you're doubting your skills as a hitter, don't despair. Even the top players have been there... The difference is that they know a secret. It won't always be easy, but if you recognize that, you're already halfway there: get ready to learn that secret, and watch your ranking improve -- even when it feels like it never will. If you're ready to master the true technique of the pros and elevate your swing, then scroll up and click "Add to Cart" right now.

Book The Hitter s Discipline

Download or read book The Hitter s Discipline written by Ronnie Ortegon and published by Dog Ear Publishing. This book was released on 2018-06-28 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It takes a 90 mph fastball 400 milliseconds to travel from the pitcher’s hand to the catcher’s glove. It takes the human brain 80-100 milliseconds to process the image of the ball. And the average swing time requires 150 milliseconds. Snap your fingers. That’s more than the amount of time the batter has to assess the pitch and decide whether to swing. Hitting a baseball may be the most difficult thing in all of sports. Yet, instructor and author Ronnie Ortegon has helped hundreds upon thousands of players reach their diamond dreams with his simplistic, yet sound strategy that he calls “The Hitter’s Discipline.” “Ronnie is the best hitting instructor I’ve ever worked with,” says former MLB outfielder Drew Stubbs. Ortegon is, indeed, among the best teachers in the game, and this book contains all the philosophies and techniques he has helped others master over the course of his lifetime.

Book Ted Williams

Download or read book Ted Williams written by Bill Nowlin and published by Sports Publishing LLC. This book was released on 2002 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Teddy Ballgame: A Tribute to Ted Williams is filled to the brim with wonderful photos and stories about the man who reigns today as the elder statesman of baseball. Agreed by most to be the greatest pure hitter in the history of the game, Teddy Ballgame is a lot more. He's a military hero as well, having served in two wars and having flown combat missions with John Glenn as a United States Marine Corps jet fighter pilot. As a celebrity, he has lent his name to numerable charitable efforts and his half-century of service in the cause of fighting children's cancer represents the longest association of any sports figure with a charitable cause. Among baseball fans, no one who watched the 1999 All Star Game will ever forget the moment when all the great Hall of Famers from the game's past broke ranks on the field at Fenway Park and flocked around Ted once he was brought to the mound. It was a spontaneous show of love and admiration for Teddy Ballgame. This book isn't just for Red Sox fans, it's for baseball fans of all ages and allegiances.

Book Baseball s All Time Best Hitters

Download or read book Baseball s All Time Best Hitters written by Michael J. Schell and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2005-03-27 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tony Gwynn is the greatest hitter in the history of baseball. That's the conclusion of this engaging and provocative analysis of baseball's all-time best hitters. Michael Schell challenges the traditional list of all-time hitters, which places Ty Cobb first, Gwynn 16th, and includes just 8 players whose prime came after 1960. Schell argues that the raw batting averages used as the list's basis should be adjusted to take into account that hitters played in different eras, with different rules, and in different ballparks. He makes those adjustments and produces a new list of the best 100 hitters that will spark debate among baseball fans and statisticians everywhere. Schell combines the two qualifications essential for a book like this. He is a professional statistician--applying his skills to cancer research--and he has an encyclopedic knowledge of baseball. He has wondered how to rank hitters since he was a boy growing up as a passionate Cincinnati Reds fan. Over the years, he has analyzed the most important factors, including the relative difficulty of hitting in different ballparks, the length of hitters' careers, the talent pool that players are drawn from, and changes in the game that raised or lowered major-league batting averages (the introduction of the designated hitter and changes in the height and location of the pitcher's mound, for example). Schell's study finally levels the playing field, giving new credit to hitters who played in adverse conditions and downgrading others who faced fewer obstacles. His final ranking of players differs dramatically from the traditional list. Gwynn, for example, bumps Cobb to 2nd place, Rod Carew rises from 28th to 3rd, Babe Ruth drops from 9th to 16th, and Willie Mays comes from off the list to rank 13th. Schell's list also gives relatively more credit to modern players, containing 39 whose best days were after 1960. Using a fun, conversational style, the book presents a feast of stories and statistics about players, ballparks, and teams--all arranged so that calculations can be skipped by general readers but consulted by statisticians eager to follow Schell's methods or introduce their students to such basic concepts as mean, histogram, standard deviation, p-value, and regression. Baseball's All-Time Best Hitters will shake up how baseball fans view the greatest heroes of America's national pastime.

This book was released on 2018-08-26 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unique hitting manual has a complicated history. Dr. Harris wrote HITTING SECRETS FROM BASEBALL'S GRAVEYARD as a salute to great Deadball Era batsmen like Cobb, Speaker, and Wagner after investing twenty years of off-and-on research in the project. The techniques he unearthed from first-hand accounts, old photos, and much experimental reverse-engineering stunned him to a point that he found himself recommending their revival in some manner. His back-door advocacy of forgotten hitting mechanics was continually luring him off the strict historian
