Shakespeare, through a new dramatic approach, also shows how a man regains his former state of affairs in life in perfect harmony. This phenomenon, which was present at the initial stage in all his final plays, has been lost, because of some evil or misdeeds. Here Shakespeare demonstrates how this lost harmony has been regained in each play through a circular pattern of movement. In all his final works, the playwright presents two different groups of people in two different worlds: evil-doers, in a sophisticated or naturel world and innocent people in a pastoral world. In the natural world, at the beginning, there are parents and children. Because of the parents' evil deeds, the children have been separated. The former remains in the natural world to suffer and repent and the latter, the innocent, who are the victims of the former, have been brought up, at the same time, in the pastoral world. At the end, the parents, in their redeemed state, meet their children to be in harmony with them. Shakespeare presents the same process in all his final plays: "the winter's tale, "the tempest" and "Cymbeline", through h a well-organized family. In each play, the story begins in a harmonious royal family with all its family members. Disputes and conflicts, because of the passion, pride, lusts etc...break this harmonious atmosphere, causing the eventual separation of the children from the family. The separated members of this royal family find themselves in different social surroundings. The parents are in their courtly residence, with the exception of "the tempest", and the children are in a primitive milieu or in a pastoral environment.

Rather his methods involved a comprehensive understanding not only of human nature, but also of forces of higher powers. These powers are often talked about in religious studies and would have been known to most as “God”. So for the purpose of this essay we will think of God as a force rather than a being, a total and comprehensive all pervasive weaving in the fabric of time. To the person uneducated in the occult powers, it is easy to see the outrageous pieces of his art as magic. Which is like the ultimate cop out, just throwing away its value and meaning to the wind. To read Shakespeare is to feel Shakespeare, not some rational understanding. To read Shakespeare is to transport from the ephemeral material world to the eternal realm of spiritual eternity. The sense that this brings to mind is where the aesthetic pleasure of reading Shakespeare envelops the world. It is why we are still reading Shakespeare today and will continue to do so for quite some time. But to know time is to exist on a different plane than Shakespeare inhabited. For Shakespeare’s world was that of the eternal due to a super conscious understanding of the Divine. More than likely these forces were working through him because he had found a way to open himself up to the muses in order to become a muse himself. In other words we are mere fools in time and Shakespeare suffered greatly to give the world a piece of himself.

Many critics evaluate the role of metaphoric music in the plays, referencing notions of harmonious human interaction or a dissonant cosmos. Also, many critics analyze music's relationship to the bawdy, the sensual, and the deranged within Shakespeare. Fewer critics, but still quite a few, evaluate the literal musical material that likely would have been incorporated into the performance of these works. What did Desdemona's "Willow Song" really sound like? What was the melody of the tunes that Ophelia sang in her mad outrage? My research interests lie in combining these two critical approaches. In my thesis, I evaluate Othello, Hamlet, Twelfth Night, and the Tempest according to the Boethian divisions of music, musica instrumentalis (aural music), musica humana (music of human relationships), and musica mundana (music of the spheres). I analyze the way that these different levels of music work together within each play and then make an argument about how this relationship is a manifestation of Shakespeare's own religious equivocation and doubt.
