Book Introduction of Peak load Pricing in Europe

Download or read book Introduction of Peak load Pricing in Europe written by Derek McKay and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some form of peak-load pricing has been practiced in Britain and France for the last several decades. While the greatest gains in terms of cost saving have taken place at the industrial level, both countries have found it profitable to extend some form of time-of-day tariff to the residential consumer. The major loads which have been modulated in response to these price signals are those associated with storage heating. The storage devices are generally automatically switched on when the cheaper electricity is available. A recurrent problem which has prompted evolution of the British tariffs has been the starting load when large numbers of thermostatically controlled loads are initially switched on. Staggered time periods are used in the newer tariffs to alleviate this problem and avoid aritificial system peaks. The French do not seem to be bothered by this problem at present. (Author).

Download or read book Peak Load Pricing and Reliability written by Vijayamohanan Pillai N. and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-05 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The peak load pricing theory was once a fertile field for analytical exercises. The general result from the traditional theory of peak load pricing charged the off peak consumers marginal operating costs only and the on-peak users marginal operating plus marginal capacity costs, since it is the on-peakers who were assumed to press against capacity. The theoretical refinements have since somehow ceased to attract attention, possibly because the classical framework and the inevitable result have been taken for granted, and the research interest has shifted from theory to empirics. The present work seeks to take issue with the classical conclusion and shows that if the off-peak period output is explicitly expressed in terms of capacity utilization of that period, the result will be an off-peak price including a fraction of the capacity cost in proportion to its significance relative to total utilization. The work also analyzes the implications of the relationship between reliability and rationing cost involved in a power supply system in the framework of the standard inventory analysis, instead of the conventional marginalist approach of welfare economics.

Book On the Application of Peak Load Pricing to Computer Services

Download or read book On the Application of Peak Load Pricing to Computer Services written by Kweku Ewusi-Mensah and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 21 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computer networks are increasing in usage and availability. Concurrently, individual centers are dealing with increased levels of usage and service demands during prime hours. A model for addressing the peak load pricing problem for individual centers as well as networks is presented. The model is based on each center independently maximizing a specified objective function. Different price schedules are used for local and remote users over distinct time periods. Implementation of the model is discussed. (Author).

Book Dynamic Pricing and the Peak Electricity Load Problem

Download or read book Dynamic Pricing and the Peak Electricity Load Problem written by Paul Simshauser and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reforms to Australia's 45,000 MW electricity market were met with remarkable success, but wholesale market gains have been largely exhausted. Above-trend growth in investment in energy infrastructure is driving retail prices to levels that triggered the sectoral assault in the first place. This pressure should initiate the last piece of the reform puzzle - removing price regulation, installing smart meters and implementing dynamic pricing to halt the primary cause of the problem, rapidly rising peak demand. We find that such a change can lead to non-trivial reductions in household peak demand, with our sample load factor improving by 9 percentage points.
