Book The Chemistry of Ruthenium

Download or read book The Chemistry of Ruthenium written by E.A. Seddon and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 1414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Chemistry of Ruthenium is concerned with the chemistry of ruthenium, with emphasis on synthesis and structure. The discussion spans a wide range of fields, from coordination chemistry and organometallic chemistry to structural chemistry (of both molecular and extended lattices), electrochemistry and photochemistry, as well as kinetics and spectroscopy. Comprised of 15 chapters, this book begins with an introduction to the discovery and early history of ruthenium, along with its extraction and purification, isotopes, physical and chemical properties, and applications. The discussion then turns to the concept of oxidation state and a scheme for systematizing descriptive inorganic chemistry together with its applicability to ruthenium chemistry. Subsequent chapters focus on the chemistry of ruthenium(VIII), ruthenium(VII), ruthenium(VI), ruthenium(V), ruthenium(IV), ruthenium(III), ruthenium(II), ruthenium(I), and ruthenium(0). The book also considers ruthenium carbonyl clusters and nitrosyls before concluding with a review of the photophysics and photochemistry of tris(diimine)ruthenium(II) complexes. This monograph will be useful to students, practitioners, and researchers in the field of inorganic chemistry, as well as those who are interested in the chemistry of ruthenium.

  • Pages : 260 pages

Download or read book Ruthenium Chemistry written by Ajay Kumar Mishra and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-01-17 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book will describe Ruthenium complexes as chemotherapeutic agent specifically at tumor site. It has been the most challenging task in the area of cancer therapy. Nanoparticles are now emerging as the most effective alternative to traditional chemotherapeutic approach. Nanoparticles have been shown to be useful in this respect. However, in view of organ system complicacies, instead of using nanoparticles as a delivery tool, it will be more appropriate to synthesize a drug of nanoparticle size that can use blood transport mechanism to reach the tumor site and regress cancer. Due to less toxicity and effective bio-distribution, ruthenium (Ru) complexes are of much current interest. Additionally, lumiscent Ru-complexes can be synthesized in nanoparticle size and can be directly traced at tissue level. The book will contain the synthesis, characterization, and applications of various Ruthenium complexes as chemotherapeutic agents. The book will also cover the introduction to chemotherapy, classification of Ru- complexes with respect to their oxidation states and geometry, Ruthenium complexes of nano size: shape and binding- selectivity, binding of ruthenium complexes with DNA, DNA cleavage studies and cytotoxicity. The present book will be more beneficial to researchers, scientists and biomedical. Current book will empower specially to younger generation to create a new world of ruthenium chemistry in material science as well as in medicines. This book will be also beneficial to national/international research laboratories, and academia with interest in the area of coordination chemistry more especially to the Ruthenium compounds and its applications.

Book Organometallic Compounds of Ruthenium and Osmium

Download or read book Organometallic Compounds of Ruthenium and Osmium written by G.R. Knox and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-10-23 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is one of the first volumes to be published in the series of Chapman and Hall Chemistry Source books which provides carefully tailored information to workers in specialized areas of chemistry. The information contained in this book is derived from the Dictionary of Organometallic Compounds, published in November 1984. Organoruthenium and -osmium compounds constitute an important group of organometallics. They display a fascinating array of structural types, including a variety of cluster compounds, and they have uses as catalysts and reagents. Organoruthenium compounds in particular are widely used in catalytic processes. The varied properties of these compounds will ensure that this particular compendium will reach a wide readership. The databank on the properties of organometallic compounds, which is represented in its current form by the Dictionary of Organometallic Compounds and its subset publications such as this volume, will be kept continuously up-to-date. Supplements to the main Dictionary will appear annually and revised editions of this Sourcebook will be published from time to time as demands permits. G.R.Knox vii Introduction 1. Using the Sourcebook (2) Any compound with an established use, such as in catalysis, as a synthetic reagent or starting material. The Sourcebook is divided into element sections: (3) Other compounds of particular chemical, within each section the arrangement of entries is in structural, biological or historical interest, especially order of molecular formula according to the Hill those thought to exhibit unusual bonding characteris convention (i.e. C, then H, then other elements in tics.
