After two periods of practice teaching, we have reached a conclusion that children will retain much more of the material we presented to them so laboriously if they are engaged in some activity which has direct bearing to the subject being taught. Therefore, to underclassmen we say, When preparing to teach, give ample thought to some interesting function.
