Book The Miracles of Missions Or the Modern Marvels in the History of Missionary Enterprise Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Miracles of Missions Or the Modern Marvels in the History of Missionary Enterprise Classic Reprint written by Arthur T. Pierson and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2016-11-20 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Miracles of Missions, or the Modern Marvels in the History of Missionary Enterprise These observations of Dr. Christlieb have suggested the somewhat emphatic title of this book. We have chosen to call it The Miracles of Missions, notwithstanding the objections frequently urged to the use of the word miracles for it must be remembered that a miracle, as the word indicates, is noth ing more nor less than a wonder to which God appeals as a sign of divine presence and power; and all that we mean by this term as now used is that, in the history of modern missions, there are amazing wonders of di vine interposition and human transformation which admit of no adequate explanation if we deny the divine element. The author would simply add, before pre senting a few of these instances somewhat in detail, that the impression with which he began these studies, now more than thirty years ago, has daily and hourly increased as these studies have been further prosecuted. With these prefatory remarks we submit to the candid judgment of the reader the testi mony of missionary biography and history. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our Lord said, "Go and make disciples of all nations." In 1995, He told me to "go to Kenya, East Africa and make those disciples." What I found was millions of natives needing to hear about Jesus Christ. I thought that I was going to do some great work and maybe even stay and be a career missionary. Boy, was I wrong! I didn't know it then, but when I got back to North Carolina, I realized my future calling. I was to take teams back to Kenya and let the Lord change the lives of not only the natives, but the missionaries themselves, and that's what happened. We've seen thousands ask Jesus into their hearts. Some of whom are over one hundred years old, and some who had never seen a white man or woman, or heard the Word of God. What a feeling to see someone give their life to Jesus so close to eternity.

This book was released on 2021-05-07 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you have difficulty knowing how to pray for the missionaries you support and have promised to uphold in prayer and/or for the missionaries your church supports? Do you feel that you can't pray for them if you haven't had news from them recently? Is it hard for your missions committee to motivate people to pray? This book is designed to make interceding for the advance of the Gospel interesting. It reviews biographies of missionaries of the past, some well-known and some not so, to illustrate how to pray for those of the present. It presents common needs for prayer for not only people working in cultures not their own but for all of God's servants as they labor anywhere. You will discover aspects of the missionary life that will remind you of your own struggles. You will gather insights as you see the hand of God working through ordinary people to accomplish His purposes. As you look back over long periods of time, you will better understand how God works all things together for the good of His people. You will marvel at how the Holy Spirit strengthened and used ordinary people like you and me to accomplish His purposes. Prayer lists at the end of each chapter will apply to any of God's servants anywhere and may be useful for quick reference in your prayer life. Use this book to organize a group by reading a chapter each meeting for discussion and prayer. Reference it for your private intercession. Or just read it for enjoyment and information as you would read any other book. 6

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Miracles of Missions: Modern Marvels in the History of Missionary Enterprise Open to conviction, can long resist this evidence. The history of missions not only reveals mira cles - it is itself a miracle. It is at once a demonstration and an illustration that, high above and far behind all human actors on the stage is a divine Director and Controller, who shifts the changing scenery to suit every new act in the drama of the ages, and changes both the positions and the persons of the actors. When He wills, when His work demands it, and His time has fully come, they enter and take up their part; and, as surely, when He wills it and His time has fully come, they leave the stage and give place to others. God buries His work men, but He carries on His work, is one of the sayings of John Wesley, carved on his monument in England's great Abbey. But it is not less true that He raises up a Pharaoh and Cyrus, and girds those who have not known Him, to show forth His power in them, and in spite of opposition carry on His eternal covenant pur pose.
