Oyugi and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper has been written using data derived from a major study conducted by Oyugi (2011). The study investigated the contribution of entrepreneurship education to the development of entrepreneurial self-efficacy and intentions among university students in Uganda. The paper recognizes the development and the teaching of entrepreneurship courses in most universities in Uganda with the aim of rolling out students sufficiently equipped to become job creators. At a time when efforts are being made to address graduate unemployment through mainstream training in entrepreneurial skills in post-primary and post-secondary education, this paper provides timely guidance on the entrepreneurial curriculum. It proposes a quantitative analysis in which entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial self-efficacy are key to developing entrepreneurial intentions of students. To investigate this, two hypotheses were formulated. Data was collected by means of a mail survey questionnaire completed by students, randomly selected from a sampling frame of third year students, who had training in entrepreneurship course. The findings revealed that significant relationships exist between entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial intention, while self-efficacy was found to partially mediate the entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial intention.

Book Exploring Entrepreneurial Intention s Mediating Role in the Relationship Between Self Efficacy and Nascent Behaviour

Download or read book Exploring Entrepreneurial Intention s Mediating Role in the Relationship Between Self Efficacy and Nascent Behaviour written by Bruce Mwiya and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 2 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper examines the mediating role of entrepreneurial intention (EI) in relation to the influence of the five dimensions of entrepreneurial self-efficacy (ESE) on nascent behaviour. The study relies on a quantitative approach where primary data were collected from 294 final year undergraduate students at a public university in Zambia. The data were examined by using correlation, logistic regression and mediation analyses. The findings indicate that each of the five dimensions of ESE is positively and significantly related with EI. Additionally, each of the ESE dimensions, except the financial aspect, is positively correlated with nascent behaviour. Lastly, the results show that the influence of ESE dimensions on nascent behaviour is significantly mediated by intention. The study took place in a public university in Zambia; more universities could be involved to improve the generalisability of the study conclusions. The study shows that the five ESE dimensions positively influence not only business start-up intention but also nascent behaviour. To motivate graduates' involvement in business start-up, there is a need to tailor training and practical pedagogical approaches on entrepreneurship that are focused on developing the five ESE dimensions. This paper extends an emerging body of knowledge which has not been fully investigated in terms of the mediating role of intention on the relationships between dimensions of ESE and nascent behaviour. The study also makes a valuable contribution to the under-researched context of Zambia and African entrepreneurship.

Book Entrepreneurial orientation and personal values of Malay entrepreneurs

Download or read book Entrepreneurial orientation and personal values of Malay entrepreneurs written by Rohani Mohd and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2015-02-25 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2013 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: complete, , course: Business Management, language: English, abstract: This study examines personal values for its influence on entrepreneurial orientation, and determines the role of mediator [self efficacy (SE)] and moderator [business environment (BE)] variables on the relationship between personal values (PV) and entrepreneurial orientations (EO). The examination of the mediator-moderator effect involving PV, SE, BE, and their subsequent influence on EO was also undertaken. A survey was administered with the assistance of MARA officers the whole of West Malaysia. The data generated was based on 162 owner managers’ selfrating of PV, SE, BE and EO. Rasch Model and SPSS programs were employed to analyze the data using several different analyses. Multiple regression, hierarchical stepwise regression, One Way ANOVA and Independent t-tests were used to test the hypotheses. The results provided general support for five out of the six hypotheses. Specifically, the direct relationship between personal values (especially religious values) and entrepreneurial orientations was found to be positively related. Different dimension of personal values predicted different dimension of entrepreneurial orientations. Self-efficacy was found to have positive relationship with entrepreneurial orientations; mediate the relationship between personal values of hard work and discipline, and also entrepreneurial orientations. However, business environment did not moderate the relationship between self-efficacy and entrepreneurial orientations. Therefore, the Rasch Model has developed a new entrepreneur competence measure as it generates four classifications of Malay owner managers. As this is a fresh finding, it serves as a new contribution for the present study. The results suggested that religious values and self-efficacy motivation were needed to influence entrepreneurial orientation. Hence, the Malaysian government needs to improve the performance of Malay owner managers by providing them with training, focusing on reinforcing their religious values. This is particularly important for Malay owner managers who have just started in business and those who have survived in their business. The new construct developed for religious values, and the entrepreneurial competence measure employed were important contributions that should be replicated in other countries or other religions, to confirm on the applicability of the measure. Book Entrepreneurial Self Efficacy and Intention

Download or read book Entrepreneurial Self Efficacy and Intention written by Yasir Shahab and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Purpose- This paper aims to present a 'moderated mediation model' covering the nexus between entrepreneurial self-efficacy (ESE) and entrepreneurial intentions (EI) by comparing an emerging market (China) and a mature market (Spain). By drawing on the theory of planned behaviour (TPB) and self-efficacy, this study theorizes that entrepreneurial creativity (EC) and attitudes towards entrepreneurship (ATE) mediate the relationship between entrepreneurial self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intentions; moreover, entrepreneurial education (EE) moderates these relationships.Design/methodology/approach- This research employs a survey-based methodology and uses a 37-item questionnaire for a total sample of 808 student respondents from both countries. Further, the study employs structural equation modelling (SEM) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to test the proposed hypotheses.Findings- The results indicate that entrepreneurial creativity and attitudes towards entrepreneurship positively mediate the relationship between entrepreneurial self-efficacy and intention. Further, with entrepreneurial education, individuals can efficiently develop entrepreneurial creativity to successfully nurture their entrepreneurial intentions, regardless of their countries' economic maturity.Practical implications - Being able to identify the importance of entrepreneurial creativity and education for future entrepreneurs is of definite concern for all the business eco-system: from intentions of young entrepreneurs to governments; new levers, facilitators and approaches, e.g. policies will be able to be adopted.Originality/value- This research provides valuable insights on the importance of entrepreneurial creativity and education in the determination of entrepreneurial intentions in two very distinct markets for the first time.

Book excerpt: Document from the year 2020 in the subject Pedagogy - Job Education, Further Education, , language: English, abstract: This study will discuss the entrepreneurial choices between University undergraduate students and their proactive personality relations. How do the undergraduate students of the University of Oman have business intentions? Do entrepreneurship and proactive personality between university students have a good relationship? Is there a different gender, year, and college status of undergraduate University students? Both the developed and emerging countries have a universal interest in unemployment. The unemployment rate has risen worldwide, particularly with the recent global collapse. Different global approaches and plans to combat unemployment have been implemented. Entrepreneurship is among the most selected alternatives to unemployment, as the enterprise is increasingly regarded as a major driver of prosperity, creativity, and job creation. But the growth of entrepreneurship and transforming people's attitude towards business is a challenge in virtually all countries.

Book Using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling PLS SEM to Assess the Effects of Entrepreneurial Education on Engineering Students Entrepreneurial Intention

Download or read book Using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling PLS SEM to Assess the Effects of Entrepreneurial Education on Engineering Students Entrepreneurial Intention written by Cuong Nguyen and published by . This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study aims to assess the impacts of three components from Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) on Entrepreneurial intention and analyze the mediating effects of these three components in the relationship between Entrepreneurial education and Entrepreneurial intention and in the relationship between Self- Efficacy and Entrepreneurial intention among engineering students. Data were collected via a structured questionnaire from engineering students at Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. The methodology employed Structural Equation Modelling Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) using SmartPLS (version 3.3.3) to assess the relationship among variables. Findings confirm the directly positive relationship between Attitude toward entrepreneurship, Perceived behaviour control and Subjective norms on engineering student's entrepreneurial intention. These three components of TPB mediate the relationship between Entrepreneurial education, Self-Efficacy and engineering student's entrepreneurial intention. This study contributes toward the understanding of engineering student's entrepreneurial intention in Vietnam as an emerging market in Asia. The mediating effects of three components of TPB have been systematically investigated and the indirect roles of Entrepreneurial education and Self-Efficacy have been validated by applying employed Structural Equation Modelling Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Managerial implications are discussed to promote engineering student's entrepreneurial intention in Vietnam. Higher education leaders and policymakers can utilise the findings to construct the initiatives of entrepreneurship development and their implementationfor engineering students.

Book Entrepreneurial Self efficacy Intrinsic Motivation and Entrepreneurial Intention as Antecedents of Nascent Necessity entrepreneur Business Start up Behaviour in South Africa

Download or read book Entrepreneurial Self efficacy Intrinsic Motivation and Entrepreneurial Intention as Antecedents of Nascent Necessity entrepreneur Business Start up Behaviour in South Africa written by Anton J. Jordaan and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This research examines the inter-relationships among entrepreneurial self-efficacy, intrinsic motivation, and entrepreneurial intention as antecedents to entrepreneurial start-up behaviour. The research participants were South African nascent necessity-entrepreneurs. Theoretical foundations for the research are derived from Ajzen's (1991) theory of planned behaviour. The research design involved a repeated measures longitudinal study over 4.5 years that included an entrepreneurship training, mentoring, and incubation intervention program. This was introduced during the first 12-months of the study. Repeated measures of the variables of interest were collected at T1 (baseline), T2 (immediately at the end of the 12-month entrepreneurship intervention program), and T3 (end-of-study). A structural model comprised of the variables of interest was developed and structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to analyse the data. The research questions addressed centred upon the extent to which entrepreneurial self-efficacy, intrinsic motivation, and entrepreneurial intention were inter-related and the extent to which they contributed toward nascent necessity-entrepreneur entrepreneurial start-up behaviour. The longitudinal nature of the research allowed for an understanding of the dynamic nature of the variables of interest over the three points where measurements were taken. This was important since changes in the means of the three antecedent variables were observed to various degree immediately after the entrepreneurship training, mentoring, and incubation intervention program (T2) and at the end-of-study (T3) - compared to T1 and T2. These changes highlighted the shortcomings in cross-sectional studies where variables of interest are known to be unstable over time. While previous studies have examined the inter-relationships among entrepreneurial self-efficacy, entrepreneurial intention, and entrepreneurial start-up behaviour, this research adds to current theory by examining to what extent intrinsic motivation is an important antecedent contributor (along with entrepreneurial self-efficacy) to entrepreneurial behaviour. It also makes a contribution to theory by examining the variable interrelationships in a South African nascent necessity-entrepreneur context (other entrepreneurial intention studies have focused on opportunity-oriented entrepreneurs). The research makes a contribution to practice by providing insights into the design, development, and delivery of effective entrepreneurial training, mentoring, and incubation programs. The research also provides valuable insights for policy makers in the framing of policy aimed at stimulating the entrepreneurial training of nascent necessity-entrepreneurs as a means of assisting them in the new venture creation process.
