Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hebrews 6:13-17 (NKJV) says: "For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, saying 'Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you'. And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. For men indeed swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is for them an end of all dispute. Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us."When a promise is made, one may be doubtful as to whether the fellow making the promise will fulfill it or not; but when the fellow backs up the promise with an oath - swearing by someone greater than himself, every form of doubt will disappear because the fellow is now bound to fulfill what he has promised. This was the case with God and Abraham. He gave him a promise, and since there is no one greater than Him, He decided to swear by Himself. He put His Almightiness, Holiness, Righteousness, Most Highness and Sovereignty on the line; and sure enough, He fulfilled what He promised him - He blessed him and greatly multiplied him.The text says God is determined to show to us too being the heirs of the promise He made to our father Abraham the immutability of His counsel so that we can be rest assured that what He has promised us, He will surely fulfill if only we will exhibit faith and patience as our father did - verses 15-17.The word 'immutability' according to Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary means something that cannot be changed, something that will never change. That's what God is trying to get across. Since He will never tell a lie (Numbers 23:19), He is saying He will fulfill all He has promised us, without changing any of them. This is because He had sworn by Himself to do so. This book in your hand is a collection of fifty (50) of the promises He had made to all His children; as you read and meditate on them, ask Him to fulfill them in your own life and He will definitely do so

Book excerpt: Charles Haddon Spurgeon's, The Immutability of God, will inspire and challenge you. Listen to Spurgeon: I know nothing which can so comfort the soul, so calm the swelling billows of grief and sorrow-so speak peace to the winds of trial-as a devout musing upon the subject of the Godhead. It is to that subject that I invite you this morning. We shall present you with one view of it-that is the immutability of the glorious Jehovah. "I am," says my text, "Jehovah," (for so it should be translated) "I am Jehovah, I change not; therefore you sons of Jacob are not consumed."

Download or read book All That Is in God written by James E. Dolezal and published by Reformation Heritage Books. This book was released on 2017-07-13 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unknown to many, increasing numbers of conservative evangelicals are denying basic tenets of classical Christian teaching about God, with departures occurring even among those of the Calvinistic persuasion. James E. Dolezal’s All That Is in God provides an exposition of the historic Christian position while engaging with these contemporary deviations. His convincing critique of the newer position he styles “theistic mutualism” is philosophically robust, systematically nuanced, and biblically based. It demonstrates the need to maintain the traditional viewpoint, particularly on divine simplicity, and spotlights the unfortunate implications for other important Christian doctrines—such as divine eternality and the Trinity—if it were to be abandoned. Arguing carefully and cogently that “all that is in God is God Himself,” the work is sure to stimulate debate on the issue in years to come.

Book excerpt: A Transforming Knowledge of the Living God The timeless appeal of this classic book, written by a preacher with a worldwide ministry during the first half of the twentieth century, demonstrates the deep hunger for a saving knowledge of God present in each generation. Arthur Pink sought to give readers not just a theoretical knowledge of God but pointed them toward a personal relationship of yielding to him and living according to his biblical precepts. Pink's book explores attributes such as God's decrees, foreknowledge, sovereignty, holiness, grace, and mercy, among many others, all packaged in a style especially useful for pastors, teachers, and Bible students. Our God who is above all names cannot be found through human searching alone, Pink teaches, but can be known only as he is revealed by the Holy Spirit through his living Word.
