The new journal was to be called the Daily, the Morning, or the London Telegraph - he had not decided which - and was to be printed by some new process, which had been perfected by one of his relatives, of a mechanical genius. It was to be a strictly liberal, if not radical journal, to advocate all liberal measures, but more especially the abolition of the punishment of death for all crimes whatsoever - murder and high treason both included. His object in sending for me was to offer me an engagement, if I would accept it, to write all or nearly all its leading articles upon foreign politics.
