Book Experimental Determination of Heat Transfer and Flow Friction Characteristics for Several Plate Fin Type Compact Heat Exchanger Surfaces

Download or read book Experimental Determination of Heat Transfer and Flow Friction Characteristics for Several Plate Fin Type Compact Heat Exchanger Surfaces written by Stuart Franklin Ball (Jr) and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this report, the heat transfer and isothermal flow friction characteristics for seven compact heat exchanger surfaces are presented and compared. Five of the surfaces were of a similar triangular fin configuration, differing in material and method of construction, and two of the surfaces, having been tested previously, were of a modified rectangular passage configuration. The modified rectangular passage surfaces showed better overall performance than the triangular fin surfaces, and matrices constructed from perforated material showed better overall performance than similar surfaces constructed from non-perforated material. For similar matric configurations, small variations in manufacturing procedure had little effect upon heat transfer and flow friction performance. The heat transfer data were obtained by means of the single-blow transient testing technique. A cylic method of transient testing was also investigated, and found to be both reliable and useful in that the additional method of testing extends the Reynolds number range for the experimental apparatus. Book Compact Heat Exchangers

Download or read book Compact Heat Exchangers written by C. Ranganayakulu and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-02-09 with total page 713 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive source of generalized design data for most widely used fin surfaces in CHEs Compact Heat Exchanger Analysis, Design and Optimization: FEM and CFD Approach brings new concepts of design data generation numerically (which is more cost effective than generic design data) and can be used by design and practicing engineers more effectively. The numerical methods/techniques are introduced for estimation of performance deteriorations like flow non-uniformity, temperature non-uniformity, and longitudinal heat conduction effects using FEM in CHE unit level and Colburn j factors and Fanning friction f factors data generation method for various types of CHE fins using CFD. In addition, worked examples for single and two-phase flow CHEs are provided and the complete qualification tests are given for CHEs use in aerospace applications. Chapters cover: Basic Heat Transfer; Compact Heat Exchangers; Fundamentals of Finite Element and Finite Volume Methods; Finite Element Analysis of Compact Heat Exchangers; Generation of Design Data by CFD Analysis; Thermal and Mechanical Design of Compact Heat Exchanger; and Manufacturing and Qualification Testing of Compact Heat Exchanger. Provides complete information about basic design of Compact Heat Exchangers Design and data generation is based on numerical techniques such as FEM and CFD methods rather than experimental or analytical ones Intricate design aspects included, covering complete cycle of design, manufacturing, and qualification of a Compact Heat Exchanger Appendices on basic essential fluid properties, metal characteristics, and derivation of Fourier series mathematical equation Compact Heat Exchanger Analysis, Design and Optimization: FEM and CFD Approach is ideal for senior undergraduate and graduate students studying equipment design and heat exchanger design.

Book Heat Transfer and Flow Friction Characteristics of Several Plate fin Type Compact Heat Exchanger Surfaces

Download or read book Heat Transfer and Flow Friction Characteristics of Several Plate fin Type Compact Heat Exchanger Surfaces written by Paul F. Pucci and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Experimental results for the convective heat transfer and flow friction characteristics of plate-fin type heat transfer surfaces are presented for five surfaces. Four surfaces had a sinusoidal fin geometry. Two of these were fabricated of stainless steel, two of nickel. One of the nickel surfaces had perforated nickel fins. The fifth surface was fabricated of stainless steel and had a triangular fin geometry. The heat transfer data were obtained by the single-blow transient testing technique and by the cyclic testing technique. The two techniques compliment each other in extending the range of testing capability.

Book Heat Exchanger Design

Download or read book Heat Exchanger Design written by Arthur P. Fraas and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 1991-01-16 with total page 568 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Second Edition of the well-received work on design, construction, and operation of heat exchangers. Demonstrates how to apply theories of fluid mechanics and heat transfer to practical problems posed by design, testing, and installation of heat exchangers. Tables and data have been brought up to date, and there is new material on problems of vibration and fouling, and on optimization of energy use in the chemical process and manufacturing industries. Covers all basic principles of heat exchanger design, and addresses many specialized situations encountered in engineering applications.
